Trois-Rivieres Challenge

Before you post, calm your nerves and remember that this was a street course with 32 cars on it.

Grats to all finishers, I know this was a tough one to deal with for some.

Fun race. I never bother practicing in these cars, they are pretty forgiving and I have enough experience in them... so qual was a little slow, but I didn't get many clean laps so it would have been difficult anyway. I was on course for a 1:08.9 but I went off in the fast left 3 from the end... which was actually a good thing because it taught me to be more cautious through there in the race. It did mean Tom beat me by 2 places though, so I started 2nd in ZR.
Got a nice start but there wasn't much room down at T1, so I gave Tom a little space, which allowed Miller inbetween us. I tried to pass him in T2 but he squeezed me to the wall on the inside so again I just let him go. Me and him caught Tom pretty quick and Mike got through, and me and Tom had a nice battle for about 8 laps. I eventually got passed when he made a mistake at the end of the backstraight and I imediatley pulled away. I got out a nice gap and put it in cruise control mode. Had a couple of funny moments with backmarkers but thats to be expected around here. At one point someone totally lost it on the brakes up ahead and the track was shrouded in smoke, as I came out I saw him sitting broadside across the road with Pat in his side, and I just clipped him on the fron as I tried to avoid. Only got minor damage but it was a scary moment!!!

Anyway, glad to pick up another win in these fun litte cars, and glad to see some really nice tracks coming up. Maybe I can finish out the season :-)

My apologies to James Watson for punting you...and to guys behind who got involved in this as well...I thought I grew out of this but I guess I still need to learn...

The race itself: quite boring for me - most of it I was slowing down to let faster guys go by...had one or two minor incidents but all in all I think I did a good job and haven't slowed down anyone too much.

I was a bit upset with my result during and after the race, but after watching the replay, I now realize I made a small mistake which curbed a potential great result. I was running 2nd in class to Pat (less than 1 car length) when I brushed the wall and checked up just a bit early in the brake zone at the end of the long back stretch. Sam was running through the field something fierce and certainly wasn't expecting me to brake early. No hard feelings Sam.

While watching the replay, I decided to watch Tom and Scott till my incident on lap 11. Man can these guys drive! And they have tremendous respect for one another to boot. Nice show guys.

Bah,,... i dont undestand why we can get so many ppl to race cars like this, while there are great mods around, that feel like REAL cars...

I installed this track just before qual, its short one so i could learn in in few laps,... Qual was OK,... Then overtook Tolga on lap1, but braked a little too late into that lefthander after long straight and hit someone (Simon i think). Didnt do too much harm to him, nor me, but i decided to do a drivethrough anyways... Lost a lot, and had good battle coming back, most fun with Simon again, nearly got him in same turn again with the stupid locked brakes of this hovercraft... But avoided him, and lost 15sec going back to the track.

Grats podiums...

I came late so I didn't trained much. I was in the server when the qualy was 3 min left, so I did only 2 laps, but I finished 4th.

In the start I was able to pass Iván Pons, but I was not concentrated so I had some mistakes, and I had to use reverse two times. I had too some small problems with lapped cars, but it wasn't important.

I had to apologize Tsarev, I hit you in the exit of the third corner, but I wasn't able to avoid you, I think you lost your rear wing, I'm sorry.

Grats to all winners. Can't wait for Vanport race :P

No problem Tomasz, to be honest, I didn't even know it happened. After smacking the same wall for the third time, I thought I had knocked my wing off on the first one, and finally realized I needed to pit. After that I just went into finish-the-race mode :) I hope I didn't get in the way too much.

Uneventfull for me luckily. Had to avoid some crashers but they stayed still so it was no problem, thanks guys. Picked up 2 spots when faster drivers crashed so I came up with a podium!!
I agree Janko about the ZR feeling like a hovercraft, the GP1 is fun and this Hamer is...different but not as funky as the ZR. Too bad we can't filll up the RACE07 or GTR2 grids regularly :(

well, i'm glad that one is over with.

I was tinkering with my graphics settings the other day, trying to get some of the moire out of Vanport so i could see a bit further down the track for my brake points.

i've been on the servers since then without problem, but i was all alone. practice this morning was fine. but as i came around the last corner to take position on the grid, i knew i was in trouble. not sure what my frame rates were, for sure, but they were definitely not driveable.

hope i didn't cause anyone else too much trouble.

Firstly i'd like to say sorry to Raul Pons and Mike Miller, felt like a right muppet locking the brakes up into the back of you.

This track, i guess was always gonna be a mare, one mistake and you've pretty much had it, after my 2 mistakes i felt it would be best to quit and move on to the next event. At first i was abit annoyed at getting hit up the back end but looking back i can see why. This track was going to be tough for all, and well done to those that made it through.

I'm quite looking forward to the next event, the track is quite forgiving it seems (apart from the concrete wall on last corner to protect the drag strip).
