Megane: Vanport

Wrong places at the wrong times, again. 4.75 laps in the last 3 races.

Sounds as though Jonty had as much luck as I did,oh well,at least I don't have to get up at 5.30am for the privilege.

This track makes my Mègane bump like a bounceball, and I found it hard to keep it straight on the track without spinning at every corner.

Qualy was a bit better than expected as I only managed to make 15s in pre-qual practise. At race start I lost one position, but early spins got me to 10th place where I was handling fine until I made the first of my only two mistakes in the race: stepped over the slippery kerb of T10 (the one after the back straight) and lost it, going too close to the tires wall.

That put me in 18th place (last), but I kept my pace and as other mates spun or went wide I gained a few positions, only being able to real overtake once at the end of the back straight.

Then, almost close to the end of the race, I made my second mistake: went over that kurb again, but this time I had enough gap and didn't loose my position. The pity is that race leader was coming fast and I had to lift in the back straight to let him pass in spite of being last lap, so I finally ended 1 lap down.

Sorry if it was you who hit me up the ass as I rejoined after I ran off track thru the final esses Jonty.If not I apologise to whoever it was. I really thought I was plumb last & no one could possibly be behind me !
I'm really strugling with the Meganes they are so powerful & twitchy I may give them a miss & stick with the FBMW's as they are more predictable & find a slower easier to handle tintop series if there is one about.
I decided to just park it to avoid anymore incidents.

Very happy to come away with 2nd.

The aim for qualiy was to try and get on either of the first 2 rows of the grid to make good use of my decent starts. Pretty much secured 4th as I got behind a quick car which didn't hold me up in the corners but gave me a nice tow down the 2 straights.

Got a good jump at the start but it could have been better as I had a little lift which bogged the engine down a little, but it was still good enough to get alongside Barney going into T1. Pretty much went round side by side, Barney ran on the curb a little sending him a little wide resulting in some door to door contact but nothing to wright home about. Dipped the clutch to get the revs up and it gave me a decent exit and I came away in 1st.

Barney was clearly quicker though so he had no problem in staying with me. I held the lead for a couple of laps but then in T5 (2nd left hander) I went in slightly too hot which sent me over a bump kicking the rear out. Had to lift for a split second to save it which gave Barry the chance he needed to sneak by.

Then a short while later I was down to 3rd after a flying Sam Moss passed me down the pit straight as the car wouldn't change from 3rd to 4th due to a dodgy wire inside my wheel.

From then on I was just watching the battle between Barney and Sam for the lead while trying to stay close enough to take advantage of any incidents :). It took a while but with around 5 laps to go Sam spun giving me my chance to sneak up to 2nd spot. Barney was off like a rocket now the pressure was off though so I wasn't going to catch him, was happy that I stayed with in 4 seconds of him though.

With a couple of laps left Sam was catching but not by a huge amount, but enough that I had to keep it clean as one slight mistake would be enough for him to get his 2nd place back. On the last lap though he must have spun again as he vanished from my mirror.

Grats to Barney for 1st and Sam for 3rd spot and to all the finishers. Cya all next week :).

Great race for me :) Kieron got a better start than me although Sam got away slower so we were 3 abreast heading into turn 1, I braked very late I had a little slide over the curb with Kieron the unsuspecting barrier I felt bad about it and feathered the throttle to let him regain his momentum Sam got a tag from behind then he tagged me but only minor damage to the car, I had a great battle with Kieron I was lucky he made a very small mistake which gave me enough room to sneak past Sam soon came to give me grief for about 12 laps great fun guys wd Kieron & Sam and WD Sam on a 1:11.9 lap time Very Good!

Good race for me considering my lack of prep, knew early on it would be a war of attrition so just tried to drive within myself and avoid any contact.

Watched the battle between Mart, Pablo and Ivan hoping for a big coming together but did not materialise, will settle for sixth though on a tough track in these.
