Euro G3: Monza

Couldn't have asked for more than a top 5 really in a field full of Vipers. I just tried to drive my own race and beat any previous 996 Cup Monza times from previous races, and I comfortably did that, so I'm happy with my performance. I was all set to take 4th until I lucked into a podium when Darren got caught up with a backmarker. Shame the races aren't longer, I could have had a go at Joco if tyre wear had come into play. Still, I'm just suprised I was in touch with him by the end in a car a second a lap slower :-)

Was having a decent race just keeping Joco in view and towards the end I caught up to him as he caught a back marker through Ascari. I hung back and tried to get a good run out of the chicane, hoping Joco would miss time his approach to the back marker. Something happened and they came together. I aimed for the empty track and would have taken 2nd, but the Porsche got knocked back across the track right into my path and then I hit him too. Nothing I could do about it. I had a puncture and limped round the last 4 laps losing a spot to Scott and very nearly to Brian too. Another few metres and he would have had it, the line came just soon enough.

Hi guys, that back-marker would be me. Apologies to all involved - I had a clean race except for this incident. Lap times weren't great but was my first r2p event so was just hoping to learn from the experience.

Not entirely sure what happened, but I got clipped from behind just after the final chicane. I tried to keep a clean line on the exit, but the car behind me was really close and I probably moved off line a small fraction.

Anyway, this clip from behind swung me violently across the track into a concrete wall and then bouncing back across the track once more.

Again, sorry to those who got caught up in the incident. Hopefully we can all learn from it!

Enjoyed that race. Only tried practicing for this race today and having never really tried G3's (1st race in this series) before i thought i would have a go with the BMW, got my times down to low 1.56's and thought i was doing ok then ppl started joining the server doing 1.54s and lower in vipers. With so many vipers joining i thought if ya cant beat 'em join 'em....

Lost connection on my 1st flying lap in quali, managed to get back in and do 1 fast lap which netted me 5th.

Had a rubbish start losing at least 2 places one being a BMW which i managed to get past by the end of the lap (pass was purely down to power of viper against BMW!) then caught john passmore and had a great few laps passing each other a few times when i came up to parabolica and missed my braking point and only just kept on track and john followed me but caught the grass which gave me a few seconds break. Caught Darren a few secs a lap, and got along side him on the final straight, i was just watching for my position to change on hud as the line approached, thought i had enough momentum to make it but Darren held on, good job mate i new you have some kind of problem but after we crossed the line i could see your splitter was completely missing. Finished 5th. Fairplay to all the non viper drivers
