Megane: Long Beach

Congrats to podium.

All the effort made at qualy (12th place) went down the drain at start: few meters after green lights I was 18th !!

Fortunately I could gain some places in the first turns, some of them passing other mates, some of them taking advantage of spun or crashed cars.

After a few laps I was cruising my way home in 10th place and near the end got an unexpected 9th place because M. Cox got into pits.

PS: Sorry to M. Cox for a little punt when he was about to enter pits still in 9th place. I saw you could go in safely without spinning.

Quite happy with 2nd spot tonight - should have been 3rd by rights, but poor Sam spun it and lost a ton of time when he was generally a bit quicker.

Had a bit of a panic when the PC died earlier in the evening so switched to the backup while my dad pulled the other one apart. Everything was the same except i forgot to properly fuel my racecar and went on track with a full tank when i knew only around 70 litres was needed so i was a bit slower than i really wanted to be and drove a bit of a scruffy race in all honesty, but take nothing away from Barney - he was faultless tonight as the laptimes showed, and fully deserved the win.

Strategy was to keep it on the track, at any pace.

I did that, but only because the track has walls.

Somehow my brakes just didn't work on the first corner. I broke way early, didn't lock, seemed to keep my place in the group, maybe I just didn't turn enough. Very confused.

After 20 seconds trying to get the pit box to register, and then 130 seconds repair work, I get the message that not all damage could be repaired.

So I half-limped the remaining 19 laps hoping for drop outs.

Glad to be that far up on the grid, and just wanted to avoid any early stuff, but the start looked pretty clean which is again a big well done to all considering how some real life drivers can royally cock up here.

Settled into 6th with Ivan and Kieron battling in front, and Roberto right behind me. One slip round the fountain let Roberto past, then Sam slipped back to 6th.
And so it was, watched good fighting going on ahead, not quite the pace to do anything about it, but sat waiting and hoping for the guys to get it wrong.

Fair play to them all though, some great clean racing and eventually settled for 7th. Awesome pace by Barney and only 4 DNF's was a lot less than I was expecting, good work everyone.

As is my tendency these days, I started from the back - far better to see what's going on and avoid trouble. Took a few laps to get going, and then promptly had a lazy spin exiting the final turn, losing me all the positions I'd gained since the start. After that I didn't make any more mistakes, and set a nice pace (for me). Didn't see much action after that, and when Matthew Cox visited the pits I moved into the Top 10 for another points finish.

Special mention to Nuno Areias with whom I had some great side-by-side racing for a lap or so before I finally made my pass stick. Great stuff Nuno! :)

I got a good start I messed with the brake bias just before the start "not the best time to do that I know lol" so I braked early into first corner but no drama I then got used to brakes which were better Thanks Dave :) I had great fun with Sam for first 10 laps until his virus checked kicked in, unlucky mate make a mental note to your self dude! Lol from then on I just tried to push without hitting the walls the guys observed the blue flags great I think the best I've seen for ages

Tiny tap on Kieron on lap one and my front left side flies off, after that well it didnt want to turn right and another DNF for me.

Am I the only 1 who thinks 100% damage in R2P events is too much? I realy only brushed Kierons back bumper nothing more.

I have to agree with Dave on the 100% damage maybe 50% could be tried out?

I'm fine with 100% damage, it's up to oneself to drive smooth enough to avoid touching others or walls.

In my opinion 100% damage level gives us slower (or more careful) drivers a chance when the ones pushing hard make a little mistake, something that probably wouldn't happen if damage level was lower. Ever wondered why I always loose some spots at start? :P

I think it's just the Meganes Dave, all the other mods I feel I get what I deserve (I deserved yesterday's punishment however).

I've heard many times that they're a DNF just waiting to happen.
