Hockenheim GT3 Cup

Great race Claus.

I had another soso qual, was practicing just before entering the room in the upper 103's so I was quite upset about my 104.7 effort. Good enough for 3rd on the grid.

Got a real nice start and Claus and I began opening up a nice gap to Tolga in 3rd. Then as we came into the early traffic Claus had to lift a little and I tapped him sending us both into a long slide. Claus saved it I didn't and Tolga was able to get bye. I was glue to his bumper from there to the finish. Once he went off and I got bye only to do the same thing he did 2 laps later :(

Was pretty frustrating being a lot faster but not wanting to take Tolga out just to get the postition. Not that I didn't try to pass I just couldn't get bye. Nice racing Tolga well done.

My set ended up being good for quali but not so good for the race. Not that I would have had anything for the guys in front of me but it would have been nice to try to keep up with someone instead of being left in the dust and pulling away from the folks behind me. Ended up being the most boring race I've had here with no one to race with the whole time.

Ok here's my great race .Practiced on full tanks 1-05 flat quite good then lost connection tryed everything it just wouldn't take my password hockcup. Got back on with less than 5 minutes in Q and Qualified 9. 1 second slower than practice
Made a great start passing 2 cars into turn 1 ,was a bit cautious and slow on the run to the 2nd corner, where l was hit hard from behind ,Sending me to the back of the grid only for the 4th race in a row . Magny Cours, Estorial ,Valencia and now Hockenheim
Fought back to 10th when again l lost the connection .Maybe its Windows Vista just don't get it

For me it was my first proper race since a long time, and i really enjoyed racing again.
Qualy didn't go too well, i used my race setup with less fuel and that made the balance of the car pretty different. Had trouble finding some space for a fast lap too, but at the end i did a reasonable lap good enough for fifth on the grid.

In the race i was up to fourth after the first corner and after that i tried to keep up with Tolga, Kent and Claus. Soon i realized that they were too fast and they disappeared in the distance. I build up a gap to Devin too so after a while i was doing my laps alone. Near the end of the race the gap to Kent was suddenly down to 4 secs, prolly because of a spin or traffic. At that point my tires were gone though so i couldn't get any closer then that.

It was great to be racing again. Though i can feel that i have been out for a while. My arms were hurting pretty bad after the race :)

Had an excellent battle with G Didduck and S Blankenship for 10+ laps in the middle of the race, we all traded posistions a few times.

What a consistant driving Claus good job.

Qual was good actually. I thought its Hockenheim National or what its name is dunno. But i was surprised that the track is different. After that i realized its Hockenheim Short lol. I never raced here before so i tried to learn track and by this time trying to make a setup. My luck track not long and i could memorize easily but there was 1 point that i had to drive very carefully. Its after the straight in mid of the race, car should be stable there. I tried to increse stability for braking while turning. After these practices, this time it was time to drive fastly and do some good laps. I placed 2nd in qualy and was happy with that. Knew that i had no chance against CJ.

In race, i started awful. Lost 2nd place to Kent. After this started to chase him. But he was pulling slowly, every lap gap was increasing. Then at one lap i suddenly saw him in front of me and passed him, he spun while avoiding an accident i thought. Now i got 2nd place and he was way faster than me but its nearly impossible to make a pass on this track. In braking points we had some contacts but not heavy ones so we continued fighting. In mid of the races after the straight on the mid i saw some1 is so slow or spinned in the corner, i decided to pass him on the grass to avoid a crash and kept it low speed for not spinning there. Kent made an attack at that point and passed me. After 1 lap he made a mistake at same point went wide and i passed him this time lol.

I m very pleased with my 2nd place while Kent was too fast from me and i could keep him in 3rd. I felt very wet after race lol was a close race.

Yup Ryan, really enjoyed the mid-race scrap for 6-8 with you and Garret. Good close racing, with everyone giving each other just enough room. I barely tapped Garret once going into T2, but neither of us lost more than a tenth or two over it. We just ran tight and exploited each other's errors to get by without forcing anything - nice when you can run close enough to rub fenders without anyone just shoving you off. Greg Mulgrew was in there earlier too and we had a little four-car train going for a while. Good stuff.

As usual it seems, I just got in from the office in time to see if I'd gotten in (was 5th on waiting list earlier) and fire up GTR2. This was the 1st time I'd seen the short version of Hock, so I was clueless in the 4 minutes of Qualy that I got in, and then kept having brain fade in the race when my "autopilot" kept looking for braking and turn-in points from the longer versions. Went off once as a result, hard enough into the tires before the tight chicane to mung the front end and create some understeer for the rest of the race. Wasn't too bad though, mainly hard to get rotated through T1 at speed after that, but low speed turns were better and lapped traffic kept tightening up the gaps so it was OK.

Finally got up to 6th which was about as good as I could hope for, and then my pit told me I was low on fuel. Was so annoyed that I went off again while staring at the Motec in disbelief! I'd once again managed to do myself in via pitstop, only this time in a stop-free race. ;-) Put 41 laps worth of fuel in to start with, but didn't have time to check consumption in practice. Beginning to think I'm deserving the big pointy hat!

The brief off and subsequent stop cost about a minute, and that was that. Tried to chase down Barry at the end but ran out of time. Could've used the rest of an hour to undo my blunder, but would probably have just run out of gas again!

Steve fuel calculation in short tracks is wrong. To be sure how much fuel u need for the race simply make a lap and watch your fuel. In this track it was about 1.1 liters per lap and 43 liters of fuel was enough for race.

Yeah Tolga we had a couple taps but fortunately nothing too big to cause a spin. Personally I won't take advantage of a bump and run pass so no need to worry there :P
