Megane: Bathurst

Congrats to podium.

Well, it is a hard track to keep this car on the tarmac all the time and so it prooved for me: I lost it and broke something but could repair in L3, then second time I lost it it was a completely stopped engine with no chance to go back to track.

Qual was a little disappointment with lap times slower then expected but still got 2nd start position behind Jeffrey.

Race,
Had a strong 2nd. place 2 sec. behind Jeffrey when damaging chain started. So after long repair pit stop and still 2-3 sec off pace laps due low max. speed, till penultimate lap when crashed again and just cruising to the finish that 6th finishing position was not bad at all.
Grats Jeff and top 3.

Interesting battles early on then after a couple of spins lost pace due to damage and pretty much did not see a car for the last 18 or so laps which was a shame but self inflicted.

Good clean start from what I have seen and well done again to Jeff on the win.

Man these are tough cars though and snap loose so easily.

Pretty pleased with 2nd first time out in these things. Didn't bother to qualify as i just wanted to get a feel in this race to see how i liked it, but got away really well and made up 2-3 spots before T1. made up another couple round the mountain and was running 11th behind Matt when he lost it out of the turn after Conrod - i was too close behind to back out and tapped him the rest of the way around so sorry about that m8.

Next lap i was running behind nick at the Dipper when we came across Steve building a sandcastle there - i hit the brakes a bit too hard and went across the kerb which threw me sideways into him picking up damage to my car which never felt good after as the wheel was 20 degrees to starboard to compensate :(.

Had some good scrapping in the middle part of the race with Pablo & Roberto and then just tried to get some good laps in, but it's a shame such a low speed hit did so much apparent damage 'cos i was about a second down on what i know i could have done. the stop was a right mess up too as i did not know the tyres and fuel were done GT style as in one after the other so a 29 second stop but it did get me ahead of Mr Inglesias, but behind Roberto.

anyway i got by Roberto near the end and just nursed it home and hoped Jeff would get 4 punctures :P

apologies to Neil for the sideswipe - dunno if it was the damage but when i hit the brakes it pulled me sideways a tad into you, and also to John for pinching him a bit in T2 early on - didn't know until i saw the replay how close we were tbh.

Was 4th quickest in practise,then as usual dropped a couple of places in qualifying to 6th.Got away to a clean start on the green & climbed to 4th on the 1st lap,which was a bit of a surprise,then whilst coming off skyline into the dipper on the 2nd lap went a bit deep & clipped the fence sending me into the sand on the opposite of the track.Eventually climbed out of that after saying hello to Jack & found myself back in 11th-bugger!!.From then on just tried to be consistent & not make anymore dopey mistakes which resulted in a 5th place result--gotta be happy with that.Had a nice battle with John Bayes again during the race until he pushed a bit hard & whacked the fence.Cya all next week.

My first Megane race and it ended up being a bit of disaster. Qualy went okay but then on lap one I was a bit too agressive at the top of the Mountain and lost it. Didn't hit anything or anyone - so thanks all.

I got back on track to try and make up some time, but didn't realise quite how much front downforce you lose when following someone close and ended up tagging the wall a coupe of times. Pitstops needed, so it all got pretty boring and lonely.

On to the next one. Nice win Jeffrey :)

My race wasn't very interesting from a 'battling with others' perspective, but it was rewarding nonetheless.

Given my pace in practice, I decided not to qualify, and just drive round at the back and pick up positions as others crashed. That strategy worked a treat, as I ended up 7th!

Delighted with the result, but I'm actually MORE delighted with how I drove - 25 laps around Bathurst (over 58 mins) without hitting a wall, spinning, or taking to the grass is incredible, and I'm not sure how I managed it. And it's not like I was taking it easy, as more than half my race laps were faster than my previous best! I guess, in a sense, that has to be one of my best sim-racing achievements. So well chuffed here. :D

No problem Jack, I knew it was tight but I mounted to kerb to avoid hitting you which span me around, just one of those things.

Screwed up my stop, took 100 litres and 4 tires which took 30+ secs, so lost touch to the pack I was racing with, then continued a battle with Steve who must have had a similar bad stop, then caught another kerb and that lauched me into a wall, could not steer left after that so called it a night.

GTR2 has the option to turn off damage fix at pitstops,is that possible in this mod?

Yes! At the bottom of the LCD where you select tyres, fuel etc, there is the damage. Fix body, fix all or repair nothing is what you can pick IIRC.
