Spec e30 fun-run

that was a very fun and challenging first event. i really did enjoy myself and i immediately see the quality here at r2p. i will say i did a poor job with my setup. i was sliding a lot and i couldn't match speeds with you all around the longer sweeping turns so i knew by lap 3 or so that i would fall behind. i am very new to understanding setups and will have to do some good reading before my next events. once again, thanks for a great first experience and i cant wait to race with you all again soon. :)

Well I lost connection and I was on grid for the start of the race, to bad as I qualified 2nd which I was very happy with considering I haven't played race that much oh well.

Good fun tough destructive race!! HAH!

Very happy with my Q; it was a suprise but I'm glad! Kind of slow start, will have to work on that, lost a spot. Then into the first left hairpin I got slammed :(

No problem TC it was only a funrun but I am interested if it was just a braking thing or if my line/behavior was strange and I "cutoff" a passing maneuver. I stayed on the inside lane the way up the hill to "block" you guys from trying an inside move but that's where I got hit from. I did hear screeching so I'll bet it was a braking problem. Again, no problem at all it was a blast coming up through the field, I am just interested to know. Fun racing with Bob and Bryce and the lapped cars were cool too.

I need to find a beter way to attatch my wheel after that one damn!! My wheel came off once and I got it crooked multiple times. This game has great sound, I can really control the car and manage tire wear by paying attention to the sliding. Too bad I can't make the spec e90 series this season but hopefully WTC will be possible!!

Did a loop with 9 laps left and lost my splitter, I was running 3rd but with no splitter I was losing over a second a lap. Luckly the first lap madness gave me a bit of a buffer and I tried to hold on as long as possible and was able to just keep 5th. Mark Carty was breathing down my neck and I was doing what I could to stay in front. I had one close call with a side to side but managed to straighten it out!.

Nice finishes Sheldon and Bryce. Sounds like a lot of fun! Way to show 'em!

It was a last minute decision to race here. Found some hidden time at home. TM informed me that there was room to run. I did about 5 laps before the qual session and 12 laps in qual so I could learn the track. I know thats bad, but it's a fun run.
I qual's 15th. Just what I expected. 1st couple corners of the race I was dodging looped cars left and right. I found my self in the top 10. With a few more spins by faster drivers and I made it all the way up to 5th with 6 laps left. For the last 3-4 laps, I made my BMW as wide as possible to hold off a hard charging Larry and came in 7th. Not bad for a last min entry. Looking forward to running these cars again.

Made my way up to 3rd from dead last before my PC locked up. What kills me is I was closing hard on the front 2 cars. Another couple of laps and they were mine. You bet I'm looking for better video drivers this morning, this locking up started occuring after I updated the drivers.

Ahh nuts, I guess it had to happen eventually. At least as much as I can remember, for the first time in 215 events I punted somebody into a wall on the first lap :(
I was in 4th and tapped the guy in 3rd, he almost held it together (I was praying) but then finally lost it.
I now know it was Ryan, I didn't at the time because I had to turn my nametags off, yet another thing Simbin broke that used to work fine in GTR2.
Probably just bad judgement on my part, sorry Ryan.

So I took my drive thru penalty, except that when I got to Pit-In the game took over my car for me, and my force feedback wheel twisted all the way to the right and hammered and vibrated off the right stop. It pitted for me, did something (fueled and whatever else I don't know what), drove me out, released control at pit-out, and prompt crashed me into the right pit wall because my wheel was forced all the way over to the stop.
Yet another thing Simbin broke that used to work fine in GTR2.

A shame, no wonder all the good guys left Simbin to form Blimey! The actual driving experience is fantastic, but everything around it has gone to shit. How you take a good game like GTR2, and instead of tweaking the weak points you completely break the UI and other fine working features, is a business plan that I'm curious about. Maybe they do things differently in Sweden ;-)

So be warned, don't know how we are going to handle drive-thru's. Or knowing who's in front or behind you. Or any basic data about what's going on mechanically with your car. Or do any intelligent pitting. Or even if this game will damage force-feedback wheels by burning out wheel motors against the wheel stops.

But if it's even possible to say after all that, it was still a fun, tight, crazy race. F3000's next at Pau?

Crazy race for sure, and i dunno about the F3000's here Tommy..hehe

Qualy went pretty well, then i got a break when Ryan disco'ed, now i had no car infront of me for the start.

I nailed the start and lead the whole race. On or around lap 4 i found myself behind Tommy. He had a good pace going and was picking off cars, so i followed his lead for almost 3/4 of the race. :-) After Tommy let me by, i just drover her home!
