FIS '08 fun-run

Tim, could you post the replay for the race so we can learn from the yellow situation we had? I don't have replays recording.

Had a lot of fun, except for the yellow confusion.

I got a drive thru as I think some others might of,have no idea why.

I think a bunch of us did Steve. I'm confused about it myself.

I was in the pits green then the yellow came out as I entered my pit stall. Is there any chance some of the penalties were for passing me under yellow?

That was fun and crazy and I only lasted through half the race. I didn't test much here much with these cars as a beta tester after the initial builds so I was very unprepared for this one. Loaded my old setup late in practice and...it didn't work. It was slow but handled good. Then halfway through qualifying, I realized that I had forgotten all about the upgrades and was told that the default was for road courses which I didn't change. Doh! So I went out and came back in with the correct upgrade and just chose to start last. During the last minutes of qual, I loaded my old setup, went out out on track and straight into the wall. Car didn't even want to turn because I had a 1/1 wing set.

So for the race, I just threw a 4/2 wing set at it to see what would happen. On the second lap, I spun out in traffic because the damn thing was so loose. Fortunately a caution came out soon after so I gathered with the rest of the pack. Came into the pits and added more downforce. I thought that would fix it and it did for a portion of the time, but over the long stint after the first stops, the car would gradually get looser and looser. At one point when I was with the front pack, I just about had a half spin coming out of 3...had to go down to the access road and through the grass just to save it. I kept it straight but lost a ton of ground. A few laps later, one of the cars behind me got a draft and passed me low going into T1. My car couldn't handle the outside and slammed into the wall trying to save it. It was pretty fucked there afterwards. Tried to go into the pits to fix the damage but even then, the car struggled to get over 200mph. So I bailed out.

I guess I still have more homework to do with this mod. But these things are a blast and definitely test your wits :).

Hope you all had fun. I had fun for my two laps but then helped cause the first wreck and caution on lap 3, sorry DC and BF for damaging your cars bad.
It was fun, you both were wobbling and coming out slower than me so I tried to split you guys but the door closed and I couldn't hold the car stable. A combination of aero turbulence from your cars and my nerves ;p
Looks like we need a few more of these exhibitions to sort out the pits and get used to the cars.
Great job TC, I haven't tried this on road courses yet but it felt nice on this track.

Im working on uploading the replay. The file storage server is going extremely slow so it will take a bit.

I think we figured out the problem with that one caution. No big deal, just a fluke (It was all Tom's fault). In either case, during the Indy 500 event we will have stewards that will fix those little messes if they pop up.

A couple of you mentioned how easy it was to go flat-out even with a 1-1 wing. As it turns out, you all were using the Road-racing chassis which has some added grip over the trimmed out oval racing chassis. Nice to have this happen in a fun-run environment as now I see it is extremely important to lock the server to specific chassis. Even with my 5-2 wing, the car pushed when behind other cars, you guys at 1-1 have a lot of work cut out for you :-)

And it's a whole new ballgame. :)

I just now figured out this for myself. I was using the Road chassis.

That was a good time. Was a few tenths off my pb for Q.
My car was fast and stable for full tanks.
Went into T3 3 wide and I drifted up a bit and thinking everyone else would but Ryan saw that and jumped on it. Nice try Ryan, would of been beautiful if it worked.
I did have another couple feet to give, but didn't think you would try it. Sorry about that. We would of had a great time. Me and Tim both got major air and my damage dropped me 2 sec a lap. Put in some laps just to stay on the lead lap but that came to and end due to damage and a spin.\
Nice mod , should be a really good time.
