USA e30: Imola

Rocky start having A. Pereira in the way - witnessed him take out G. Hedrick - replay review looks pretty obvious he was going for the punt.

Other than that, if I could have shaved 2 seconds in qual that I found in the race on the last lap, I would have started in front of the madness and most likely had a better run, though the 'corner cutter' ding bell is seemingly much too sensitive in some corners and non-existant in others.

Congrats Conor, Tristan found the buttons in those same corners ;).

The race from Hell. Nothing I could do could get any feeling of grip in the tires. I was disconnected just before the start of qualifying so instead of joining as a temp car I started from the back...no big deal actually. But, as I was starting to thread my way through the pack I encountered...for lack of a better phrase...poor physics.

After I had been driving SimBin's previous title, GTR2, for 6 months I started to blame the car setups and asked for people to upload theirs...didn't get anything more than a suggestion to use the default and someone that said they couldn't because it wasn't theirs. So, I'm not going to do that here because I won't be back. If you find this sim fun then that's great...I don't...in fact I was having more fun writing a report at work which I cut short so I can race here.

I find rFactor to be the only racing sim worth driving. I was hoping Race07 would be an improvement, but it's worse than GTR2. So, I'm going to see if there's a touring car series using rFactor.

Pretty bad start, dropped two places before the first corner. Later on SPUN twice at T1! Once I hit James after losing control, really sorry, apologize. Probably pushing too hard this race as I found myself off the pace. Need to practise more in the E30!

Exciting race for me. Qualifying went pretty well and I ended up in 9th place. The start was horrible though. I kept hearing a clicking sound and thought the car was stalled. I was very slow off the line and dropped immediately to 16th place. Sorry to the people behind me. Anyway, had a great race and moved up to 7th with some great bumper to bumper racing.

Game froze on me with two to go.

Not a good race for me. Did a ton of practice with a soft set up. Made long runs and kept the tires in good shape. Then just before qualifying I tried a hard set up and gained 1.5 seconds. Cool! Then when the race came, tires went off with 3 laps to go with the hard set up. Had 7th and tried to hold off Ryan but he got by on the last lap. Thanks for racing clean Ryan. On lap 8 or 9, went into the esses and hit the clutch instead of the brakes. CRAP! Then got a warning for cutting the track! I'll take 8th though. That is if it stands for going off through the grass. Good racing by all. Congrats to Conner and the podiums. Till next round...

Qual went well, but not as good as hoped; Conor nipped pole by several tenths. My diff setting for coast was too loose, and I slid into Tosa and Tamburello too much, bleeding off a lot of speed on the flyer lap.

My start was crap! My first gear was too long and I bogged it off the line. Mike Miller got by me before Tamburello. I followed he and Conor for a lap until I found a way past Mike shortly before the second Variante chicane, after he got loose on the power exiting the corner before. I chased down Conor and battled with him for a bit, finally finding a way past on the outside of Tamburello.

I have to say, racing with Conor is a real treat. He is clean, respectful, and damn quick. I drove very hard to stay in front of him, and unfortunately it showed; I served a drive-thru penalty halfway thru the race due to having used too much curbing on the exit of Acqua Minerale more than once. D'oh!

I got within a few tenths of Garret before the finish... One more lap!!

I hadn't expected the results I achieved either in qualy or the race. I typically qualy mid-pack, so picking up 4th was a great suprise just being pipped by Mike at the last second of qualy or I would have been 3rd. I set a pb in qualy as well.

My race was nice from the start. I fell in behind Tristan and Mike and saw Conor checking out. After Tristan passed Mike, he left Mike and I in a nice battle for 3rd. I managed to hang on to Mike the entire race with the gap as low as .8s and as high as 4s. My car starting getting loose with 3 or 4 to go. At this point, Tristan was paid off the stewards in the pit for a transgretion and came out about 8s behind me. I held the gap for only a lap and then he put on a charge that saw him eat the gap down at at rate of about 2s a lap! He caught me at the S/F on the last lap, so I just squeeked out a 3rd.

Congrats to Conor on the win. Kudo's to Conor and Tristan as well on having such blazing speed. I don't know how you guys do that.

Tough luck Garry. That was brutal by every concievable means.

Fun race! Almost part duex of the FABCAR race. Too bad technicalities got in the way of the fun :(

Qualifying surprised me big time. Clicked off a lap that was almost half a second faster than Tristan's but it was quite sloppy. I was on a better lap after that one but ran into traffic and bailed out.

I had a great start and distanced myself from 2nd and 3rd by about 10 car lengths. That closed up when Tristan got around Mike and started pressuring me. I held up as best I could for a couple laps but got crossed over on my steering going into turn one and lost the lead. After that he pulled out to a lead of a couple tenths, I was soon forced into a position where I had to be passively aggressive in my driving because by lap 5, I had already two strikes against me for cutting the entry at Aque Minerali (sp?). So I backed off a bit and did my best to clean up my lines. Soon after that, I started closing in on Tristan once again but blew it all away by driving it too deep into one corner and going off track. He graciously waited for me to catch back up, which I appreciated :). A couple laps later, he went off too and to pay back the favor, I slowed down and let him take back the lead. You won't get this kind of racing in a GT-X race that's for sure! :)

So I followed him around for another few laps until he got the penalty and served his drive thru. Rather unfortunate, since I would have liked to see if my car was up for the challenge all the way to the end against "the freak" :). After getting the lead back, I cruised around to the end, trying my best to avoid cutting the corners...
