Exige Challenge

Congrats guys, that was a lonnnng race.

Andrew, it seems this was not your day.

Somehow I lost 30 secs to Mike during the Pit stops, finding myself 41 secs down. I managed to get that back to 14 secs, but a few late meetings with the chicane wall opened that up again.

Thanks to Doug for arranging the series. The cars are really fun to drive. I really enjoyed it, even with getting up at 3h15 in the morning!!! lol

Somewhat bad racing on my part.
Not that I raced bad(I think...) but I started with hard tires hoping their durability would allow me to finish the race doing only one pit stop but they never got up to temp so I had to takes curves one gear less than if I had used med or soft.
Suffered 3 suspension damages; one in the beggining laps(~9) and had to pit so I changed to med tires there; around lap50 or so I had another and decided to fill my tank for the rest of the race and use hard tires(somehow I forgot how bad it had in the first few laps); used the hard tires for almost the rest of the race until my front left punctured due to a collision in the first turn in the last laps(~15 to go) so I went to pit and changed the tires to soft and filled the tank for the remaining laps.
I hadn't noticed that in the last collision I had suffered suspension damage and didn't fix it. I noticed once I had finished my last pit and I didn't feel like going back in to fix it since there were so little laps left to finish.
In the end I finished last, which wasn't a surprise really.

In the ~90lap I somehow passed Carson and was going for the chicane and I don't know if it was my fault but it seemed like he late braked and crashed. I'm sorry if I caused you to crash by not allowing you to pass in the curve, but it didn't seemed safe to me to allow you to pass in the curve so I held to the position and was going to allow you to pass once we cleared the chicane. It seemed like the crash damaged his car and couldn't finish the race. Sorry if it was my fault.

Anyways, I really enjoyed this series, the car was fun to drive and I think I'll miss it.

Hey guys, It really wasn't my day.
I came in late in qualifying and couldn't get a lap in.

I've learned something:

NEVER try to use a large screen TV for race without adapting to it first. I hooked my computer up to a tv to race and realized I was losing several seconds per lap due to the strangeness of a larger screen. That resulted in my poor performance.

Thanks for hanging with me guys and not just pulling off, I'm sure the flag warnings were getting quite annoying. Was a great race for me, not one mishap and I had enough of a cushion at pit that I was able to make it a 'true' pit stop ;)

It was a very long race though. Good practice for consistency I guess.

First pole and win feels good, even with the low turnout, finishing this one in one piece no matter the result was earning it.

Anthony, nice running out there, you approached the race with the right mentality, which was to learn more of the track and get better for your 150 (148 ;).

As for qual versus race setup; I didn't do a thing except gas it up. Soft's and all. I loved this mod, but it does need some tweaks as it seems more like just a hack of the Elise GT4. The Exige S is fast and furious, but a quality mod with standard Exige is in order, hopefully on Evo. Especially since there is a new Exige GT3 - for real. I haven't even looked, there may be one already - if so, that should be the replacement series.

EDIT; Congrats to Mike, you were consistent all season.

A big well done to Mike on the Championship!!! It was close, 3 points at the end of the day. Hard luck Andrew, that's how it goes in the cruel cruel world of racing. For Mike, it was meant to be ...

Now, how about a Aussie V8 series, GTR2 or rF? I see the Bathurst 1000 is coming up ... oooh! 6 hrs of racing ... I think I might just give it a bash. But I'm not quite sure how Enis got a 2:03 lap record? I cant get under 2:18. Gosh....

Yeah, bathurst for 1000k is very intimidating to me, that track is crazy, drive the downhill limiting to 1/8 throttle or less and very infrequently, "falling with style" comes to mind. Here's a hot lap from standing...

Great race Paul. Couldn't touch you. Anthony ran consistently & was always there in case I made a mistake. Luckily I only made a couple of small errors, I redeemed myself for Barcelona's fiasco. Over 2 hours racing is a totally different experience. After a while, I really "felt" the track.
Too bad the field wasn't bigger - it was lonely out there at times.
Congrats to all the guys that finished the race - that's an accomplishment in itself.
