Johnfatboy Racing Vintage GT: Oschersleben

Wow, that was a blast. There are some great drivers here!!!! I qual'd a PB and ended up 2nd to Connor's FIAT ABARTH!!!!! That boy is smooth.
Lost a position right at the start to Rick but got it back. HAd Rick knocking on the door for 5-7 laps and he finally got around me. Ran a few laps chasing Rick, but he was slowly pulling away.
Then Tommy and I ran nose to tail for 20-23 laps and swapped position once. A couple laps after Tommy passed me, he lost it out of turn 2 or 3 and I got back the position. Took Tommy a few laps to get back on my bumper and hound the Sh!T out of me till race end. Nice running guys and see you on the server.

That was a great race. I know i was saying i was gona run the TR4 but i was having trouble being consistant with that car so i settled with the Alpha. Gave her at the start and jumped a couple of positions, holding it with Mike Avery and Ray Nelson behind me was a struggle. I was in 7th position for quite a bit.I think i had Barret breathing down my back too.. Finnaly they all made some smooth passes. After a while they had some trouble and I passed them, then a mis shift into 1st ruined it for me lap 36 and i did a 360 fell back and i held my 10th position with Pete Shlough right behind me in the Lotus.
When i saw that Abarth comming up, i did not know it was Conor, until i heard the anouncer say get out of the way...lmao Great finish man...with that car!!

Wow. Toughest race I've ever had. Most satisfying one too. Qualied ok. but had to leave the server to reduce my graphics. Was surprising to be in the teens for FPS, and that was just Q. Came back in, but knew I couldn't do another Q run, so settled for last grid spot. No biggie... knew I had a top ten car anyway. Just some work to do for it.

Got race underway alright. Surprised on T1 in lap 2 when someone went wide and rejoined the track at speed. They T-boned the guy in front of me, who in turn got bounced into my line with unavoidable contact. I only lost a headlight in the exchange. Whew!

Slowly worked my way up in positions as spins and offs started happening ahead. Eventually made my way up to 7th, but some bobbles on my part, and some good driving behind me knocked me back to 9th. Psyched myself out at that point, and summed up a series of small mistakes with a spin. Dead last in 14th. Again. OK, just start the race again.

Surprised myself to claw all the way back up to the field, and worked a few passes. And this is when it got *really* interesting. I was battling with a variety of Alfas, and none of them could match me in braking and cornering. But I had nothing in the fast sections, so it was constant rubber band effect. Ended up with an endless bloody battle with John R. trying to take 10th from him. Had it a couple times too, but again, no legs. I had a near spin on the last lap in the twisties pushing to get that last chance for 10th. Didn't end up losing a spot, but I didn't break the top 10 as I'd hoped. I did set a PB lap time. Nice to see I had a car which would have finished much better than my driving acheived. At least I'm seeing I have better skills than I used to. Just have to work on that ever elusive consistency.

The racing with this mod just keeps getting better and better. Thanks to everyone I battled with for tough but fair competition.

i just remembered of someone losing it right in front of me and i avoided a t-bone by clipping his front end, was spectacular, i was like holy crap!! :) did not save replay so dont remember who it was.

The good news this week was that it was action packed with great battles with Mike, John, and Barrett. The down side was why it happened. Heading into turn 1 of lap 2 I braked like I always have and as soon as I touched the brakes the car dove right into the wall - a week's worth of preparation instantly out the window for something I hadn't experienced in practice under similar circumstances. Bouncing around the T1 infield I came out headlong across the track - using the different views only confused the issue - and smack in front of David - I am sooooo sorry. Now in last and feeling like a total ass I resisted hitting escape and slogged it out. I had some fun battles working my way back up then a slight off and I have to let everybody back through. I eventually work my way back around Mike and into 8th but am having troubles with T1 braking as my car is pretty shot at this point. Then knowing it was the last lap and having had trouble locking the brakes too early for T1 I have the opposite happen and slide off. Knowing Mike and Rick were approaching I decided to not risk getting back on quickly and settle back into 9th. Three incidents, 30 seconds worth of time wasted and I turn 6th or 7th into 9th - where is the emoticon for patting myself on the back.....

I had a reasonable qual that put in 7th on the grid. I had a good jump at the start and could have passed the guy in front of me but I was boxed in so had to slow down and ended up letting Avery by. I took lap 1 really easy, calming down along the way. By lap three I was ready to start pushing and I caught up to Mike Avery, John R and a couple others. After a few laps I made it by the group of about 4 cars and started pulling away until I dipped my left rear in the grass coming out of the hairpin to the back section. Then I cut across the track out of control only to spin left again right into the middle of the track. Then John smacked me and I think someone else tagged me too. Sorry about that guys.

Well, I lost 3 or 4 positions due to my inept driving but I was able to catch back up again and get by everybody again. That was great fun dicing it up in there with that group of 4. I think Pete was in there too.

Towards the end of the race Barret (I think) was closing on me fast. With 2 laps to go he was breathing down my neck. I was barely able to hold him off to finish 6th.

all i can say Jared is that was awsome..sorta sereal like almost slow motion watching you and trying to figure out what to do without losing it myself or having anyone pass me, i had two alpha breathing down my neck...:)

I was actually quite surprised no one took the Abarth. This was the perfect track for it...nice tight corners that require a lot of momentum to go fast through which this car really enjoyed. All in all, my race was trouble-free. When I got up to traffic, it got a little difficult because I could never pass into corners because of the lack of speed. And when I got up to a cluster of Alfas at one point, it really got interesting and I ended up duking it out with you guys :P. Came out unscathed so there were no issues. Very clean race :)

Once again this mod gives us some fantastic action. I'm impressed with how good this mod is about suspension of disbelief. They made a pretty special mod if you ask me!

I decided to follow my pre-season strategy of mid-field placing with good rental points return. I Qualified and finished in 8th in the end, but what a ride it was in the Jr.

John R was giving me fits in that freaking GTA. I had great flow through the twisty bits. The several hundred laps I've done at Oschersleben over time helps here I think. I think I passed John 4 or 5 times in the second sector but could never make it stick. He would blow by me on straights, undoing the work that was costing me tires every lap! Finally he had a bobble and I was able to pull away about 3/4 way through the race.

John, you're getting better every week and you seem pretty composed under some heavy pressure. Pretty impressive for a "new guy"!

I've turned about 6 laps at Goldenport so I'll be on the server this week for sure.

Mike K, P&G 1.02 is released which apparently fixes some exit crashes we have experienced. We should do some testing on the practice server this week eh? Let's see about arranging some Wednesday night close quarters practice this week!
