Portland Grand Prix

Got to be the shitest track ever, never again.....

Edit-wheres my manners, Grats to Jon, nick and steve. Thanks to allen who stop and tried to push me off the kerb i was beached on.

Agree on the track Brian i didnt like it either.

Quali did ok still not close to what i could have done maybe i was pushing to hard but P4 was what i got and was happy with it.

Race got away ok and held position in 4th was close behind 3rd so just wanted to hold station for a few laps noticed Allen had gone off in final turn which promoted me to 3rd but i tapped the rear of P2 into T1 and decided best do a D/T which from then on was a damage limitation race. Came out from my last stop P6 some 35 seconds down the road from Dennis C in 5th so set about catching him and another couple of laps and i would have had and passed him was easily catching 2-3 secs per lap towards the end.

Enjoyed my 1st race in these car they can be a handful at times which is fun but i put that down to this horrid track.

Well I liked it a lot more than last time we were here, but agreed the kerbs really should not be getting cars stuck as they have tonight and previously.

Knew I had better pace than shown by finishing 9th place in qual, and with some luck coming my way had a relatively easy run to the flag in second, concentration nearly giving way towards the end but happy to finish.

Gratz to Jon, and thanks for the setup, quality run tonight, and unlucky to my teamies caught out on the kerbs.

I'm knackered lol!

I always think that Vanport has the feel of a street circuit to it. It doesn't undulate a great deal, but it is very bumpy and the slightest mistake with the curbs or the walls will be punished. I quite enjoy it to be honest, it's very challenging and requires a stable setup. I was hoping that this would be the 3rd time lucky for me in the CCWS cars. I have a habit of crashing here.

Qualifying didn't go as well as I had hoped. I knew that I should easily go for the lap record here with a 51.8-51.9 but I just could not get a clean lap in. Every single time I went on a flying lap I got caught out by a slower car. I must apologise to Allen also, before my final attempt I lost my patience and just threw it round the out lap. Allen had been on a flying lap and although not quite in a position to pass he was most definitely in a position to be held up. Sorry mate.

Race went brilliantly. I wasn't aware that I was driving particularly quickly on the formation lap so I will make a point of keeping a closer eye on the speedo next time, sorry to anyone whom was adversely affected.

I managed to put a gap between me and Allen early on and then he seemed to drop away very quickly. From that point on I just got my head down and set about work. I was driving fairly conservatively, easy on the brakes, tires and engine. My fuel consumption was about on target and my strategy looked good. As mentioned, this place is like a street circuit so the most difficult aspect was keeping the concentration up! Fortunately, the lapped cars did (in the main) a great job. A couple of times I would have someone lift mid-corner or even on the exit of the corner but fortunately I was each time able to take evasive action.

Congrats to Nick and Steve, and I believe if you check out the standings the QuickMusik/Pinnacle alliance is doing very well!

First race in these for me and enjoyed challenge. However I also got stuck on the kerbs and ended up blowing the engine. Not the best.

This was one of the worst races in my R2P career, the qualyfing was very good and I drove a PB and got into 6th. Took it careful on the formation lap and the first lap into the race, didn't want too push too much and lose the car straight away..

I noticed some of the guy's in front had a few little problems and suddenly I was in 4th and the car felt really good and I tried to increase the pace a little but that was a stupid idea as I spun on the last corner and hit the wall on the pit entry with my rear tire.

Did a pitstop to ensure the damage wasn't too big but somehow they didn't need to change anything and topped the fuel to my starting level. Then I pushed to get back into the race and try and gain some places, drove pretty well but I misjudged my braking poing into turn 1 and my front wing was damaged after that small hit (not sure who I tapped on the rear wheel) but I saw he was still driving out of the chicane and didn't seem to have any problems. But I had a big problem under braking and steering, the car never was the same again.. Although I tried to push as hard as I could my pitcrew let me down very very much as from my second stop onwards I never got more then 20 liters of fuel per stop.

Had to come in every 5 laps or so from lap 63 and after, I managed to finish this first race for me in the CCWS and quite happy with the pace I was able to do, all I need now is more consistancy and better attention to the braking.

This series this season is to late in the day for me,
but I got an ok from the girlfriend to run today.
I think this track is perfect for this mod, Love
running here with these cars. Curbs and walls keep you
honest. Congrats podium and very nice drive Jon.
