RACE 07 - Touring

sooo, that sucked. I lead 7 of the 10 laps, only to throw it away on the 8th lap. I qualified 5th, with a 1:24.7, and on the start, I jumped up to 2nd place. the guy ahead lost it under braking on the 8th corner, and I took the lead and was steadily gapping the guy in 2nd place. I was leading the entire field till lap 7, when I let the guy in the 2007 WTCC class by. then, he was only a few tenths ahead of me, so he was messing up my braking points. I threw it off the track on the 4th turn, and came down to 2nd place. then, at the end of that lap, I messed up big time, and went out to the wall on the final turn and hit it. I lost 10 damn seconds and 2nd place because of that! anyway, the guy in the red Alfa was 1.5 second up the road. on the final lap, he got caught up in Mini traffic, and I threw my car on the grass in turn 9 which set me up perfectly to dive down the inside into the BMW M3 shaped hole between him and the kerbs. with 2 corners to go, I slid up between him and the inner part of the track. he tried to defend and go under me for the final corner, but I predicted that, and delayed my throttle long enough for him not to be able to pass me. he had to get off the gas, and he stayed behind me all the way to the finish line.

Good race, yea Jo I was foolish/apathetic b/c it was a funrun and fooled around passing the minis and thinking that they might block and slow you down enough so you would have to pass me on the final corner. But you kept it down and flew right by me!! Nice job, fun race, I forgot what happened in race2!!

Was P1 for most of quali until Tommy took it from me on his last fast lap. He has now made the "list." :-)

R:
I had a wonderful start and Tommy had a horrible one so at T1 I had a huge lead. Held that lead for a while until braking into the hairpin for the upteenth time the car just went straight. I have no idea why. I have done that turn 1000 times and 1000 times since (it seems) but that one time it just went straight.

I don't know how much R07 models the racing line versus the gray. I did try a wider line that lap so it would be good to know if that is something to account for.

There is also a chance that I locked the fronts since my brake balance was incorrectly set due to the wrong setup file being loaded. I didn't hear them skidding so I am still confused on why the car just went straight.

Got back on the track and had a couple fun battles. I kept gaining positions heading back to the front only to bone it and give them up. Not a pattern I am proud of.
