F3-P Brands Hatch Sprint

My apologies to Stanislav Gorbunov, I ran into the back of you on the first lap of the Sprint race, I hope I wasn't the reason you had a DNF. :(

My first race was what I expected it to be clean and friendly racing. Had a blast guys thanks for the racing and I will be seing you on the track.

Dang, thought I could put together a decent run through the field (though I had nothing for Pat). Lost one position to Aubrey when I came out of the last left hander where the two cars ahead of me were tangling with a lapped car. I had to take evasive action to avoid them. I would've gotten past both of them, but I ended up putting 4 wheels off in the process and I didn't want to make the positions like that even though it was done trying to avoid hitting them. I lifted, tried ducking in behind, but Aubrey who was behind me blew by me and I not only didn't gain two spots, but I lost one due to my gesture. This would end up costing me a finish.

Soon afterward when those cars in front of me nailed the binders at the chicane (I typically don't lift there) I had to take more evasive action than I'd anticipated and crashed badly. Elected to remove myself from the race rather than be a hazard. Dang.

I had better luck in the sprint race. I settled in to the back of the pack. I really just wanted to run some consistent laps and avoid mistakes; but I got it loose in the dog leg and bumped the outside rail. After the brush I had to hold the steering wheel one quarter turn to the left. Now the car turned real good right but not left. It took a few laps to get the feel for it. So now I was really off pace but still in this bent up condition I wanted to try to finish without anymore blunders. I was able to settle in and get er' done. Not a great finish...but a finish.

This was a much more enjoyable race for me than the feature. I got a bit sideways at the start, but managed to hold on to it and get past a car before T1. Had a good early fight with Jimmy Jones, going side-by-side into the fast right-hander at the top of the hill, with 2 other cars right behind us.

After a couple of laps, we were in a 4-way fight, with Kev Lock and Alex Fed joining the fun. I think that was the most intense racing I've done here yet...trying to stay competitive in a fast car on a tough track, without taking anyone out.

As the laps continued, we all made some driving errors: some forced by spinning cars ahead, some unforced, and some with more dire consequences than others.

Towards the end of the race, I managed to find myself in 5th, with the gap timer showing Jarrod Barclay closing fast from 6th. I managed to keep just enough of a gap to hold onto 5th at the finish, but one more lap and I think it might have been a different story. Ironically enough, Jarrod had been kind enough to give me a setup during practice earlier in the day, that I ended up using in the race. Even with equal cars and an equal setup, he was much much faster. Guess I need some more practice!

I have to say that I enjoyed the feature/sprint setup of this event. Makes it easier to have a good race, and makes the time spent preparing for the race that much more worthwhile.

This race was a blast. Had a good fight with Barry and Mitch for most the race. I beat my PB by a second in this race thats how hard I was pushing most the way. Had a great start and got around 2 guys(including Barry..Thanks chap ;) into T1. Mitch got away a second as me and Barry had a scrap going with a few other (faster)cars behind. Pat blew by and drove off in the sun as I hunted down Mitch.

Didnt have any problems besides REALLY slow lap traffic. No mistakes again and a 2 car SimGear Podium!!

Man, this one was intense for sure. I got off to a slow start and just tried not to freak out as there were faster cars behind me gunning for positions. Shane got the jump on me and blew by me in T1. I had a great time racing against Shane and Mitch. There were times when the 3 of us were almost sharing the same space when we came up to slower traffic. Made for some hair raising racing for sure. Tommy was coming up on us fast and I guess my being slower in the chicane made him take the evasive action. I tap my brakes there........now I know better. Sorry if I ruined your race. Mitch and Shane were battling hard and I spectated from 1 second back until lap 10. Mitch got a little loose before the long left hander and I got under him (luckily). I held onto the position and finish on the podium. Really happy to finish there. Thanks for the laps guys, I had a great time and knocked off some time with the help of other racers who shared their setups. Hopefully we'll get a bonus from SimGear for finishing 2nd and 3rd :) :) :)

Was fun. Looking forweard to next week.

No sweat, Barry, nor any hard feelings. :) I just wasn't expecting to slow so much there. I'd lifted early on, but didn't anticipate so much braking. I don't think it was just you, though. Looked like you had a car or two in front who would've prevented you from going in WOT even if you'd wanted.

Ah well, I should've anticipated this and left more room, but it was a sprint and Pat was pulling away quickly! :) At least I didn't take anyone else out in the process.
