USA FT-A: Trois-Rivieres

Had a bad Qual session. Running my best lap ever i believe, to have it ruined by me getting greedy. Had a decent start. Started the race pretty much the way it almost ended. Side by side with slight touch with Kevin. Then he just took off after about 5 laps. Saw my teammate Mike run long on a turn. I know if that didn't happen Kevin and I probably wouldn't be able to catch him. He was mighty quick. Dennis applied constant pressure for a good while. But saw he fell off after awhile. Which was a relief because he was all over my mirrors. Then buckled in and got in a groove. Kevin hit lapped traffic which allowed me to close in. Then it was just a race to the finish. Must say he ran a great race with no errors. Made it hard to get in there to win. Tried my ass off at the end but he was solid. Glad to have second though. Great job Steve for the podium. You almost got me in the end.

Didn't expect to be in the top three on this track. I had nothing but bad luck here. The start of the race started good although I think my gearing could have been a little better. I thought I would loose 2nd to Scott but I held the line and kept it. Down the straight we went Scott and I when Mike hands me a gift be overshooting Turn 4. Then I settled into the groove and started pulling away from Scott.

After catching lapped traffic I made a cautious pass which allowed Scott to catch me, then it was a race to the finish. I thought Scott had on the last turn to the finish line but his car spun out as we touched. I don't feel like I won this race. Mainly capitalized on other people's mistakes. Anyway, Great race Scott and to all the back markers that allowed the faster guys to pass Thank You

Wow, great pace up front.
Wanted to Q in the top 5 and ended up there.
At the green I was right into 4th, look like SW who Q'd 4th
went backwards. Sat behind Sott while Mike just checked
out. About3rd lap, saw him turning around at the
hairpin runoff. Shame, he dominated all the sessions.
I just sat behind Scott for about 12 laps in 3rd, it was
sweet! Great pace Scott. I saw Kevin ahead but had to
concentrate on Scott, which I did, but a bit to much
It got to the point where I was diving HIS lines,
not mine, and I spun. SW took over 3rd and I was chasing
him. I sat behind 1/2 car wide down the strait, then under
hard braking mr car pulled left hard, I guess from being
off line. (I actually practiced hard braking off line
there, for something like this) but i had to let Steve
have it, he had the line. Pushed too hard after that and
spun, taking off my front wing. Limped home again in 4th.
I had a great time, just pushed a bit to hard at the end.
Great drive podium! Maybe next race.

My first podium (other than the CA RPM meet) at R2P! A total different feeling than my usual race where I'm always watching my rear view mirror for aliens. Dennis must have had a very high 1st gear, so he shot right out in front of me at the start along with William Gorder..putting me back to 6th with Maciej Bekas and Gregg Mulgrew close behind me. I use a low 1st gear to use in the sharp corners, so I had to let them get in front of me.

William fell in behind Ralph Browning as he was coming out of the pits in turn 2 and I found a path around the outside of both of them. Unfortunately, none of the cars in front of us; Kevin, Scott, and Dennis had to deal with Ralph so they pulled out a good lead but still within sight. I could see Dennis and Scott staying close to each other...I was hoping they battled it out, but they stayed cool. Then on lap 10 Dennis missed his brake mark in the next to last corner and spun...giving me 3rd.

Then I don't know what happend, but from the replay it looks like Dennis downshifted into 2nd after the back straight and had to come to a stop against the inside wall, then in the 2nd to last corner he somehow found 1st gear...which for him was way too high and he spun again. So, with Dennis off his butt Scott pulled up with Kevin. Then in the next to last corner of the last lap Scott makes his move to the inside, but Kevin wasn't having any of it and Scott wound up trying to sqeeze betwen Kevin and the wall. Kevin managed to hold it together, and Scott got moving before I was able to take advantage.

No excuses just Brain Fade 1A. The first time I missed the start of the recon lap and then I went charging off in third or something passed the red light and went "huh oh" about the time the message flashed that I was DQed. I need a Homer pic w/ Doh! as my avatar now.

Watching the corner flags really paid off for me here. I didn't get much practice in and Q'd down in 11th, got a decent start and don't think I lost any positions. Had good luck getting through the occasional cloud of smoke and random car parts. More than once I slowed for the yellow corner flag and avoided spun cars in blind corners- one of them collected Bekas right behind me, who I believe was moving back up after a spin. Picked up a couple of spots including a pass on Bryce when I was able to go low under a spun car and everybody else went high. Had a long battle with Gregg near the end, who was patient and finally got a good run on me exiting the archway. I moved to the center of the track, leaving him on the outside for the left-hander at the end of the straight, but I wasn't quite sure how much of a head of steam he had at that point, so I lifted and let him around safely, I figured he earned it. It's a fun track, dangerous as it is. I'd forgotten what a nice job was done on the main straight, looks cool with the trees lining both sides.

Wow, that was disappointing for me.. maybe one of the most disappointing races ive had. i didnt qualify well, but thats not new. On the first lap i was able to avoid the trouble.. and found myself in 8, which then became 9th.. but i was able to build up a good gap back to the next guys.
The car was feeling good, it was turning well, and felt solid and i felt like maybe all the practice i put in might pay off..
Then on lap 8 another car was coming out of the pits, no fault at all of his, he gave me plenty of room through turn one, but it threw my concentration just a little bit, then i freaked a little thinking he was going to be right down my throat, and that threw mw a little more.. and i missed my brake point, then the turn in and took two wheels off against the wall.. at least it was fairly spectacular.. it took me a second to realize how dead in the water i was, i almost hoped to make it back to the pits.. LOL that was a dream.. i had to park it behind the archway. Really left me wanting a do over! id like to see us run more races at the same tracks, its nice to be at a track that your at least familiar with at the start.. it gives me a bit of hope.
