F2: Silverstone

Sorry T. G. I saw you on my right. Thought it was ok to move over to the left. Didnt know you had crossed over to my left until it was too late. It probably looked like I was blocking you but I just didn`t know you were there. I ended up spinning and killing the motor. No starter in these so I was done.

Had a good time all. I really stopped in just to check out the cars for the 1st time. I couldnt run F1, and I needed to get my racing fix somehow. Started from the back and just cruised really. It took quite a few people to have problems, but somehow I ended up on the top step of the podium. Lots of room from lapped cars, thanks for that! Thanks all for the fun!

Well done Bob, congrat for winning this event. Jussi was a bit faster but his engine blowed some 6 laps before the end.

As for me, constant problems and worries with temperature and wear rate on that front left tire. That stopped me from thinking about some more aggresive driving. Bob passed me after few fair attempts, and my slight error. I couldn't drive his pace for much time. Any aggresive lap and overheated tire resulted in much problems to control the car in the next one.
I decide not to try to catch front drivers, but to wait and drive without any risk. That paid off with second possition. I am satisfied with that. Some better setup for this car would probably boost my ability to be in front, some other time.

Had lots of pace just minutes prior to qual, half a second quicker than eventual pole in fact but couldn't pull it out when it counted.

Then the parc ferme mess. Scoured the event notes for it, watched Bob's questions about it go unanswered and then the steward even declared it wasn't parc ferme.

The shock when race time came and it was parc ferme. Stuck now with super soft tires, insufficient cooling and a setup that was damn quick but way too unstable to control for 39 laps amongst other cars, especially with a ton of fuel and tires that would be soon off.

Punted off the track during the warm-up lap, 90 seconds pits watching the lights go green, engine damage from overheating only to exit with cold tires with the whole field right behind me, meaning constant blue flags that I had to respect. Didn't mind letting the first few thru as they were quicker but then I found myself held up allowing those behind to catch and present me with more blue flags to obey.

So I let everyone through, then managed to work my way back to 8th despite my mind being focused on how to change pit strategy to minimise the parc ferme damage. But if all that wasn't enough, lap 20 I get a disconnect as my ISP probably thinks 4am is a safe time to do maintenance.

Despite all that, enjoyed the unpredictability of it all and had a blast practicing around this track in these cars and especially the Champcars.

I've mentioned before about my usual great starts (just can't hold onto it for the finish! lol).
Well, this was no exception as I went from 6th to 2nd before T1! haha

Then It was just a matter of prolonging the inevitable with all those very quick youngster snapping at my heels. Got hit real hard at Stowe but managed to keep it straight while the guilty party was sent flying off the track for an extra penalty excursion! hehe

Had some real fun battles with a few of the boys, especially my new TST m8, Tommy G.

Was real disappointed to see my team leader Larry A. drop out, then fellow TST member Jonty do the same. Was looking for some fun battles with Larry, maybe next time.

Something slightly disturbing - I got a PM from someone who watched the replay stating the hit I got during the warm-up lap was undoubtedly intentional. So I had a look myself and must say it looked really bad, but not conclusive so I won't be officially reporting it.

The fact that the driver has not offered any sort of apology however makes me more inclined to think it was intentional, or, given that he has 13 DNF's in 20 events (also escaping out of this event) simply no respect for racing here. I'll be treading very cautiously around this driver in future.

Jonty, I noticed some very aggressive driving from the same driver. Made contact with me too, not in the usual way if we had just been racing close.

Not good - I also discovered that it was also he who squashed me off the track a few laps later as well. No damage because of the run-offs here but I did uncontrollably flash back across the track.
