Brands Hatch Challenge #2

Made a decent start from 8th on the reverse grid to get up to 4th at the end of lap 1. Then into Paddock Hill, it almost went horribly wrong for the OTHR drivers. Martin got a little tap on Garry, who slid sideways right in front of me. I managed to avoid hitting him, though I did get a small tap on Martin. Amazingly, all recovered with little loss and I made it up to 2nd. Chased Anthony for some laps until he made a small error at Stirlings and I was able to get a run & make the pass.

This Race I was able to start from 10th place and I wanted to finish in the points this time, when I failed to do so in the first race.

My start was very good and I gained a position in the first corner, but then in the second turn everybody went very very slow and I slammed the brakes but the car was still in 2nd gear and it didn't slow down enough and I hit somebody on the back. I hoped it wouldn't be that bad because it wasn't very hard, but then it actually amazed me how easily his car spun eventhough the tap wasn't really hard. So my great start was down the drain and I had to take the penalty, I decided to do it straight away and lose as little time as possible.

Luckily my car was still OK, only some small dents in the bumper and I pushed as hard as I could and catch up. Again I was able to catch a few people and overtake them, some went offtrack and some I passed on the track. A few laps before the finish I was in 9th and I saw Matt in front of me and I was gaining on him so I went for it and we battled out the last lap together only for him to take the last point of the race and leaving me behind in the smallest gap I have ever been in on the finish, only 0.5 seconds.

Great races guy's really going to attend the next ones too.

That was me you tapped and spun going into the hairpin Daniel, no problems mate at least you done your drive through which is more than can be said to the fool that stupidly tried to pass me at the first fast right hander after you leave the indy circuit and onto the gp track. How he thought he was going to pass there i will never know and it resulted in the only conclusion possible which me being punted into the barriers. Fortunately for me i only received suspension damage (which was still drivable) and not the loss of a wheel or splitter. That will teach me for giving him room when he ran a bit wide the previous corner which allowed me to overtake him...

Offcourse I did my penalty, the only one who could be blaimed there was me for the touch... I felt so stupid as it cost you a lot of positions and it cost me a possible 6th or 7th in the race.

What kind of speed where you doing there by the way, at the moment when I touched you??

Not as fast as any other lap but that corner is particularly hazardous on the 1st lap when everyone is so close with cold brakes so i was being a tad cautious like most, i wasn't going to dive in there risk tapping someone myself. Anyway bad luck mate, maybe a lesson learned :)

EDIT-looking at pete's post there was some taps and slides up the front so that probably slowed everyone up a bit more than usual.

Yeah that must be the problem then because I was way slower then in the first race.. but next time I will try and stay out of everybody's way
