Vintage GT: Goldenport

Aplogies for the abbreviated race- apparently it's a feature of GTR2 that there's a built-in lap limit which may not scale correctly for add-on tracks. We'll investigate that for the Limerock race to make sure it doesn't happen again.

First half of the race was fun for me- chased Bill Greer for a long time; he'd slide that Alfa into a corner and nearly come to a stop, I'd cruise on up the inside, and then he'd blow me away on the following straight. Rinse, repeat! We did that corner after corner for the first 10 minutes. Sometimes I was held up when I couldn't find room to get inside, and next thing I know Bryce is in the mix, and got ahead of us both for a little while. That all settled out eventually and I ran the second half alone. Quite surprised when it ended early!

I took the mandatory drive-through penalty and soon after decided to park it.

I went with the Abarth Group 2 this time to cash in on some credit points and thankfully it didn't hurt me too much in the standings. I wasn't expecting much in this race and what I got out of it was...well, not much :P. Most of the race, I spent alone in 7th trying to catch up to Pete and Jared ahead of me since 8th and beyond weren't threatening. I couldn't get to them initially since the car was so slow but towards the end, it sounded like they got into each other or something and I was able to close the distance on both of them. Even then, I still couldn't keep up with them...but with a few laps to go, Jared went off wide in the 90 degree left hander and I grabbed the spot. Held on those last laps for a 6th place finish. Not bad :)

This is a fun little track, but I couldn't keep up with many of the Abarth 2s! I picked the Abarth 2 to save rental points for future. Oh well, I missed the first race anyway, so I don't expect much from this season as far as points go, but it sure it fun racing this mod.

Sorry to whoever it was I got into there near the beginning - it was another Abarth and we touched in turn 1 after a few laps and you went spinning. I tried to stay low, but I guess you didn't see me. I think you passed me shortly afterwards anyway, so hopefully you were not too badly affected.

Was a fun race for sure...Had a great start but that fell short got punted sometime early in the race...cant remember much though and who was where but i ended up last...pushed my litte Alpha and caught up but just could not get to the top 10..:) anyways, dam that r.f. tire would light up eh?

Surprising race for me. The Elite performed much better than I was expecting. But I tainted an otherwise PB race with far more contact than I've ever experienced before. My apologies to everyone I tagged. I was surprised a few times at how the Elite would suddenly run up on a slower car in mid turn. A few times this really caught me out, and I tapped a couple people. I slowed for a few seconds each time for self-penalty, and especially to make sure I didn't gain advantage over the victim (or to let them regain if I did). In particular I got into Jared (EDIT - sorry, said John R. originally). when he started to slide wide and that guaranteed a spin for him. I appreciate the TS mention that I didn't have to wait, but watching the replay, it looked like I may have prevented you any chance to save the car from spinning. Also, near the end of the race I tagged a lapped Alfa Jr. He was letting me pass on the outside cleanly, but I slid on power oversteer and it caught again and drove me me right into his door. He ended up bounced off the track and against a wall, but it looked light. I hope there was no damage and you didn't suffer for it.

Like I said... far more contact than I'm accustomed to by my own hand. I'm not normally running with the front of the pack, let alone competitive with them. And being so evenly matched, I was in endless close quarters battles... something I have far too little experience in. I really need to learn that part of the craft.

someone explain why there are differnt laps comleted. Why when the trailing racers have not completed the race but it sais they have? i finish my laps and still it sais less laps then the front runners.

Pete - That was me you tagged. I was right on the verge of losing it, you just helped me a little :)

I enjoyed the race quite a bit despite getting beat by Connor in a slower car - again. I started mid-pack and got a jump on Pete and picked up a spot before turn 3. I was able to pull away from Pete for a little bit while trying to keep up with Rick and the 3 Alfa's up front. Pete slowly caught up and we traded places a couple of times, all the while being pretty close. His car was faster in the straights and but a little loose in the corners sometimes so I was able to keep up with him. Finally after he tagged me I let him stay in front cause it seemed he was finally into a groove and faster than me.

Unfortunately for me, that tap allowed Connor to catch up. Coming up on lapped traffic I went faster into a corner than Bryce (I think) and had to tap the brakes to aviod punting him. That was just enough to let Connor by. I was catching him again (slowly) when the race ended.

It was a fun race, but getting caught up in the lapped traffic screwed me up. I am not by any means blaming anyone but myself. I usually do not have to worry about lapped traffic cause I am the one getting lapped so it was a new experience for me. I am looking forward to next week!

When the leader crosses the line to finish the race, your race is over the next time you cross the finish line. If the leader has lapped you (which he had), he ends up completing one more lap than you.

Frustrating start - I got spun from behind on lap 1 - no one waited or served a stop and go that I could tell, Things got pretty jumbled early into lap 2 and Hutch had to correct inside to avoid someone and I spun him and waited for him to get back in front which he did very quickly - not sure how he did tho, then on lap 4 T1 I get sent off again after leaving room to the inside. I haven't seen a replay but there doesn't seem to be much patience being exhibited at times. After all this I worked back up to 8th after Ed made a mistake and stayed there the remainder of the race, the gap would shrink to about a second then grow to 2+. All the early skirmishing left me too far behind to challenge for any higher position. And this track played out about how I thought it would with little passing once the order got sorted early on.
