1ST EVER LET BRYCE WIN Vintage GT

Well we all failed miserably- we didn't let Bryce win!

I was planning on dragging out a Grp 2 Abarth and saving my points, but I took a look at how many people were short on points and decided this was a golden opportunity to pick up some championship points- which was working out great for me until I lost connection about 9 laps in. I was feeling good, too, on Jason's bumper in 4th and saving up my rubber for a good battle as we got closer to the end.

My car was really loose on cold tires in lap one, and I drifted around a couple of corners without trying, the 2nd of which caused the stackup that got Ray punted. Sorry to whoever I was waving my tail at :)

A fifth in an Alfa is still good for me. Not quiet champagne mind you, but maybe some good micro brew. Battled Pete ( I think) in the opening laps and then then had some good battles with Sheldon - - who made fewer mistakes than me and ended up in fourth.

Nice to be back after my ISP problems and G25 driver problems. Grats to the podium - Mike is a welcome addition but obviously much too fast.

I really like these old, slow cars. They suit my driving style.

I got the call from Michael today to join the group, downloaded the mod and set off to practice this afternoon. I took to it like a fish to water considering my favorite sim among all those in play here is GTL. And, I drive the Cortina in GTL. I naturally started with that car and also dabbled with the Mann and Alfa GTA and Jr. The Alfa GTA is bloody fast, but I wanted to save some rental credits.

During practice, I found a setup for the Cortina to my liking and decided to run with it instead of the Alfa.

Quali:
I just bloody nailed one. 46's were just out of reach.

Race:
I got a good launch and simply minded my tires from there. Rick was very quick in the Mini. His car appeared to turn in well and was stable from what I saw of the replay. Just a hint of tail wag, but that is good in front drive. I had 1 small incident with Christian Bourque. I thought he saw me and was moving over, but he instead got the car sideways and was recovering it. The tap put me in the dirt, but I kept the motor running and was off.

I look forward to the next event. Next time, it will be a level playing field.

Great running with you bill for a few laps, man I would gain up on you through out the track and you would pull nearly a second on me from the last turn down the straight into turn one.I don't know how you had that thing geared but man that thing would pull!! Was that a Alfa jr?? or a GTA?? I pretty much decided to drive as clean as I could behind you and wait for a mistake. And after 5 or 6 laps running behind you I was able to sneak by on your off.

I had 3 offs one of which was a spin on that kink going up the hill on the back of the track it really killed me over all and then my front right was toast by the end.

Bring it on Sheldon! :-) You have more rental points than I do now, so I will have to pull a miracle out of my hat next time.

This race was uneventful for me - I was alone most of the time on the track, and sorry to see Hutch drop - I was looking forward to our battle when you caught me.

Congrats to the winner, and to the new guy. Thanks to everyone who raced cleanly and predictably in the slower cars - the courtesy to the passing drivers was great. Sorry you didn't win Bryce, maybe next time in the Porsches.

Now I have to figure out what to drive for only 6 rental points...

What a nail biter. My heart was pounding almost the entire time. I had some phenomenal battles throughout the whole race.

First was with Bill for many laps. Once I was on his bumper, I could out handle him nearly everywhere. But I just didn't have the power to pull away. I think I actually did overtake him twice at the last corner, but I had absolutely no chance of staying ahead on the main straight. He'd motor right on by me and leave me far behind by the first corner. Then I'd slowly, corner by corner, climb right back onto his bumper. Probably would have gone this way the whole race if I hadn't over-corrected a bobble and spun into the dirt (no wall thankfully). I never saw him again after that.

My ultimate battle was with Ray. This was very similar to fighting with Bill, but the Abarth (I'm assuming a G5) was almost perfectly matched to the Elite. I could not seem to get around this guy. Great defensive driving there. I had another couple spins (one assisted from behind by someone else) that put me well behind Ray more than once. But I was able to close up again over several laps. Finally, made it around him and had a helluva time defending after that. He made a real surge and was keeping pressure on til the very last lap. Nail biter for sure at the last corner of the last lap. We came out of it nearly side by side, but I had a slightly better run and just squeaked by at the checker by about a car length and a half.

Phenomenal racing everyone.

Time for me to retire the Elite for the season. What a great car it's been to me too.

See you all in the Porkas! I'll be driving cheap Mustangs after that... at least til I can afford E-types.

Pete, I watched that battle the last 2 laps. Good stuff. It really was so close, I didn't want to spoil that battle by coming through.

Man...My internet sucks..Race started fine...then aproaching Bryce it was alot of work trying not to warp and smash into him...finally i passed him and had a battle with Pete...well that was fine for a couple of laps until the chicane where all of a sudded i see his bumper dent and he go into the grass and I was not even close...aaaaahhhhhh...sorry man...i went to stop for you after that and hit the dirt too fast and went off to much..lol then saw you pass so started back in the race...and lo and behold my internet went out. :( I dont know if i can compete like this...i dont remember it being so bad.... i am in the process of changing providers and I hope it will be much better for me. You guys are lucky cause i was ready to kick some butt last night :)

Ok, 3 drivers owe me points!!!! LOL I ran a PB in qual for the cortina gt but it only got me into 13th place. lol
Got a great jump for the cortina at the start of the race and actually gained a few spots. T1 or T2 was a melee. I pointed for a hole and made it thru untouched. We need to remind people of the 1st lap punt rule or have an admin watch the races...
I was on Mark's bumper for a few laps, but he was just a tad quicker and started to pull away. 95% of the race was uneventfull in this dog of a car. I will never leave myself in a pts bind again... Congrats to Mike Miller and the podium. See you gents in Porsche's. Bring your flak jackets.

Thanks Mike. I wasn't even aware of you closing on us during the race. I noticed only during the replay and thought how lucky we both were that you didn't close with us. I appreciate you holding off for us to duke it out.

And John, no worries about the tap (I only suffered cosmetic damage). I appreciate the attempt to let me retake the spot and I'm even more sorry you had an off in the process... and then disco'd on top of it all! I'm sorry you're still struggling with that connection. I really hope your provider switch goes quickly. Would be a damn shame to lose you.
