F3-P Brands Hatch Feature

I had a good start, qualified pretty well, settled in to ride the race out, was doing good, then I come around a corner and WHAM, someone was moving very slow and I was unable to react. I am pretty sure my brain knew what was going on, but no alert signals made it to my limbs.

After that I got into a few more altercations with the wall, the car was unbearable to drive, I tried very hard to stay out of everyone's way, Tim I hope staying out was OK.

As much as I hate it, big picture racing... was able to salvage a top ten after being down to 19 at one point.

But, as they say, I bad day at the track is still better than anything else I could have been doing :).

Lots of good cars got tangled up in a mess in the first few laps. I ended up getting gathered up in one of these. I went in for repairs but the chassis was perdy' badly bent resulting in me loosing it again. At this point the left front wheel wasn't touching the ground. This is where exhaust fumes and adrenalin began to have an adverse effect on my better judgment and I started driving toward the pits off the racing surface. My thinking or lack there-of was to get it fixed just good enough to make a few laps and pick up a few spots on cars that were DNF. Fortunately for me official Tim put me out of my misery and asked me to park it. I got a coke in the concession stand and enjoyed watching the rest of the event.

Lots of self spins out there. Some collected other guys that were in control. Hopefully it is just a lesson learned.

Got a good start, and passed a couple of cars before Druids. Had a few side-by-side corners with Miguel, taking a defensive line a couple of times, and settled into a good fight with him chasing hard, about a second behind. We slowly moved up to 5th & 6th (passing some cars in front that had gone off), and got cleanly around several lapped cars.

We kept that up until lap 8, when I learned what's like to be on the faster side of the lapped/lapping car condundrum (after being on the slower side dozens of times before). We closed rapidly on a lapped car approaching Dingle Dell. The lapped car slowed much more quickly for the turn than I anticipated, which left me with an unfortunate choice...punt him, or put myself off and try to recover. Knowing what it's like to be in his shoes, I chose the latter, going off the left side, over the sand trap, and hard into the tire wall. The wreck destroyed my front left corner, and my race was over.

Watching the replay, my closing rate might have made it tough for the lapped car to know we were coming up so quickly, but it was frustrating (at the time) not to be given room on the straight leading up to the turn by a lapped car that didn't appear to be racing anyone in the immediate vicinity, when a battle for 5th position came through. In hindsight, I should have been more patient (at the time I thought I was being patient by not forcing my way through the inside), which might have allowed me to slow enough to stay on track behind the other car. No hard feelings...just a learning process for me.

Was a very fun race while it lasted, though. I enjoyed watching the other battles on track from the paddock while waiting for the sprint race.

Well after seeing the entry list and the practice and quali times a top ten finish looked grim.

But as we always find out there are drivers and there are racers. I was up into 8th after 1 lap from 14th quali.

I slowly crept up thanks to attrition. Had a good fight with some faster guys that came from the back but they never could pass me. Stanislav did a nice gesture by letting me back by after he bumped me in the chicane. Good sportsmanship!!

I had nothing for the top 3 and I am very lucky to get 4th. I guess no mistakes is the key sometimes. I drove very conservative so I wouldnt go off.

I could not get a decent lap in practice or qualifying. Monday night I had been cranking out laps in the 1:25 range:).

Starting from way in the back was going to be painful, bad start to boot. Managed to weave my way through all the crashes in front of me for 5 laps, then passing a slow car I made way too early an apex, put my self off removing the rear wing and putting me out.
