USA G2: Imola

Apologies to anyone I got in the way of at the start. My 3 year old daughter decided to harass me during lap 1 and continued until I decided to quit before I ruined anyone's race. It's very hard to drive with a toddler leaping up onto your lap or pushing your arms away from the wheel.

Congrats Heinz and hopefully I can race with you all again next time.

Oh man , noooo !!!

Took the Mosler again just for the heck of it and it felt terrible at the beginning of the practice (as usual) , then made some tweaks to the setup just when the qualifying started and suddenly car felt really good. I was actually very pleased with the qualifying result and the changes seem to work really nicely on the race setup as well.

I was in a good pace and in solid 7th position , but then...DISCO time weeeeee :s.

Was a fun run for me but still... what a shame :(.

This race went rather well, quali was better than expected. Only .4 off the top time, 2nd place, not too shabby.

Start of the race, I had a good start, but Rob has freakin' pneumatic launch pads or something and went straight into the back of me, then into Heinz. Anyway, I was in 3rd by the first corner. Heinz took the lead and I passed Jay, but he was all over me and I didn't want to risk anything. I let him by without too much of a fuss, and he eventually made a mistake. I worked on setting laps within .3 seconds of each other and ran a consistant, no-spin race for the first time in a loong while. I didn't want to pass Heinz, as he is my team mate, and I didn't want to get too close because he froze a few times. So just hung back and we finished 1-2 for MOB/APR!

Grats Rob on the final podium spot, and I'd like to appologize to Brian Harrell. Brian, you pulled off the track when Heinz and I came up behind you, and I saw you get stuck in the gravel. I'm sorry that we (I think?) cost you your top 10 finish.

@ Jay - that's funny; I'd wondered what was going on with you on the first lap. I was thinking a bad case of cold tires, but then having a munchkin in your lap does explain a lot! ;-)

I have no such excuse alas; just couldn't really get going tonight. Knew from seeing the Euro race times I wasn't going to be able to run with the front guys, but hoped to hang in and salvage some points anyway. That was going to plan and I was running a safe 5th behind George when the motor went kerblooey.

So it goes! Grats to the podium (+ 1!).

Sorry for the wild start everyone, these BiTurbos seem to like to launch really well.

Except the start, race went well, wasn't sure on tire wear for a non-stopper but wasn't about to make the same mistake I made last G2 race. Tried to go easy on the tires, probably a little too easy.

Tom and I were behind Jay and it looks like he was having some issues (fruits of his loins) -- Tom got by but it took me a little longer.

I could not keep Tom's pace and it looks like he was catching Heinz slowly but surely. So I just ran conservative trying to make the tires last.

I had John behind me keeping the pressure on, but it looks like he was on a 1 stopper, pheew!

Then George was making in roads to my gap 5-6 seconds. I hoped I had conserved long enough and started to step up the pace towards the end, tires were in pretty good shape and cut the gap down to Heinz but it was too little too late.

Overslept the race :(

I remember setting alarm clock and waking up 2 hours to late. Must have turned off the alarm in my sleep, that's my only explanation. Too bad cos I had a great car after testing for the whole week.

1st off,apologise to Ralph,don't know what i was thinking.That really blew things for both of us.After John pitted,i figured i had enough gap to keep him behind and i might have gathered another couple of spots as tyre wear came into the factor,but the contact with Ralph and the time taken to get out of the sand,blew any chances.

Congrats to the rest of the podium...

Nice result for me for the 100th race for my team...

Was just a second attempt at getting on the podium after i messed it up in the Euro race. After getting a push start by Robs porsche, got passed Jay on lap 1 after he made a mistake and was able to pull away for the first half of race..
Tomo started to catch me in the second half, but 2 glitches from my car made him stay back and not challenge for the leaad, which he would have takene easily if he tried :P respect Tomo... then we brought it home for a 1/2. well done

I enjoyed this one, especially since I almost got a top 10! Hey, that is good for me. Anyway Tom, I saw you guys coming up on me fast and I was trying to setup a good place for you guys to pass without slowing down too much but before I knew it, you were right there. When I looked in my rear view I drifted a little farther than I wanted to and got stuck. No big deal, just glad I didn't cause the front guys any problems . Right then, I knew Paul was going to take 10th from me, oh well. He and I were trading places for a good part of the race. I swear, I get better lap times when I practice offline . I was getting 1:52 or so but could not even come close to that during then race, even when I was all alone.

Thanks for the good race guys. I think I needed about 3 more hours in practice and setup to make the bi-turbo work for me (It's a love-hate relationship ;). I made one too many tweaks before the start and I ended up sliding everywhere on turn-in. Tires were all but gone with 6-7 laps left and I ened up taking too much fuel. But all considering, I'm delighted to take a top ten and had a blast. Thanks Brian for the good clean racing - you might have found those two seconds if you weren't dealing with me and my squirrelly setup ;).
