GT3 Cup

Well that 3rd place was more luck than anything else.Started from 7th on the grid & by the first corner a couple of fellas came together which let me slip into 5th & then not long after that there were 2 frozen cars on the track which I avoided at the last second which saw me into 3rd.From then on had a titanic battle with Allen which saw him get by me once only for me to sneek by again when he had a moment.He then hunted me down with superior speed but had run out of time when he caught me on the final lap--well done mate,very close.

Quali was great for me. No practice at all. Just took Tristan's GT3 Cup setup and tweaked a little the toe front and lock and it was good for me. Worked great. In T2 braked late and got into the sand a little just to allow Pete to pass me. And from there on I was on his tail for quite a while and almost got him in T2 under braking but he was on the inside and I couldn't do anything. I made a little mistake and he got about 2 seconds ahead and then had a little incident with Daniel (he almost served me a Verstappen-Montoya Brasil incident) but I saw in my mirror that he braked laaaate and I didn't follow the normal line cause he would just fly through me and managed to escape :D
Lost about 2 seconds there too. So that was the gap at the end.
Nice battle though.

8th place in the end, after qualifying 13th (poorly) and spinning twice to the infield at Turn 2. For my best result in Touring Cars, I have to be very happy.

There was some really good close racing going on in the early stages - especially with Matt Willoughby. We actually touched three times in the race, once as I think he locked up under braking (there's a big tyre mark on the track in the replay as he moved across the road) and the car moved right and into my path in the braking zone for a left hander, leaving slight damage but we both stayed in position and hardly lost time. The next time we touched was as I braked down the inside after slipstreaming down the straight - we were side by side into Turn two, Matt left just enough room - but we touched cars side to side as he squeezed me a bit more - I spun into the infield and dropped to P14. No complaints, just tough racing. In car I thought I'd lost it on my own, but the replay confirmed contact door to door. Later on I caught Matt up and there must have been an incident - Matt rejoined and I went down the inside at the Karusell and was ahead, but touched the kerb which flicked my rear out a bit - this tapped Matt, but he was on my tail straight away battling on!

Cars went off ahead of me and I gained places, then Phil Perkins started to catch me (for 10th) - rather than take him on at the mid race point I moved over and let him go as he was clearly quicker at that point. The tactic paid off as a couple of laps later the driver in P9 lost it on the kerb and hit Phil - they both spun - I managed to choose the right line and drove through the carnage (see screenshot). I pushed hard from then on trying to keep a good pace. Maurice Claessen had spun earlier giving me 8th, and that's when I lost it into Turn 2 onto the infield (think I changed down too quick and locked the wheels). I regained quickly and started to chase him down. On the last lap I was catching him quite quickly and guessed he may be in fuel trouble, as we went into the Karusell (me on his tail) with only one more corner to go he peeled off into the pits - I beat him to the line by around 3 seconds to take P8. Maurice confirmed it was actually tyre trouble, and he got out of the way as I loomed in his mirror!

Thanks to Pete for his advice earlier online - it led to me putting Hard rears on instead of Mediums, and they were good all race. First event at Anderstorp for me, and these cars (being so equal) led to some exhilerating racing. Congrats to all who took part.

Andy Graydon - sorry about the incident at the 307.000 mark on the replay. I reviewed the replay, and I moved offline then back on going into the turn. I'll try to run a cleaner line next time.

I have alot to learn... But man that was fun!

Bah! Disco'd while in a healthy 3rd.

Well the qualy was pretty good and did a personal best time which was 4 seconds quicker then I had gone in the GT3 before and was able to start next to my team mate Phil Perkins.

Also had a decent start and took it easy going into the first couple of turns trying to avoid the others and getting a penalty. So after that I was doing quite good and was able to follow the runners in front of me when I made some mistakes trying to push harder then I could and went offtrack when Phil passed me. I tried to follow him but made a few extra errors after that and on lap 5 or so I was hit on the back which launched me into the gravel and I had to climb out on almost last position. (Not sure if the person who tapped me served his drive-thru penalty, have to check the replay).

But after that I tried to keep it together and was challenging Matt Willougby but he was braking earlier than I expected and nearly hit him a couple of times. But not late after that he braked about 5 meters earlier going into Sector 3 and I couldn't avoid contact. Served my penalty as I was totaly to blame there and tried to fight back to get that position which I eventually got in the end.

I think my tire choice was the wrong one for the race as they were totaly gone 6 laps before the end.

@Cristi.. I thought the same thing when I hit the brakes there... I thought O NO, this is gonna hurt. Luckily you saw me and we could avoid contact, I didn't know why it happened though as I thought I braked a little earlier then on my other laps, but could have possibly been the bad state of my tires and not completely driving on the racing line.

I have taken a look at the replay. That would have been me Daniel. Sorry for that, but it wasn't a punt so no d/t necessary.

My front tires were past your passenger door at the time of the incident, but you tried to squeeze me. I reacted by steering towards the curb some more, getting loose a bit. That's how the tap happened. Again, sorry, but not everything is called a punt :)

That's why I said I needed to take a look at the replay just, but from my view you were still in my rear view.

And I never said it was a punt it was a tap/hit, I tried to leave some room and never thought you would go through with the action there.

Yes, but you were talking about a drivethrough, which is the penalty for a punt. That's why I thought you meant it was. Sorry if I misunderstood.

Anyway, still regret it happened. When we turned into the corner I lost you from my view for a second, which lead me to think I actually passed you. But then I saw you appearing spinning into my view again.

Yes I did mention a drive-thru penalty but also that I needed to review the replay, because I wasn't sure what and how it happened exactly.

I might have put the wrong phrase in my earlier post, or expressed it in the wrong way.
