Brands Hatch Grand Prix

I had a solid chance of a podium finish, but such was the difference in pace of this field, I could not avoid Chris Fairley in time through turn 6 and lost my front wing. The successive understeer meeting with the outside wall damaged my suspension enough to effectively end my race. I'm very happy it did not end Chris', as I solely had the responsibility of finding my way around him.

Well done to Craig, Steve and Aubrey... and those who survived this bottoming-fest!

Is there a tutoring class for: "Formation Lap/ Do not Punt / Space Yourself"?

If there is, some really need to join and learn how to do formation laps! >{... Was the punt rule in effect? I did not see if Maurice Claessen got a penalty, YOU RUINED MY RACE!!! Damaged suspension! Arghh!!!

Anyways, this is it!!!... Season 6 is not for me...Too many DNF's, 3 caused by punts in first lap, less than 10 laps and all resulted in damaged cars....All recent races ruined by punts, pretty much all unintentional except a few.

Damn it! I've lost the fun and motivation to keep racing for now...I need to kool off, but I'm really going to need an "Olympic Swimming Pool" full of ice for that matter... :)

I realized as soon as I tried to enter the game that I did not have the right track. So I have been praticing on the wrong track, and did not have a setup for this track. I managed to get in about three laps before qualifiying. Sixty laps, I will just take it easy and learn the track over the course of the race. Then I came up on someone who had lost their rear wing and then spun on the way back to the pits. You know how you are approching a car that has spun and is rolling across the track? I picked my line thinking they would keep rolling but they hit the brakes right as I got to them. BAM. Game over. Sorry whoever I hit.

Am I missing somthing about which version of a track we will run? Is there some way to tell for sure that I don't see?

The pace lap seemed very herky-jerky stop-and-go. The slowdowns were slow enough that some of the cars ahead of me were doing burnouts. That stop and go stuff gets magnified in the back of the pack. If you need to warm your brakes just maintain your speed and drag the brake against the throttle. Just a suggestion. I know some people don't left-foot brake.

I had a pretty solid drive but it got very lonely very fast. I think it was only ten laps into the race when the car ahead of me was a lap ahead and the car behind a lap behind. Thanks to Tristan for my adrenaline shot for the day. :) Congrats to Craig and Steve.

Terrible race. Jeff screwed up the start and caused me to get damage at both ends. This caused me to spin off on lap 2 running 4th. I was still looking good for a top 5 despite being 3 seconds off my regular pace, but disco'd. And thus ends my nice finishing streak...

I've just taken a look at the calendar and dont like the look of any of the upcoming tracks. I may not bother with this series anymore...

I messed up my qual run so I was at the back of the pack for the race. Too bad because I think I had a good 5-7 th place car.

Anyway, at this point my goal was to just finish the race and be conservative...

Lap 1, trying to avoid a car that was almost stopped over the hill on the high speed corner (back section - turn 6 or was it turn 7) I bailed to the grass and collected the wall (5th/6th gear) -- otherwise I would have destroyed whomever it was that was almost stopped.

I love the champ cars, but remind never to run Brands Hatch in them again -- track is just NOT suited for these types of cars, blind corners, jumps, no run-off, ugh, just not a safe place to run.

Scott, you're a tool. Jeff didnt screw anything up, it was your own impatience at that start that caused your probelms. And you spun off on your own accord. Face it, you were impatient and ill prepared. Take it with a little dignity and dont blame your misfortune's on others. All is well when you win, but when you have a bad race, it is suddenly somebody else's fault?? Not cool.

I also thought it was the other Brands track, so when I went to test the server half a day ahead of the race it was a surprise! So then I had to go and sort out a car for it, and the track was quite different to the V2 Brands I had always had races on - especially the killer curbs here, and the "deep" sand!!

So you really needed a very safe car, and it took me two hours to get one all set up and 1:03 capable. I didn't even bother, or get time, to work out any Qual car except to use less fuel in the race car.

Qual 6th, so that was ok. And I got a good jump at the start and passed two cars before turn 1, but it was hairy working out where and what the finish line would think about where I was by then! Those other two cars started so poorly that I didn't want to slow right down just because of them, but was worried about a possible penalty.

Scott hounded me right away and got a great pass on me, but I wasn't worried about positions! Just about lapping fast and surely! I expected half the field would crash out and the aim was to NOT be one of those! That alone would put me top 5 quite likely.

But no....even with my 'very safe' car I managed to drive TOO SAFE and that made my turn-in at the "chicane" occur too easily and thus I hit the inner curb and shot off the track and into the wall on the very 2nd lap!! DOH
Rear wing ripped off and right front and rear suspension damage, and a crabbing car....pretty well race over as it was undriveable at any speed.

I pitted and knew they would not fix the car very well - they never do. So it remained having a 25deg right steering wheel to go straight, and that damn REALFEEL decided the 'steering forces' were MASSIVE to the right!! So the FFB on my G25 was half maxed and trying to drive the steering wheel full right, whilst I had to try to maintain 25deg to go straight!!! Plus banging away - hammering me - on every bump area, which is pretty well the whole lap!

Plus the rear suspension damage making it impossible to accelerate much until the car was ever straight, or the rear end would snap free and spin you in a flash! Which caused 5 spins (and totalled to well over 60secs time lost) before I worked out how fast I could go...or not.

But I still knew that there was more attrition to come from the field, so if I could lap fairly well and made sure I finished, I could salvage the disaster!
And doing so was paid of with 8th.
That was some consolation and reward for the incredibly tough job it was to do the 58 laps in that car condition, and with my G25 numbing my hands by the end!!

I knew tons would crash out, but I was surprised by how many of the front runners were gone (including me).
And it was annoying to have made up such a good car setup and just go and wreck it myself anyway!

I guess my "Realfeel" needs some adjusting in strengths!!
Otherwise stop using it!!! Because while it was great with a perfect car, it went spastic when there was suspension damage!!
I would have turned OFF the FFB after it happened, if I knew a way how to do that.

Grats to Craig, you are a confirmed alien, Steve you have always been and aubry very nice finish.

I practiced hard for this race only for the race jitters to get the best of me, I qualy'd slower than my warm-up laps aarrgghh.

Race started off screwy, the lights that were not seen, then the pace car slamming on the brakes, but once i managed to settle in and turn some laps it was almost over for myself, I pitted as required and on exit i managed to get all sideways and wrong on pit road and hit the rail severely damaging the car, I opted to park the car for many laps to settle down after my disastrous day at the track.

Scott, last I checked the formation lap is done at a slow speed, my mistake cost me my race, your impatience cost you yours. F@#K, no matter how you slice it scott, the guy in back is always at fault, and if you don't like the American style tracks on the calender...Adios Amigos!
