GTR2 fun-run

Congrats to both GT and nGT podiums.

Oh man, I think I'll have my tires checked after this race. I think I over-push the tires, maybe it's my driving style but in spite of having meds/hards I was sliding after only 20 minutes.

Well, I had plenty of fuel for over 60 minutes, but I had to put up with worn tires for many laps and my laptimes dropped dramatically. Is there any way to keep the tires from wearing so quickly?

Race was fun having a nice battle with some other guys for 3 or 4 laps until I spun in the middle of a turn. At that time I had no much grip 'cause I had been pushing a bit to get from 17th to 13th position but all 3 of them avoid me cleanly. That was nice handling.

After that it was much of a boring race just trying to get safe till the end.

So, one day less for S8.

The start was wierd. A few drivers in front of me really cruised, and I thought about a possible form lap, but then ngt cars shot past so I knew the guys in front of me were just screwing up ;p

I made it through safe, and within a few corners was ahead of the ngts and chasing the rest of the GTs.

Had some fun racing with Anton and others.

Felt good to put in a long stint in this sim, it's been awhile.

I did a 0 stop strategy and it was ok. Since my pace was slow anyway, my laptimes didn't drop much once my tires were sloppy. Never got the tires worn warning. I could have just squeaked through on fuel but I was nervous I guess and did a splash and go. I should have waited for the leader at the line. So I dropped from 3 to 4th, but still I think the 0 stop gained me a spot ;p

Also thank you nGT's for being aware and courteous, but you don't have to pull out of the apex to let me past. I'll pass you braking for a corner or on the straight. I will try and stay close mid-corner but don't worry just go through the corner smooth and I'll pass you on acceleration!

Grats to all,great race.Firstly sorry to Barry as entering T1 his car just froze & I plowed into the back of him which finished his race but surprisingly little damage to my car.Continued on & had a bit of a moment with a half spin at the same turn that soured Franciscos race which cost me 2 spots.After some laps eventually regained those spots & had a great dice with Nick until he shot by me into turn 2 then turn 3 he apparently got a bit loose & I tapped him into a spin.From then on just kept out of trouble & ended with a podium.

First ever podium finish for me. Nice to see Ferrari on top of it all. I made it clear to do a full run with no stop. Too Medium Hards. The car wasnt to bad but I just couldnt drive it as fast as Sam and Timon. Brno is not my best track, but I learned something new with the F360GTC.

Sry to whoever was in the saleen, I went wide to let you pass but it looked like you lost it in front of me. No harm done as I came to a stop to avoid damage.

Barry what happened to you? Looked on the replay looked like you lagged out for a second.

Thanks GT drivers for not crowding me with your passes. Sometimes in a race a GT car closes in fast mid turn and its hard to get out of the way when your already at max grip. I appreciate you guys backing down until the straights.

hmmmm , only 10 (TEN!) cars at GT class ? And I stay on waiting list , bleah . And yes, I made refresh on the page until the race was started. And I saw from the gtr2 lobby, that was only 22 cars on the server at all time. Why I don't receive the password during the practice/qualification like I receiveid another times ?

well, being that this was my first full sim race, I had an excellent time. I was trying to stay consistent throughout the entire race. I tried to make an outside pass just before a corner and I guess I pushed the car a little too hard. That caused me to end up in the sand and dropped me to the back of the pack.

My cornering didn't feel all that quick so I might have had a setup issue aswell.

After checking my stats I believe I could have made a very strong fifth overall place. Very nice I think being that it was my first time in a full competition grid.

I just wish I didn't accidentally press ESC when i was in the pits. :(

Decided to race as I have a league race elsewhere coming up and took the RSR for practice.
Thought I was going to be at the back early on but slowly picked up the pace.
Sat for most of the first half on Steve's tail then took my chance when he ran wide for a GT to come through, a well used tactic here :-]
Unfortunately due to taking a different line I got loose and cut across Steve ending with me spinning, no problem Steve a racing incident I know as we have raced plenty together.

Set about trying to make up places towards the end, and as people dropped out this got better, choice of med/hard seemed to pay off as I was catching Ed and Steve towards the end. Thought I had a couple of minutes left then the chequered came out as four of us joined together going up the final hill, Nuno struggling in the Lambo.
Another lap would have been very interesting but settle for my pace and good experience.

Good fun in early laps with Timon , some close racing and a good chase both ways. Managed to grab the lead when Timon went wide but he held on several laps after that and put up some good pressure.

Looks like we were on a different strategy thou and when he pitted , my race got a bit lonely. Car held on pretty good through the race and didn't have any problems at all , was fun to slide that Ferrari around Brno which is one of the favorite tracks of mine :) . Pretty happy with the performance after a break ,felt a bit rusty at 1st but it came back pretty fast.

Great to see 2 Ferrari's at the top of the nGT podium , well done Aaron :) . There's not too many of us F360/GTC enthusiastics here and it's always nice to see some variety in the field :) . Grts to Steve too for the 3rd place in nGT class and of course Ari , Martin and Roman for the GT podiums.

@ Francisco: There's not much you can do about the tire wear i think, it's more about the car balance when the tires wear out and the aim is to wear them out evenly at the front and rear. You may have to take some compromises with the overall car handling in the early race,but it usually pays back in the end.
I was in a medium compound all around and they were close to 30% wear at the end but handling was still there , thou i do not know how the Porsche uses it's tires since i've never driven it. Brno is notorious on tire wear thou , specially the T1 can chew up the tires pretty quickly if pushing too hard .

Thanks all for the fun-run , would have hoped for a bit more drivers in the race thou , since it was looking so promising at the registration page before the event.

Just forget to set rev limiter after qual. Better luck next time. Cheers
