GTx: Anderstorp

Hope I didn't get in anybody's way. I was driving the yellow 550 and was way off the pace. I tried to get out of the way of any approching cars. This is my first year and feel it's safe to say that I'll never be in the top 5 in points, so, I'll always be in the yellow 550. If you see me in front of you when lapping the back-markers, I'll pull over and let you by. I just need more experience and learn set up. Hopefully I'll be more respectable in the future. By the way, what kind of start was that? Congrats to Ari.

One to forget for me. Hadnt driven the lambo here. I put my spa setup on with a few tweaks just before qualy and it felt ok.

The race was poor for me. My fronts were gone after a few laps and I was really struggling in both stints, with no front grip at all. Spent most of the race just in front of Darren and Pete, and then just behind them after the stops. Towards the end of the race I realise I was going to fall short of fuel by about 6 litres. Damn, had to make a quick stop that turned 5th into 8th.

Congrats to Ari, very impressive speed.

I was pleased to get 3rd in quali and I knew the only way to stay with Milan or Ari was to be in front of them, and that must have been in my head approaching T2. I got in front of Milan but I was outside him and tried to leave my braking as late as possible, obviously it was too late and I went wide onto the grass, I was careful rejoining but it was difficult because cars were still appearing from nowhere. I think I emerged in 16th and started the fight back straight away. Had a very busy first stint and swapped paint with Claudiu at one point, I think it ended up 1-1 between us though. Then I followed Pete until I got a run on him and stayed just ahead until the stops. It was very close again when I came out but I just stayed in front and the car was better in the 2nd stint so I was able to get away a bit. I ended up back in 3rd which was likely the best I could have got anyway, doubt I could have held off Milan for long if I had passed him at the start, but it would have been nice to find out rather than chuck it away all on my own.

The first half of the first stint was hard work. I was caught up in traffic and was lapping way off my normal lap times, but I just couldn't get by the cars infront. In fact I actually lost 2 spots trying to find a way past :(.

Eventually I managed to break free and I was back in to my normal times. Was only maybe 10 mins of that stint left, but I managed to close on the guys who were infront pretty quickly. And it was looking like I was going to have a nice battle with my teamie George P.

Pitstops came and went, and mine cost me about 10 seconds. Was close to George when he made his stop, but after mine I was 10 seconds back. The car felt great though and I was managing some fast laps so I was able to close the gap to George who was now having a nice race with Donato.

Managed to get by Donato when he ran a little wide, so now I was right behind my teamie with just under 10 mins to go. I was maybe just over 1.5 secs behind GP, and entering the back straight there was a lapped Ferrari between us. I tooked in behind the Ferrari to get a bit of a tow down the straight, then BAM!!. Out of nowhere came a stationary Lambo on the racing line. Luckily for the Ferrari he seemed to drive straight through it, unluckily for me I had no time to react and I didn't go straight through it :( . The next thing I know I'm seeing sky, then tarmac, sky then grass. Eventually came down on the roof, engine still running but I was going nowhere with the wheels pointing towards the sky :(. And to make it worse the Lambo turned out to be George's due to his screen freezing for a couple of seconds :(.

Absolutely gutted for 5 mins after it happened, car felt great and I had the speed to make the run up to the flag an interesting one. Wasn't challenging anywhere near the front places but it would have been a great scrap to the line.

5 mins later though and the adrenaline had gone I calmed down and just accepted it as one of those things that happens in online racing. Nothing could have been done to avoid it and I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, At least I learned never to run on the same line as George again :p.

That was a lot of very close racing tonight. Heading for T2 of lap 1 we were running with 3 cars side-by-side. That made me go wide and losing about 5 spots. But it put me first rank to watch the mayhem before T3. Cars were flying all over the place and I actually drove underneath them without getting a cratch on my paint. That did happen later on when I was in a great fight with 7-8 cars. I managed to get into 8th before my stop. The 2nd stint was all about a fight with Donato while Kieron was closing in. In the meantime the gap to John and Pete got smaller but I had to focus on what happend behind me. On the airstrip I used "look back" like I do many times to see what danger is behind me but this time it resulted in a freezeframe of about 6 seconds. When everything turned to normal I saw Kieron dropping back in the ranking and knew he got into trouble with that lag. So sorry that happend Kieron. But like you said ... it's just one of those things in simracing. That lag also meant Donato had passed me but with two laps to go he made a mistake at Hansen which gave me 5th in the end. Grats to the guys who made it to the podium. And lets hope we get the same turnout at Magny Cours.

