USA F3k: Monza

good race, had way too much wing and splitter though. maintained midpack position for race. had a couple close calls coming out of turn 6 with my rears losing grip, but was able to save it both times. for the most part just cruised by myself, and did a little drafting with my teammate

Couldn't get the car restarted in the pit, pressing all the regular letter keys and apparently the P key dumped me out. :( Seems like I saw several 3-wheelers out there as well, going quite well in fact.

Exciting race, lots of battles and small mistakes by myself luckily only getting dirty but not damaged.

Chased Chip for a long time, finally gettting past. We were close in speed but had different gearing so he would pull away out of a corner, I would catch up in gears 3-5 then we would have the same top speed so we were always close.

Had to pass Larry a few times as well which took a few attempts each time.

Late in the race I got to chase, pass then be passed by my teammate Dennis. I really wanted to go for the final lap pass but made a few small mistakes!

Was up to 7th after Q11.
Had serious pressure early from Ansoon, then Carty (I think), and 3 others. We were nose to tail thru the 2nd Lesmo,I make a mistake and shit flys, sorry all. Real sorry to Scott B. you ended up getting the worst of it. I was lloking forward to a battle because my pace was finally up to yours.
I had Hedrick ahead and Ansoon behind and I hit the pits.
In the second stint Me, Ansoon, and Hedrick were within striking distance of each other. Hedrick inched away and it was Me and Ansoon wheel to wheel through the Parabolica and nose to tail the rest of the way.
Great time, very clean, especially through turn 1 on the start. Everyone tip toed thru there from where I was at.
Good drive Tristan (again), and podium!

Could not make it in time for this race! Sorry i missed it :(. Even more sorry that parsons got 2nd! curses!

Ran out of fuel thanks to Race 07's absolutely shit pit system.

If you don't add the perfect amount of fuel in the beginning of the race, you're screwed. There's no way to put in more because the pit stops are completely automated with no pitboard to make adjustments.

Most of you probably know that already, though. :)

Disappointing but still a fun event.

I made too many mistake in Qual and never found my 37. I definitely did NOT have a low 37 like Tristan (please tell me that was with a draft by) - offline was high 37's. I found a setup change that gave the car more bite out of the corners.

Anyway, thought I had everything sorted for front row start, but I didn't get a very good start. Steve got buy on the outside so I just had to hold onto the inside. Tristan braked a little earlier than I expect into T1 so made an adjustment but got too much curb and on the throttle I looped it (fortunately out of harms way). All my fault, grrrr. So I waited and rejoined in dead last.

Had great fun working my way thru the field and had some very professional driving by everyone -- great stuff. Think I went into the pits 6th or 7th, got a good in and a good stop which cleared me into 4th. I had a lot of ground to make up on Steve and didn't think I could do it, but I gave it my best shot, we finished only a few hundreths apart.

Too bad a I screwed myself at the start, think I probably could have put chase to Tristan and kept him honest.

Congrats to podium, well deserved!

A great qual, a good start, and a fortunate crew of drivers behind me into T1 kept me out of trouble for this race. I'm sorry Rob for braking early to T1, I was already into 6th gear and really didn't want to overshoot it!

And yes, to answer your question, I had a draft in my qual lap. Coming out of Ascari, I was on track for a 37.7, 37.8 or so, but just barely managed to get into the wind of Steve Parsons, and caught him up by Parabolica. Stayed tucked behind him until the S/F, and voila... his assistance got me three or four extra tenths knocked off.

First off, mucho thanks to Rob for posting his setup. I hadn't done a lap before entering the race so I'd have been totally hopeless without it - just wouldn't have raced, actually. Only got in 2 laps before qualifying as it was, and while I could tell I needed to make some changes to the setup to suit my style it was obviously fast enough to do the job.

I ended up putting on a couple clicks more wing on front and one on the back just as a crutch, and ended up qualifying 3rd. Far better than expected; check's in the mail, Rob! ;-)

Slipped the clutch big time getting away in the race and got a bit of a run on Rob who was inside. We went into the chicane side by side, and I went so far out on the curb to make room that I got a cutting warning. But still, coming out I didn't see Rob and was worried that we might've made contact, even though I didn't feel anything. Considering that I was driving with his setup, that freaked me out for a few laps.

Steve got me refocused pretty quickly by getting on my rear and threatening to get by for a few laps - good drafting battle, aided by my haplessness in the 2nd chicane. Hate that darned thing! Finally got a little gap, and then he pitted quite early, so the pressure was off - as was Tristan, who was out of sight and headed off to lunch at Chez Alien'... ;-)

Got the fuel warning and came in from the lead as Tristan had pitted a lap earlier. Sat there watching as first Tristan went by (ok) and then Steve (not so ok!). I was wondering, how can I still suck at pitting with autopit on? Turned out my stop lap was in line with most others' but 14 seconds slower than Steve's! His stop lap was 10-20 seconds quicker than anyone else in the race. Obviously something I need to learn there; kudos to him for figuring it out.

Thought I'd try to get back to him, but my second stint was slower than the first as the tires were going, while his was quicker - probably due to not having my floundering car in front of him. That left me in 3rd with Rob coming up from behind. He was closing, but it looked like a safe gap until I made a few slips in the last couple of laps. At the end he was close enough going into Parabolica, so I tried to repay him for the set by pulling a Reubens and soft pedaling to the line, but I missed it! 3-4 should have been the other way 'round... ;-) Sorry man, and thanks again for making it possible for me to race.

Yeah it's ALL your fault Tristan ;) ha ha Good to know you got some help on that 37.3 - phew!

Steve B. -- glad the setup was some help and you could make it. I suggested a small change after Qual in Chat, not sure if you got it? I upped the lock to 40% (from my online setup) helped stabilize the rear under acceleration and braking. My setup did have some push, but it was easier for me to be consistant with it.
