Estoril Ameri Cup

I am really suprised to land a 4th. I really thought I had a decent setup for tonight, but warm-up proved me really wrong. I made some drastic changes to my setup prior to qualy. They seemed to help a bit, but I was still way off the pace of the top 5.
I got a good start but backed out of trying to make a pass into T1. This turned out to be a good thing as a few cars tangled into T1. This moved me from 11th to 8th. My patience was rewarded again later the same lap when a group went off at Orelha. I'm now up to 5th and I'm on lap 1! I hung onto Esteban for the next few laps before he went off heading into Parabolica. I'm now in 4th. That didn't last long as I slid coming out of T1 and Esteban took the position back. I followed him for the remainder of the race and figured the only shot of taking him was if he made a mistake. He finally made a big mistake coming out of Gancho and I took over 4th for good.

Happy to Q high and the start was good, then I got punted :( . Apology received and accepted, so no problem just be carefull! Luckily this sim has almost no damage so I was able to continue just fine. I was next to last and worked my way up. It was fun making some passes and watching others spin. Good racing with you Brothers Mueller!

Tnx!...I was actually trying to chase CM, and went from 21 to 7th and he went from 20 to 6th...Rad-3 gave me issues with the engine beginning lap 2....Then, because of engine overheating I had to short shift and slow down from lap 3 to keep the engine alive, which I did, but to the prize of loosing 11 places...Apologies to Matt Sandbergh, I tapped him as I had no place to go when he found himself in front of a spinning car and he had to brake more than expected...

Well that was actually a pretty boring race for me. I was hoping I had more for Steve and Kevin, but I didn't. I had some great qual laps going but would screw up a corner and that was that.

I got within a 2 secs of Steve and it was good see him lock up a few times, but I never really had the pace to get close enough for a serious pass attempt.

Congrats to Kevin and Steve.

But as far as Driver Ranking, I'm ahead of Steve and that's all that matters ;) he he

Well, I am the purple car furthest into the grass in the picture. So I ended up in nearly last place early on in the race. From there I had some fun moving back up to 12th. Honestly though, I mostly passed cars in the grass. I did not have the pace to compete here. Heck, my qualifying lap was my PB and still 15th place! Oh well, maybe next time.

I really apologize if there was anyone on the waiting list that I created problems. I had a last minute business engagement with no possibility to connect and withdraw from the race. I got home at 9.59 exactly and withdrew and I hope that was not too late. Sorry.

I knew after Qal that I was in trouble. 37.1 is a good lap for me in these cars & that got me a 13th place & way off pace from the front runners.
I pretty much can't set these cars up and/or drive them very well, so finishing 7th was a gift.
It felt like I used my tires up about half way through,and I have no idea why because I was so damn slow.

That was a fun one. Better than expected, too; only got about 20 minutes pre-race running in so I couldn't get the car sorted that well. It was ok though; good thing I found a base set leftover from the fun run we did here a while back. I'd forgotten about that one, so I was happy to have something to start from.

Got it down to a low 37 offline and entered the race thinking that wasn't going to get it done. Still had a bad push in spots, especially in the last, looong corner leading onto the s/f straight. The one you really want to be good in... ;-)

A few more laps (+ some adrenalin, no doubt) bought me a bit more pace, then dropping the fuel load for Q nicked me into the 35's just in time, despite getting stuck behind some traffic on the laps my tires were best. That proved just enough to squeak into 2nd grid spot about a micronanosecond ahead of Rob. Kevin just smoked us all, and I expected him to disappear in the race while Rob would be crawling up my back!

Race start went OK and to my surprise I was able to hang with Kevin. Took all I had though, so I was glad he pulled me a little bit clear of Rob. If that had been a 3-way dice I think my head would've exploded. ;-) Kevin was a touch quicker than me, but little errors on both our parts had the gap slinkying while staying tight. It would take a mistake by Kevin for me to get by, and I got one when he almost looped it out of T2. Thought for sure he'd gone around as I went by into the lead, but when I looked there he was on my tail - nice save!

Was a bit disoriented at first being in the lead suddenly, so I tried to dial it back a half-click just to avoid outbraking myself until I found a rhythm with open track ahead. Didn't get much time for it since Kevin was right there, and I was sure nearly every time off the last corner he'd get me down the straight. After a couple of laps or so I pushed wide and he got by again, so we were back to where we'd been. I hung in for a bit but started making some small mistakes and locking up as the fronts started to give up grip. Then I let myself get distracted looking at some upcoming lapped traffic and wondering if I could use it to advantage. Instead, I ended up high-centering myself on the curbing in the chicane section near the end of the circuit - DOH!

That was it for me since I'd been doing all I could just to maintain Kevin's pace. But it didn't stop me from turning my brain off then and trying to catch back up. Once more, DOH! That pretty much cooked what grip was left out of my fronts and for a lap or so thought I might slip back into Rob's evil clutches ;-). Last surprise of the race was seeing Kevin almost come back to me on the last lap; dunno if he was being kind or got held up by traffic, but he should've been well clear - the 1-2 race wasn't really as close as the finish time would imply.

Nice to get some close, hard racing in with no paint scuffs for a change!
