GTC76 Hockenheim

well i dont know what happened here.. i was qualifying and the screen came up saying next session, then when i click the drive button to join the grid i was wast deep in a gravel trap with the graphics jumping up and down :-( escaped and tried again and again wast deep in a gravel trap. escaped again and the race had started. VERY VERY %%%% off as i spet ages today trying to ge a decent setup.. are well

A steady race for me. I qualified 5th, and was P4 at the end of the first lap.

For the next 20 laps, I was closely following Phil in his Porsche, but our pace was very similar, with Garry closing the gap behind.

Then with a handful of laps to go, Phil made a mistake just before the stadium section, and I was able to take P2.

Garry continued to close, and I was glad to see the finish line, any more laps, and he would have been right on my tail.

That was a blast guys! Thanks for the great run. A very different sense of respect out there with these cars and drivers it seems. I noticed the same thing running on an open server too. I rarely see any overly aggressive driving (with the exception of the last few laps :D) and that is rare and awesome. It's like everyone drives them like they own it and don't wanna bend them up. Hard to find replacement parts these days. Pretty damn cool!

I entered not knowing a thing about this sim at all. Tire wear, brake wear etc., but was aware of the 'rental' points thing. I had run the Open 170 in a G3 Porsche (also at Hock) and this provoked me into taking a Porsche for my maiden GTL voyage. I was very close to taking the 914-6 instead of the 911, and in hindsight, wish I would have. It only left me with 1 rental point for the season finally at Spa, and the 914 will be useless there. It also would have given Roberto someone to run with (the lone 914). I actually thought taking the lower HP 911 would be 1 point cheaper, giving me a little more to choose from next race, but I was wrong. Live and learn as they say.

I had a nasty, self inflicted spin about 3/4 distance and I really felt the change in handling after that for the remainder of the race. The rear just seemed to lose all grip. Is this normal? I was still able to drive it, but it was VERY different.

All in all, I had a blast and I'd like to thank you guys for that. Makes me look forward to something now. :D

Grats Enis on the win. You were untouchable no doubt.

Qualifying:
Qualifying was bad, spent most of it avoiding spinning guys and slower cars.

Race:
Race was good, although completely unexpected that I won it. As I planned to be out of the city for the weekend I had zero practice, only practiced few before the race.

After I took the lead at the end of lap 1 I never looked back and opened up huge gap by the end of the race.

Clinched the title, was easier with Scott missing 2 races at the beginning of the season and with Gapser suffering a disco around Dijon.
