Putnam Park: Main Event

I never had the pace to beat Tristan, but CTDing out of 2nd was still a kick in the teeth...

I guess I should just stop playing rFactor before it drives me nuts.

Great job guys in such adverse conditions. :)
Maybe for the next one we could do snow & ice, hehe.

Very tiring race, just keeping it on track was tough, never mind racing. ;)

Had my share of offs in this one. Had a great time though. Was able to keep pace with a few people as they past me until I went off track again....

Good race, congrats podium.

The first half was alot of fun me Dennis and Richard were swapping spots both from legit passes and going off for a small loss of time. The Dennis pulled away for good. The seocnd half I had trou bles, tough race I gotsloppy and lost time/spot back to 6th :( Fun race for a bit then it was tough just to stay on track once the tires were yellow! I hope I get a t-shirt!! LOL

Grats to Tristan on the win and everyone who survived :)

Not an easy race at all. Decided not to qualify and start near last, thinking that a lot of people would fly off the track in T1 and I would gain easy positions. Well that didn't happen and it ended up being a super clean lap. So I had to work on getting up to the top positions on my own. Around lap 5, there was a little scuffle in the final turn and I was able to grab a few positions, pushing me into the top 10. Little by little, I worked on the spots ahead of me while at the same time, saving gas since I was on a no-stop strategy. A little bit after half way or so, I made it to 3rd after Kieron pitted. I was a bit worried that he would catch me easily before the end of the race, but luckily, I had a 10 second buffer from him so it would have taken him a while to get to me. A few laps after that, Scott discoed and all of a sudden I found myself in 2nd. There was no way in catching Tristan since he practically lapped the field already so, I worked on my fuel mileage. Fortunately, I barely slipped by with two liters left and finished comfortably on the podium :)

Hellfire that was tough,

Getting 3rd on the grid was the best I suspected I could get, so I was pleased with that.

Decided to try and set off in 2nd to cut down the wheel spin a bit, but it didn't work and so Dennis got by me in T1. It seemed I was slightly faster at this point so I was able to repass him after some good side by side action.

By this time Tristan and Scott where miles up the road so I just tried to settle down and get me some space on the track and try to stay off the grass.

I decided in pracy to do a one stopper, but now after the race it's clear you can do it without stopping. Never even thought of trying that :0.

After the stop I came out in 4th due to Coner not stopping. I thought I was still going to be in with a shout of the podium but not like how it turned out.

I was watching the gap to Coner a lot as at some point I expected the gap to tumble as he made his stop, which of course never happened :). Then when I thought I'd lost out on 3rd a message came up saying Scott has parked his car, I couldn't believe it.

At this point the car was all over the shop, I was fighting it all the time, I looked to see who was behind me and how far back they where. It was Dennis M, and he was 9 or so seconds back with 10 mins to go. It was Deja Vu as it was Dennis who was chasing me and catching me in the closing laps of the earlier Fabcar race at Le Mans. And just like in that race, he was catching me now too.

The gap soon tumbled to 5 seconds, then it was down to three with a lap to go. Damn near through it off the track at T1 on the last lap as I locked a brake and struggled to slow down, as I was entering the corner I thought "ugh oh, were going off". Luckily I was just able to keep it off the grass to make it round pointing the right direction. I gingerly made it round the rest of the lap to take 3rd, and my god it was hard work :D. I'm pretty sure Dennis would have had me if their had been another lap.

Thanks to GMT and Race2Play for having this challenge, it was great fun. And my god it was a challenge too :D .

I owe this victory to Tommy Christian and his *beautiful* dry setup, which netted me the lap record in the qualifyer round, and also only needed very minor tweaks to work smooth, fast and consistently in the wet. I had zero ZR experience before this week, so I knew nothing of what got this car to work.

After a decent start which kept me ahead of Scott, all I did was put my nose to the grindstone and plug away a set of hot laps. And so I did, but it appeared Scott had his own troubles too. I think he pit as well? I'm not sure. Anyway, after his game crashed, I got a lap ahead of Conor in 2nd since I ran one single, long stint without refueling.

Just to reemphasize, this is a terribly fun track, and would be great with Fabcars, Champcars, trainers... a welcome addition!! Thanks for the track and thank you for this first series :-)

Man that was tough!!! LOL! Glad it's over. I had as much challenge as I could take in the final just trying to keep the car on the track. In the practice session before qualifying I ran a 1:23.7xx which I thought would get me a good spot for qualifying, but I was unable to duplicate it in the actual Qualifying session. So, I started 10th. I think I never ran any higher than that in the race, as I ws passed on the first lap by several cars; while I was just trying to not "skate" off the surface. The rest of the race was spent trying to minimize mistakes and just get a finish. I finished exactly where I started in 10th. The racing was very clean and competitive with less attrition than I expected in this one. Thanks for the fun guys and thanks to race2play and Putnam Park Mod team for putting together the event.

Congrats to the Podium!

Tim threw out the idea of a rain race a couple weeks ago while we were still finishing up the circuit and we just thought it was the perfect thing to do. It was done mainly to throw a bit of a curve and add that little bit extra to the rFactor experience. COngratulaions to everyone in the Final for hanging in there and dealing with the adverse conditions.

The podium and door prizes will be handed out after the completion of Putnam Series Two.
