Kansas Shootout

Pole was a pleasant suprise after minimal practice. I decided to take it really easy at the start and dropped back to 3rd. After 8 laps or so Sandeep was baulked by Tom and I took 2nd again. My strategy seemed to be paying off, I was only 0.7 behind Tom and still saving my tyres but slowly closing in. Unfortunatly Sandeep didn't get the memo and started racing me for 2nd when really we should have been working together, and that put me back behind Dimiti and over 2 seconds behind Tom. Then I somehow lost it while still taking it fairly easy, I really dont know what happened there but it resulted in some heavy damage and resigned me to running around to pick up last place. Then the OTHR guys made a mess of things up ahead and I made a place or two up. I took a moment to check the new running order and as I looked up Finn was siding across the track infront of me, and I T-boned him at 180mph, game over. I'm suprised to see that somehow Finn survived that wreck! Oh well, another promising stock car race ends in a DNF. Sigh....

When yet another decent setup turned to crap after 15 laps, despite not pushing too hard, I lost interest in this race. And the sim.

Tom, I'm only going off what Sandeep told me in MSN. He says you got a little loose and he was so close he had to brake to avoid you and it messed him up. Not your fault just a racing situation I think.

Pete, I really think thats just stock cars for you, they aren't consistent in the slightest over a run. I spent the first 10 laps (would have been the first 25 or so if I'd made it that far without problems) driving on eggshells trying to save my tyres, maybe you are just starting these races too aggressively?

My lap times show I was running 2 -3 tenths off my practice times and in clear air. So no, I don't believe I was pushing too hard.
During the week I'd twice run full length races offline with the AI and the drop off was fairly even front to rear, therefore maintaining some sort of balance. In this race (and at the previous event) by one-third distance the front end didn't just lose grip, it gave up altogether, packed it's suitcase and buggered off home!
In both the last 2 events I've also suffered disco's before and during qually, which didn't help the frustration factor either.

Hey Tom, you did nothing wrong. I just trailed into the corner way closer to you than I should have tryin to get a run on ya and had to get on the brakes. Like Scott said, racin deal. Congrats on your win, nice job.

I was just real mad at myself for making that mistake and losing all that ground so I started to panic and tried to make up as many positions as I could when I should've been workin together with Scott to catch Tom. Really screwed over the both of us on that deal for sure as we both lost a chance to get to the front.
