Fun-run: TPSCC

Well, if I must lose connection I`d rather it be before the race started than halfway through. Still, what a disappointment.

I don't know who was in the Mopar car at the start of the race, but thanks a lot for the 2nd lap spin out. There is supposed to be give and take but I guess that's said so much that it's ignored. If you see an opening, that doesn't always mean take it, because there may not be enough room to actually make the pass. I didn't get to see the replay so I don't know what was going on behind me, but all I felt was a huge smack from behind coming out of turn four and that was the end of my evening on the 2nd lap. I had four flat tires and couldn't move....hows that for an even worse race. These are supposed to be fun run races(keyword "Fun"), but I have more dnf's than finishes because of these type of incidents. It's hard to avoid wrecks when someone else pulls you into the wreck. I want to enjoy racing the TPSCC, but if we can't have clean racing then there's not much point to even racing. If I was somehow responsible for the lap 2 wreck then I apologize and it's all on me. Anyways, I qualified 3rd and dnf'ed.

I could not agree more Tom. I was getting a little nervous at how people were being so aggressive during practice, but it simply escalated. It seems like we need to do something that makes people take a deep breath and drive with greater consideration to other competitors, not sure what would work since having a race steward for every car is unreasonable. The events locations are great, the cars and physics are great, we just need to refine how best to structure gameplay so that the competition is consistent with all the other events on R2P

Well trying to "give" and not take is what caused me to too drift high and catch the safer barrier out cropping.All heck broke loose.For that I do apoligise.Sorry all.
I was just trying too stay out of trouble and let the racey fellas buy cleanly.
Maybe switch too the Bush cars a little slower and a bit more stable.

I feel your pain, Larry - had similar problems myself. Didn't disco exactly, but the result was the same. Had just retaken the lead and was cruising around slow on about the 3rd or 4th caution when suddenly, poof! Black screen, no signal to monitor, sound was looping and no response from my PC. Dunno what it was since I've never had that same thing happen before - nothing's OC'ed or tweaked in the slightest. Whatever it was, it caused total PC lockup -couldn't esc out, alt tab, nothing - had to hit the reset button to get it unstuck. Hope my car didn't do anything crazy in the few seconds before I hit the button. Nothing I could do. But cuss... ;-)

A true bummer, since I had a car that was good enough to win. Spent over an hour getting it set up, ran it offline with the AI, etc. I don't get that luxury often so it stunk to see it go down the tubes like that. So it goes!

For the twenty laps or so I was around, it was fun. A couple of observations on what I saw up to then; don't be afraid to go high in this mod; if there's a fast car ahead on the bottom, get some help and go up top - it works great. Also, as noted before by others, people need to be more patient, especially on a plate track. I saw (and felt) lots of side by side action when what needed to happen was for the guys with good cars to hook up and try to gap the rest. Plenty of time for racing in the last 3rd of the race; the 1st 2/3rds are just to get set up and stay out of trouble.

Tom, that was me in the Mopar car, but I have absolutely no knowledge of hitting anyone in the first few laps. The replay could prove me wrong, and if I am, then I'm sorry.

Anyway, my race went great actually! Qualified 12th with an average time, but managed to get into the front pack pretty quickly. Then there was an incident which unfolded in front of me which could only be described as sheer stupidity. The "Budweiser" car had lost touch with his pack, and the car I was drafting with caught up to him, and tried to get into the draft. The Bud car then proceeded to swerve about, trying to deny the draft, which resulted in the other car trying to swerve as well, which ended up with the bud car bouncing off into me. There wasn't a yellow for a good 40 seconds after that, so I came out of the pits at the head of the lapped cars line. Luckily the way the following yellows played out meant I was able to get onto the lead lap. One of those times I got a drive-thru for pit-lane speeding, so that put me down 3/4 of a lap on the leaders. Luckily I got another yellow, so I was able to get up to the front.

Towards the end of the race, my tires were getting really cooked, and I thought I was a goner for sure, but then I got another lucky yellow, and I was back in the game. About 15 to go, and another yellow comes out, but 3 of the 4 cars ahead of me spin out behind the pace car(!). So with not many to go there was just me and Conor, and about 5 lapped cars. That restart was just insane, I'm sure Conor was holding his breath into T1 that time just as I was, it was just so crowded. On the backstretch the same Bud car was causing trouble again, and there was another wreck which very nearly involved me. Next restart is with 5 to go, and Conor and I set off. There's 2 lapped cars ahead of us, and they go ahead and have their own battle. with about 3 to go, Conor has a big moment, and I got the lead, which I was luckily able to keep into the end!

Great race guys! Glad to have my first online stock-car win ever, and at a plate track too! I'm rather proud of myself.:P

If it wasn't you Tom, then I apologize. Your car is the last car I remember seeing in my rear view before I got taken out of the race. I had a very fast car and didn't get to show anything at the end. My frustration grows as I am involved in more dnf finishes.

I already was below average when it came to speed, and then to add insult to injury I wasn't getting 100% throttle, I'm guessing at about 20 laps into the race. This made my top speed to be about 180, and my cornering speed dropping down to 175, not to mention being run over on restarts. Sorry if I caused anyone problems by getting in the way. This was a learning experience for me, as it was my first rFactor and first online stock car race.

Now that was fun!
Thanks Conor for keeping me in the lead for 20 laps or so, it was nerve wracking but a good experience.
I'm happy to see our team finish in 4th, 5th & 6th.