I had problems setting up a car for this race, was torn between the saleen and lambo, but picked the saleen just because I dont want to drive anything else..

Quali was bad, couldnt find the pace i had in free prac.

The race started well, got up to 7th i think in the t2 mess.
Had a great few laps now stuck behind Borut and John D. Swapped places with John once and was trying to get passed borut. john got back passed me, and then had 6 more cars in a nice tail back fighting each other. think this tailback lasted 14 laps, was excellent. Though I had to get paased borut has he was looking dodgy, and finally did with a brilliant pass.

I broke free of the crowd, and eventually started making mistakes due to tyre problems and brakes that seemed not to be cooling down quick enough.

so now i was trying to protect 9th at stops and johan seemed to be my only threat. Johan got passed me after stops when i made a mistake on outlap. then was just trying not to let Dennis or Rob catch up. Rob started gaining about a second a lap until it was 2 laps from the end and Milan lapping me helped me make a mistake that let Rob go through with a brave outside move on second last bank corner.. nicely done!

Tough race!

Didn't have time to come up with a setup so I used Tim's on this one and it was very driver friendly. Thanks for posting Tim.

I was pretty happy with getting the 8th spot in Qual considering traffic. I felt like I had a pretty good race car -- didn't have much of a pit strategy, so I sorta just filled her up and slapped on med/med.

Got an Ok start and kept it clean in T1, I knew T2 would require some earlier than normal braking as the brakes and tires weren't up to temp, got thru T2 clean but there was Kaos ahead that collected a bunch of drivers ... thought I had worked my way thru it only to get hit from the side and pushed off into the wall.

Surprisingly my car was not damaged too much, but by the time I could rejoin the track, I was down in 22nd spot! Ugh! But I didn't give up, there was 74 minutes to go and I was just gonna plug along and try to make up positions in the hope of a Top 15 finish.

I had a ton of fuel onboard so it was difficult to really push hard and keep the tires in good shape. I just kept going and going and going and going...next thing I know I'm in 2nd place -- it was an artifical 2nd place as I had to make a pit stop. But I pushed hard to get some flying laps in, entered the pits right as I got the "tire warning", came out in 13th spot and started to crank up the pace with only 25 mins left. There were a couple of gift spots and managed to work my way into 10th.

I was catching Heinz for 9th, but time was running out. It would have been a close finish, but I think he could have held me off -- then I saw him out in the weeds coming back on track and I knew the Lambo had some good front end grip and made the outside pass using as much momentum as I could hoping the dirt on his tires would slow him down. It did! :)

All in all, I'm glad I stuck it out, it was a lot of fun coming from 22nd to 9th and I got into some good battles along the way. What I thought was going to be 74 minutes of catchup hell, turned out to be very fun!

I could not catch Ari but I enjoy the driving on this bobsleigh-like track.
At the start Ari convert pole to lead and I suffer some outside attack from Darren, he was late on the brake and miss the apex of corner that give me comfort 2nd.place.
First stint was a close with Ari but after 10-15 laps the gap starting to increase due tyre wear and some lapped guys who did not want to see somebody is behind him for half a lap.
My mistake was a long first stint that give Ari a dozen of fast laps before my stop. After pits I was 29 sec. behind him and just realised that I need to finish where I am.
This Lambo is a really nice car, and hungry also -:)

Congrats to Ari, great laps. And Darren too, good fight back to 3rd.

Nice lap in qual, I wasn't quite expecting a pole but I'll take it.

My start wasn't the best but the inside line helped me stay in the lead. I noticed Darren going off in T2 but I had no idea about the big carnage behind. Milan stayed with me for a long time until approaching the stops when he lost some seconds. After the stops my gap to Milan was around 30 seconds and everything went great until the finish... well apart from my teammate almost impaling me under braking but I took it carefully and avoided any trouble :)

Nice job by Pete with the Vette, it will probably be my choice too for the next race. Due to partnering Pete in S6 GT-I I now have a lot more setup knowledge, it really helped me to maintain good pace throughout the race.

One more thing: it was great to race with such a big field. There was no multitude of red 550s and in general there was a decent variety of (faster) cars, maybe apart from lots of Lambos. Hopefully things will stay as good in the future.
