Euro FT-A: Putnam

Great race folks! I had some really good battles that lasted for alot longer than 1 or 2 corners. Most of them lasted 4 or 5 laps! Can't wait until Toban. Wish we could add a bit of grip to these things. Imagine how good the racing would be if they didn't push so horribly!

What can I say? Qualifying was a disaster. For some reason I just couldn't get a fast lap. I was off the pace even though everything seemed to be working fine. Still, I managed to get second on the grid, but I was very ... "agitated" when the formation lap started. It took me most of the lap to cool down so I could concentrate on a quick getaway when the lights would go out.

As the lights went out, I rocketed off the line into first place, and never looked back. I didn't push myself. I just tried to bring it home without risking to go off. Still, about seven of the race laps were faster or similar to my poor qualifying performance, so I was getting pissed off some more.

I stopped thinking, slowed down a bit and brought it home. I expected to do better than this. Still, I shouldn't be complaining as I won the race, in a better time than the main FT event, so that makes me happy. Shame I couldn't repeat the low 1:10 lap I had done in offline practice.

This was my first race at R2P, it was so fun. I did a good qual and a good start, so I was in the second position very fast, but Alex García overtook me in the third lap I think and I was third from that moment to the finish.

I was not fast but I was regular so I finished third without problems. Congratulations to Luc Van Camp, he was very fast.

Yeah that was a fun race. It was a bit of a pity that there was quite a bit of lag and the game had to synchronise a couple of times a lap, but the FT cars on this track is a great fit. After a totally disastrous first couple of laps where I ran wide everywhere and was generally cautious, I managed to lap consistently and by the end I picked up a few more places. The guys in my mirrors were lurking!

Hey, Sean, how do you get the non-standard liveries to show up? I've downloaded some skins into the SKINS folder, but do I have to replace the original skins?

At the start Lokman was away slow. I choose the outside line but that was the wrong choice as there was no room and so got locked in a bit. Didn't matter as I was slow anyway.

There's a lot of offs and someone doing a drive through on lap 1 and so I'm promoted to 9th. On lap 4 or 5, there's two guys having a moment out of the hairpin and I sweep inbetween and passed the both of them to 7th.

Then Sean makes his appearance. For several laps we run almost side by side. Sean is faster is in the turns but I have more speed on the straight so he can't make a move. Sean is running 10-10 df and I'm on a 9-7. Mine actually is the wrong choice, I think. I don't think the speedgain on the straight compensates for the loss of speed in all those midfast sweeps.

I go to wide in the right before the hairpin and that's all Sean needs. I'm back in 9th where I finisch.

In the last laps, my tires started heating up seriously. Did a final all or nothing lap in vain attempt to catch up with Sean and that left my front left at 121 coming out of the last double right. I'll have to work on my setup for Toban.

Anyway, great clean racing with you guys. Looking forward to Toban.

BTW Sean, where can I get the skin you use. I'll drop it in my skins so I can see it during coming races.

We will get the GMT skins to Tim tomorrow. We didn't get them done in time to get them to everyone for this race. You will just be able to put the new dds files into the skins folder just like all the other skins you have Lokman.
