USA e30: Monza

pretty fun race, missed turn 1 a few times and finally got blak flag after moving up to 8th, had to stop on the end of lap 10 and take the penalty which knocked me bak to 14th. there was a huge accident in turn 1 lap 1, it was crazy, have to look at replay to see who caused it

First time racing with you guys. I started 3rd, was trapped behind Rob as he had a terrible start. I saw a bunch of cars on the right side passing me. After everyone cleared, I pulled toward the middle and stayed in that lane. Before I knew it, I saw a car spinning from the inside of the straight to the outside, taking up multiple cars at the same time. I saw Rob was hesistant for a sec, I jumped to the inside and got past everything. From there on I was trying to survive and finish the race in one piece. I ended up staying clean the whole race until the last lap, the worn tires finally got to me.

I am thorougly dissapointed with this race. I'm surprised too because these are my favorite cars in all the various games. I can't catch a break in this series.

I didn't qualify where I wanted, but at least I was on the inside row. I got a great launch considering my tall 1st gear and was poised to be P1 through turn 1. Rob didn't make a great start and Kevin went a bit deep. I couldn't have done any better with the braking and positioning. Some higher power felt otherwise. After getting pummeled no less than 3 times in the fisrt chicane my car was destroyed. I had to rotate the wheel 20 degrees just to drive straight. Nonetheless, I would not quit. I refuse to take a DNF. Dammit, they better scrape me off the road or the wall before I take a DNF. I had a number of good battles with Scott, John and Omar. The car wouldn't draft well after the damage and it was very difficult to keep on track. My only saving grace were the brake zones.

Sorry for the little tap in the lesmos on the last lap Scott. I couldn't live with myself if I got by you that way so I backed off. It is the gentlemen thing to do.

Missed this one because my Internet was down, and as a result wasn't even able to unregister. Hope there wasn't someone on the waiting list that wasn't able to race because of my connectivity problems. :(

Congrats to Tom in his first race! Great job!

As for the race, well I bogged the start pretty bad (forgot to change my 1st gear), seemed like everyone passed me, went from Pole to 10th by the time I was at T1, but exited T1 in 2nd?! There was carnage, sorta expected there would be carnage, and there was. Somehow I managed to tip toe my way thru the mess.

My first 2 laps were not good, forgot to change my brake bias with the full fuel and the fronts were locking up which sent me 1/2 into the kitty litter.

Les seized the moment and made his pass. I was able to draft back past into the T1 brake zone.

Finally I got my head down and started putting in some good laps, but Tom had a pretty good gap by then 5-6 seconds. I clawed it back to about 3 seconds, but got my 2nd cut warning so I had to back off and not risk a penalty.

Then on the last lap, looks like Tom may have taken a little too much of the outside curb and I found myself t use this track as an example -- you will have better race in the future.

Mike it's no prob. I knew you'd be coming after me. I expect nothing less!! lol I just made sure i hit my brake points cuz my tires were shot. I got hit a total of about 5 times this race. But just kept it going. Had much damage also. So the draft didn't help me at all. Again just fortunate to finish. Even more happy to take 5th. Considering the turn one melee. Congrats Tom on your first race being a victory.

@ Riley - I'd wondered why you pulled off; I was behind you and puzzled by that, though not entirely unhappy. ;-)

Glad to put another Monza race in the rearview mirror. Really don't like the place; only two significant corners on the whole track, and the rest consists of one after the other of the thing I hate most - chicanes! OK, the most aside from pitstops...

Qualified in 5th about on expected pace at 2:00.4, but fell way back on the start when Rob bogged off the line. But then the inevitable Monza mayhem unfolded in the first chicane and I was way back up to 3rd coming out! Tried to hang in, but dropped a wheel off on the exit of 2nd Lesmo a couple laps in and shot across the track into the inside wall. Unfortunately the car bounced hard off the wall and spun back onto the track in front of my teammate John, who collected me at high speed. Sorry John!

My car was missing parts and was pretty hosed after that, so I had to drive the rest of the race with the steering out of whack and the handling off-kilter. Still managed to have a good dice along the way with Mark, who was really patient with my crawling through the chicanes; he'd get a run on me coming out of every one, but took several laps to get close enough to stick it inside under braking. Unfortunately when the chance did come we were in Parabolica, and with worn tires and lots of entry speed we had contact and I went gravel surfing. Just one of those things - I know it had to be frustrating behind me. Saw him pull into the pits afterwards, so I hope it was a course penalty like Riley's or such and not anything to do with me. That was just door to door contact and he had the inside line.

I owe one more apology to William who I got into in the last chicane - sorry man, I just wasn't expecting you to check up nearly that much on entry and it just caught me out.

So, not a pretty night for me; I sucked, I crashed, and then sucked some more. Grats to the podium; TMak for the well-earned win, Rob for super pace and Les for a very solid 3rd.

First DNF from driver error. :-(

I had a killer start, split the slit and was looking good. Here comes T1, and there goes T1..LOL i put it into the run-off, waited for everyone else to pass and then started from last. After a few laps i put the LR into the sand, and well there you have it.

Good Race, congrats T Mak with the victorious debut!

Got thru T1 clean by being carefull and predictable. Rob pulled away and me and Les duked it out to the end, within 2 seconds of each other. You had me on the whole track except the 2 90 right handers Les. Good clean racing, thanks for being patient but you could have stuck your nose in a few times ;p We both made mistakes wich resulted in the passing and I came out on the wrong end.

I'm looking pretty good in this series, as long as I finish well Les shouldn't catch me and since ROB WILL BE MISSING THE REMAINDER OF THE RACES I might end up on top!!! Right Rob?

Wow, what happened in turn one was crazy! With all the cars in front of me, I could not locate my braking point and overshot it royally. I thought I did one heck of a job weaving and performing crash avoidance -- and nearly congratulated myself -- until I landed in the grass and found Mike's front bumper. Well, Mike stopped my forward momentum but I knocked him onto the track and into traffic where he was pounded five more times. In all, including the initial punt, I counted eight contacts to his car. The man should get some kind of award for finishing sixth after taking all that beating.

Anyhow, overshooting the braking point for that first turn was so exciting, I had to do it again... and ended up punting Garry. Sorry, Garry. As a result, I had to do time in racing jail, my first and hopefully last, although doubtful.
