Desert Mesa Showdown

Be warned folks- the meshes outside of the track are screwed up- one wheel i the wrong place and you fall through the meshes and the game resets you ON TOP of the wall. Game over, esc and call it a day. Also, the exit to the pits is in a VERY bad spot, so don't pit in the race if you can help it.

Be controlled over the jumps. This is a very poorly put together track.

Also- make sure you practice your starts too. The Start/finish line is on a steep hill and if you are not ready for it, you'll get a jump start.

Understatement of the year. IMHO, this track should be eliminated from existence. The so called triple on the start finish strait is ridiculous. In fact, it's IMPOSSIBLE! You can't even double the first part to roll over it. It high centers. And if by chance you do get lucky and hit it straight (actually, bounce off of it), you're narrowed down to a single width left hander that you have to shoot a gap 1 car wide to enter. Heavy drug use must be the blame for whoever designed this one.

I predict that within the first 5 laps that half the field will DNF.

I hate to say things like this because I love this Off-Road series and will try to do whatever I can to keep it afloat, but if we're gonna be plagued with tracks like this, it will discourage any new comers and the series will die. I don't want to see that.

I will take another look at this track to see if it should be replaced.

I was planning to join you guys until I tried this track. Some kind of sick joke. As hard as it was with these cars, I couldn't even complete a timed lap with the Trophy Truck. I'll try again at the next track.

Maybe you guys who are already established in this series could suggest some of the better ORR and desert tracks for the next season. I guess Tim is aware there are quite a few other tracks to choose from?

Not meaning to stick my nose in where it doesn't belong. I'm anxious to give this series a try. But Garry is right, tracks like this one could definitely discourage newcomers; it did me!

I agree totally, this track is brutal. In the trucks I was able to get to where I could clear triples 3 out of every 5 times, the other 2 times would likely put a real driver in the hospital if not a grave. In the buggies I've yet to make to clear them and most times destroy my vehicle trying.
There has to be a good replacement for this one.

I don't have a problem clearning the triple in the truck, haven't tryed it yet in a buggy. But I too wouldn't mind if this track was replaced by another.

Your qualifying line will be much different from your racing line. Int eh race we all need to remain very civil and there will be little passing. To take the triple before the bottleneck, you have to hit the first part in 4th, slam the brakes, drop a cog, floor the gas and use engine gyro effect to not flip. Come down the backside of the second hill, and take the third more or less blind, making sure you don't take it too far to the right. It's hard. In the race, we'll have to crawl over the triple just for safety sake.

I have a stable setup I will try to post. You cannot use the stock setup with this track.

For the Kordonowy Buggy. this makes it more stable over the bumps but induces some understeer. I am hitting 1:05 times.
