FBMW: Sebring

Well that didn't go as I expected. From the pre race posts it was looking like there was going to be a really close group battling it out for the lead, but it didn't work out that way.
Set a PB in qual and got pole on my last lap, which was a suprise because I didn't think I was capable of low 1:07s. Got a great start but as I tried to settle in Jack quickly caught me. He made a few moves but I took him back each time, then on lap 5 Tito decided he'd had enough of it and punted me straight into next week. As I got back on the track in around 5th, I found Tom O'Gorman parked infront of me at the next turn and went for another loop. That dropped me back to 7th. I picked off a few cars and was gaining on John Bayes when suddenly all hell broke loose. I arrived at turn 2 to find cars all over the place and Tito reversing across the track. Lucky for me, David Bullet knocked the path clear and I got through unharmed, and managed to get up to 3rd. Then David kindly knocked John Bayes out of the way and I was in 2nd! Pretty much just kept Jack (who I beleive was damaged) at arms length to the finish and accepted 2nd as the best I could do out of that mess.

I didn't a good qual but I did it better than I expected, I started 8th, but in the first lap I had some mistakes, I brake later in the turn one, and I brake late too in the next braking, I was lucky because I didn't hit anyone :P

I could get some positions because of the accidents, so I finished 5th. It was great, it's my second race with this mod and I'm enjoying it, and the more I run the more I'm confortable with the car :D

Ok following a few comments, in private as required rather than in the post race :-/ I have reviewed the driving of a number of competitors tonight and will be in touch with them.

I know there are no live admins as such, but some basic rules were broken tonight and as friendly as I want to keep this, I will not let people take advantage of the situation.

I do not want to spend the rest of my night reviewing races but please people know the rules and act accordingly.

The number of pictures of cars in less than ideal situations tells it's own story!!!!

Anyone who I have spoken to please take it on the chin and be back next week, but in the interests of all we need to make sure that the rules are followed and the races are enjoyed by all.

Yes there will be racing incidents but rules is rules.

Psh what a race...or lack there of...

It was looking really promising, after a 9th place start I was up to 5th, chasing the top 4 when I saw Scott spin. I took over 4th and caught right up to the slowed group of 3 at the front. Not 2 corners after I gained 4th, I spun right in the middle of the track and got collected by Steve Davis (sorry to everyone hurt by that, my mistake totally :-() I had to pit, 99 second stop, by that time there was no point in really trying to do anything, but I refuse to DNF so I kept going. The car was crap even after the stop, so I went into the wall at least 2 more times and through the pits for another 65 seconds. Wound up in 21st because of DNFs and what not, but whatever. Not a happy return to R2P after being gone for a while.

That was a cracking race, sometimes litteraly.
Also had a good start but was sandwiched and had to back off before T1. Was pretty hard overtaking here with all those fast corners, but I got into third when Scott was punted off. Then I was in battle with Tito and following Jack closely. Before I could try something on Jack, Tito overtook me and half a lap later took Jack out giving me 1st place.
At that time I was a bit faster than Jack, so it would have been awesome trying to overtake him, as that would have been very difficult.

Pretty surprised to get through T1 as clean as we did, thought there could be a real biggie there.

Seemed to lack pace personally but with a few incidents made it upto 6th (?) until I span needlessly and lost the front wing with a couple to go.

Watching the replay of the front guys is good fun in most parts, guessed this track would give some good battles and was right I think.

I was happy with my race, got a bent wing front a spinning car in T1 and just paced my self. Did enough to keep a healthy gap behind me. Finished Well considering i dropped down to 19th after the spinner in T1.

I thought that was going to be the best race of the season so far, and it wasn't too far off tbh.

Got a reasonable start,and with either Jeff or Tito running wide in 1 i was able to concentrate on getting after Scott and was on his tail after a couple of laps. I was a little bit quicker out of the final turn i think so i could get a bit of a tow and pass into T1, but Scott did the old switchback on me both times and i was thinking yep only 16 more laps to make it stick! But all the time we were battling Jeff and Tito were closing and as mentioned already Scott went for a ride and i inherited the lead.

then Jeff pulled up on me and looked a few times but i managed to stay ahead, but they got a good run on me but Tito clipped my rear wheel in T2 and i got rolled (good ride btw). got back on track with little damage right behind Scott again :) and although i was closing it would have been debatable if i could pass.

As luck would have it we came up to some backmarkers on Lap 17 and i was getting a good run going when Dave Bischoff i think went across the track up ahead which made Alex Fed in front of me hit the brakes and i went right into the back of him (sorry bud)which tore my nose off and finished my chance of getting Scott.

all in all happy with 3rd as it could have been far worse, but it was terrific fun battling with Scott and Jeff for so many laps - lots of room and respect shown so can't wait for next time really.

grats to Jeff on the win though, as even without the accidents he had great race pace.

Lately I get the feeling I could do much more in the race than I actually do, according to my training laptimes. In this track I managed to do a high 1:08 before qual. I've never been this close to the top drivers, but when it comes to "real" racing I seem to be a step back.

I dropped 4 places after the green lights and climbed them up again during the following laps due to mistakes of my colleague-racers. Then I had to fight my spot with Robert for a few laps. As he was braking much later than me he could easily approach me always at the end of any straight. He tried to take the inside of the turn in three times, two of which resulted in me contacting his left side. Sorry for that Robert. The other one he could pass me but I regained my position in the following turn.

In the end, I finished only 1 place in front of my qual spot. Hope to do better next time.

I'm very satisfied with 11th considering that I was practicing for long version :shame:
Had a good start and even gain few positions after that mess at T1. Later, lost most of it because I was very uncomfortable with this fast-built setup and a lot of fuel. There was some gravel excursions, avoiding spun cars and lot of hard racing in the middle pack.
I had 13 liters extra at the end of the race :shame again:
