FBMW: Bathurst

With all my exams this week I never got time to practice here, hence I was a total wreck in qual. Got a great start and made 6-8 places before T1, but then got wiped out by a warping car going straight through me, so I was back to last and about 10 seconds off the back of the field. I slowly worked my way through and found my feet, ending up setting a time only 0.3 off the fastest lap which I thought wasn't bad considering my lack of preparation, although I still had several spins which in the end probably cost me close to a minute and any chance of a podium.

Grats to Jack for the win, and to the suprisingly many finishers, this really was a tough one but it was great fun :-)

And my PC problems appear to be fixed!!! :D

Guess which series organising numpty miscalculated their fuel stop? Honestly!

I was running third and looking pretty set, but after coming out of the mid race fuel stop, thought it suddenly looked a bit tight, having given some leeway but not enough. Had to splash and go with a couple left, but compounded the mistake by not removing the fix damage, which meant 4th 5th 6th went past as well.

However think the event went really well, had some good battles mainly with team mates Dave and John, but kicking myself now.

Congrats to the podium.

I had a bad qualy starting 20th, but in a few laps I found myself 8th and I began to think that, if I kept that pace and made no mistakes, I could finish among top 12.

It was a lot of fun trying to keep behind people like Simon, David and so. I knew that situation wouldn't last long, and when I tried to push... I crashed and my steering was badly hurt.

I made an early pit to get it fixed and, when I was on track again... yes, another crash and I lost my spoiler (cold tires?), so I had to make a looooong pit and was back to 18th position.

Then I decided to at least finish the race, and finally found a 17th position that is good enough for this race.

Great race folks. I haven't run any races in well over 6 months and to come back to that was absolutely a blast.

I did my best to give the front runners plenty of room when they were cough lapping me cough.(It really hurts to say that!) Hope I left plenty of room for all and other than 2 or 3 brain farts, I had a fairly decent race. One of those farts was a spin in the final turn well into the race right in front of my team mate! I really thought I had taken both of us out, oops :).

See ya'll next week. Haven't driven these since we originally made the mod. This reminded me how much fun they are! Thanks for that.

Sorry for not unregistering from the race, couldn't get home before it started.

Same here, I really thought I'd make it back in time, but I was 30 minutes late. Real shame as I was looking forward to this and might have been pretty competitive.

Congrats Jack on a great win.

I got shuffled back at the start thanks to poor getaway, but managed to work my way back up the field, with some good battles along the way.

Car was a nice shade of yellow in the status screen but it kept on going and I managed to stay out of any real trouble.

Tough race around here in the FBMW's but very enjoyable.

This track would be fun if it wasn't for the extra long straights. I wanted to practice the windy downhill section more, but it took just too long to make my way around. Not having TC or ABS didn't effect the car as much as it does to the F1-2005 mod cars, so I was able to keep the car moving smoothly. But, in traffic I just didn't have a consistent line through the windy downhill section...my appologies for those whose race I interrupted.

My first event here at race2play & it couldn't have gone better considering the talent lined up on the grid.Was a bit tense initially as 6 minutes before qualifying my Dell from hell freezes up & craps out on me.I was able to get back in just as Q was starting & then qualified with the wrong gear ratios--DOH,anyhow started from 7th & got up to 4th on 1st lap,then LUCKILY made it to 2nd where I stayed till the end.I must say that the racing is extremely fair here & everyone seems to be incredibly respectful-cya all at the next race.
