Nashville Shootout

Damn, why are some of the events at 2:50 and some at 3:30? I tried to get on the server at the same time as I had last week, thinking I had a half hour to go to qualifying, but of course, the race was long underway already.. I have no idea why the times are alternating for each race, but my fault I guess for assuming it was at the same time as last week. :( Oh well, so much for contending for this Championship.. congrats in advance, Tom. And good win Pete.

Now this is good fun. Jon and I went at it lap after lap for 6th or 7th place, and had a good little battle with Jim for a bit before that. Too bad the numbers are getting lower, it's really such a good platform for stock car racing.

Sandeep the event times change based on what series is running in tandem with it that week (either WTCC or nGTx), its just what Tim has to do to fit all these events in. It really sucks that you missed it :-(

Anyway, I probably shouldn't have showed up. I planned on putting in a few laps in practice but by the time Sam reminded me of this race it was 7:45 and qual had just started so I didn't get any of that practice. I'm also really starting to dislike the physics of these cars on the cookie-cutter tracks, I keep having random spins. I had one in qual, hence I started last, then I had one while battling for 5th with Sam, hence I finished last. Sigh....

I'm not going anywhere, and Sandeep tends to provide me with some pretty hot setups. Its probably just my lack of practice.

Difficult first time out for me with ARCA. I seem to be struggling mainly to get a consistent driving style that works lap in lap out. There were times in practice where it felt like I was having to use a different technique every time I hit the track. Was a shame because in practice with Tom and Pete I ran a 29.8 but couldn't get near it again in qual or the race.

The race itself for me was very tough. The car started tight and just got worse and worse and with no pitstops there was nothing I could do other than yet again trying to work on my technique. I brushed against Dan early on but nothing came of it and he continued on his way which I was pleased about. Similarly I lost out to Scott and Jim on their way through the field after early mistakes.

Had a long battle with Sean which in the end he won through sheer determination and patience. I admire that. In the end I trundled home a tired 7th.

I've really got to put more time in with this sim... probably a good idea to shell out on a new headset as well.

Scott, after a few more races, you'll get used to driving these bigger tracks with these cars. You just have to watch out for the subtle sensations while hustling around these places. You have a lot of natural talent and all you have to do is develop a sense of what to look out for the most while driving these cars. And like all things, it'll come thru practice.

Tom, still looking forward to some good racin anyways! :-)
