TPSCC fun-run

A bit disappointed, had the speed to be top 3, but just was in the wrong place at the wrong time on 2 separate occasions.

My first Stock Car race, and I was quite happy with the end result. Managed to miss the first few spins that kept the race under yellows for the first few laps, found myself in 2nd at the restart. Maybe a lap into the restart I lost control and cause a mini big one, erm, I am rather sorry about that, I will have to check the replay when its up, I hope its not as bad as it looked.

I pitted then and ran a steady pace until my final pit stop, there was another full course yellow that fell at the right time for me so that put me back out in about 5th I think, drifted back a little at the restart and ran a not so bad pace from there in. Was chasing for 5th on the last few laps, got pretty close but put myself in the wall on the final corner but I was to far back anyway (still about a second I think).

So smoked my way across the line.

I will for sure be back for more, it really was exciting stuff.

well first stock car race, and i put in alot of practice but was finding myself running high 53's in race trim. then moments before qualify i tried a setup i saw posted and ran in low 52's so i was like ya. one problem the setup was VERY loose compared to what i had been practicing. i know better then to switch setups at the last minuet but for some reason i did. and well running 8 laps down on a 50 lap race you can see the results. i am very sorry for whoever i bumped on turn 1 of lap 1 i didn't think traffic was going to go so slow through the turn and i just couldn't slow down enough. well in the end when i wasn't spinning i was running lap times so slow to keep the can under control i should have kept my first setup. just another reason u dont do the last minuet switch, im thinking i would have had a top 5 finish if i wouldn't have done that.

Well, this was a learning experience for sure.

I qualified 4th after choking in the qual but it turned out not to matter in the end because of rFactors ability to cock up a rolling start. I think I wound up going green in about 7th or 8th

Story of my race was that I went into it unsure of how my strategy would pan out. Or more accurately, how to deal with cautions. There were a few early on, so I figured that when half the field went in early for tyres I would try and play the one stop game and leap frog a few cars. Turns out that the cautions weren't kind and that I would be stopping under green flag conditions. A bad situation was worsened when like an idiot I over-did pit entry and slammed into the wall after hitting the brakes way too hard.

I had spent a short period in the lead before that, including I think 2 caution periods. I should have stopped during the second with the value of hindsight.

I must apologise to Pete Bunce who when trying to slip past me going into 3 mid race fell foul to one of my (few) clippings of the wall when I bounced back into him. Many apologies. I saw the big wreck that happened around the same time in my rear-view mirror which was pretty cool :)

I ended the race trundling around 2 laps down in 8th. In a perverse way, I completed my objective; finish in the top 8.

Hopefully the US event will prove more fruitful.

My first race in these barges too having only downloaded the mod last weekend. Just got it up & running when Tim posts a new rfm file. Then I realise I have the old track version. Hmmm, am I nuts to do this?
I just aimed to stay out of trouble, but somehow it kept finding me. Had to drag the car back to the pits on 3 wheels a couple of times, got tapped into a spin where no caution came out, yet despite all that I managed to stay on the lead lap. 4th was a decent result, with all the damage I didn't have the speed to challenge at the end and my setup was a tad too conservative given the number of yellows. Really enjoyed the race and look forward to the full series.
