BMW e21 fun run

very dissapointing race for me :(
I was surprised to get the 5th in qual, so i was pumped up... start went fine, got in 4th, and then, my poor teammate Garret went sideways in the last corner, blind one, and slammed pretty hard on him, my car was damaged and couldn't push as hard, but i was climbing back a bit, then lost the rear end in last corner too and came sliding pretty fast in the pits, so i made an earlier stop, got penalized because of my forced entry, end of story, stayed in just not to get a dnf for the team...

Good times. I wish it could have been earlier because by the time I got home from work and sat down, qualifying was just getting started. It took me half the race just to get my practice pace back and I still didn't get nearly as fast as I was earlier this week.

The first half was a lot of fun. Really thick traffic in the early laps with lots of exciting battles going on all around. It started to thin out a bit later and I found myself following for Rob Melchione for most of the first stint. Came in to the pits right on his bumper and was fortunate enough to have a slightly faster pit team which got me out of my box with the positions reversed. From there I was able to get my rhythm back and create a gap so I could breath and the entire second half of the race was all alone. Not much to tell about.

I didnt think i was that quick, and just wanted to have fun, when i found a pb in quali and landed 4th on the grid i thought this could be interesting if i can keep up to Barry, sam and kevin.

I dropped Kevin at the green and made a good effort to keep up and watch sam trying to get passed barry, I almost thought it was going to end in tears, but they held themselves well.. On lap 6 sam got passed barry and this helped me get closed and pressure barry which forced him into some late braking, he ended up spinning and while i wasnt sure what his car would do, i kept on the outside, but only saw him spinnning out in my mirrors.. sam wasn't pulling away, and pit early

When i came out the pits sam was 2 seconds clear and managed to keep increasing the lead.

These are about the best cars imho for rFactor, sublime. Problem last night was the driver. I just got too excited I suppose. In practice I was very fast (keep in mind, for my standards) and I was looking forward to starting in the top5. Had concentration problems during qualy and screwed up, started 8th. Had about the best 1st lap ever with Dennis Morissette: side by side, clean, fantastic. Here I noticed one of the recurring fundamental problems with my racing talent: I have none. Never once during practice did it occur to me that my 5th gear was a joke because, well, I wasn't running close to anyone in practice and I figured everything was just sweet. It was only during the race that I noticed that through the esses and before the chicane everybody was eating me alive while I was standing still with my racing boot in my...mouth.
In anycase. Back to the action. Had a blast with Dennis but then on lap 5 or 6 I spun her like a drunken salsa dancer into the barriers: right foot sensitivity of an elephant, dumb mistake, car destroyed. Pick up the chase but I was kind of dazed by the sheer volume of the stupidity-- remember, after all, that I wrote the yet-unpublished book on "How To Outpsych Yourself In Sports To Earn The Mockery Of Friends And Foes Alike". So I spent a few laps drowning my miserable intellect with a running questionaire that seemed to center on self-flagellation and the meaning of the word idiot. Which prompted me to make my second grand mistake of the evening at Turn One, where once again I went spinning and lost a ton of positions for good measure. When I finally recovered I just raced to the end, ironically with a good pitstop strategy for once. Oh well. Great race and congrats to the podium.
I too am looking forward the E21 fun run at the Nordschleife-- it's going to be awesome, sign up!

I had a blast at this race and this track and these cars.

Was lucky to get the pole and with a decent start I managed to keep the lead for some laps but had to really defend my posistion from Samuel. He finally had a run on going into the boot and I had to let him go. Great pass I might add. Nothing I could do about it. 2 turns later sadly I get to report yet another STUPID mistake by moving my brake bias a little too far to the rear when it locked up the rears and around she came handing the posistion to Heinz. Now Kevin B was right behind me but managed to pull away little by little and didn't have much racing after that and brought it home in 3rd.

Congrats Samuel and Heinz filling the rest of the podium.

EDIT: After watching the replay I must say that Kevin was never further that 6-8 seconds back for a long time. Didn't realize that. That's less than one little mistake behind! Good job Kevin

Very nice fun run , enjoyed the race a lot. Some good close driving by Barry in the early laps and some excellent defending. One or two very nice blocks and couldn't do anything but to back off and try again later ,text book stuff from Barry :).
Finally after about 6 laps of hard racing ,i managed to slip through and build a small gap before the early pitstop. Plan was to charge with light car and get some gap , then just fuel up and hopefully get back in track before too many drivers get ahead of me.
My inlap(s) and outlap(s) were a bit sloppy thou and thought that i've lost the lead after pitstops had cycled through, but ended up in front and managed to build some more gap before the end.

Nice chase from Heinz kept the race alive and interesting , congratulations for the 2nd place , well done Barry too for the 3rd place , excellent fight.
