Ran out of fuel. Lesson learned. Check lap count for race, that changed from 3 to 5. And learn where pit enterance is.

Thank you to everyone who participated!! Ahhhhh man this was fun. I was attacking at 9.9/10ths the whole way, just really caning it as best as I could. Sideways in the karussel was a new one to me!

I've never driven something with wings before on the Ring, so what a treat this was. A real challenge... Thank you Tim for allowing and hosting this fun-run!!

Fantastic event! I'm with Tristan. I've never driven an open top at the ring. I couldn't push it the entire way, just didn't have enough in the sack.

It is difficult to describe the thrill when you keep it full throttle from Quiddelbacher, through Flugpatz all the way until late braking at Aremberg. Wow. Something else that will send your stomach to your throat is keeping full throttle through Pflanzgarten I and catching air as you crest the top of the hill and head towards Pflanzgarten II. Yes, catching air.

Fun event. I wish there was a replay for some screenies.

Short one for me. Went in blind with no practice, and worked on my setup during Q, happy that the no-esc rule was waived. This was my first look at GTR Evo, and I hope it works better than it did here; had major stuttering.

Managed to squeeze two full laps out of Q and gridded 6th, which is where I was running comfortably and looking for a way around 5th when he lost it in the superfast left up at the top end of Kesselchen approaching Klostertal. Right side looked clear so I tried to thread past, but he ricocheted back across into my path. Slammed into him and then the car behind me cascaded into both of us. Boom; radio says,"damage is not repairable". Bit of an understatement... ;-)

Grats to the podium, er, I mean survivors. You want screenies Garret? We gots.

For some reason I thought this was an "Exhibiton" event, not independent, so another DNF to the stats. lol

Anyways, I was having fun until my engine let go...Was fighting for 1 1/2 lap with Brand W. and Gary H and we traded places a few times, and it was fun being so close to the walls and to the cars... I used the default set for this car and Rad was at 3 and RPM's 9100... What were you guys running? I did not think with a Rad 3 that the engine would expire.... Nevertheless it was really fun...

Had enough fuel for 6 laps, but crossed the finish line to do my last lap (about 9 secs behind Garret) and there was no way I'd finish the lap wit only 6 litres left so I bailed.

Perhaps I've been doing too much iRacing, but these F3000 cars feel about as realistic as GWB's economic rescue plan.

I took some of Tim's advice and increased the speed sensitive steering which helped a little, but still left much to be desired. I had great hopes for GTR Evo, but now I'm beginning to doubt...

Well, my 1st. Impressions...is... I'm not impressed... Spent about 30 minutes trying to map buttons, the UI is just plain slow and bad, it takes about 15 secs. for a signal to be acknowledged... Then had major FPS issues during practice, dropped so bad that I thought I was going to disco... Then I tried to escape and it would not let me...So, I'm not impressed for this $20.00 USD mod to Race-07...But the racing itself was fun...

I for one enjoyed the race, but clearly wasn't as observant as Rob.

I know some of my problems during the race came from a decidedly lower frame rate than even during qualy, which was odd, but I seemed incapable of pushing like before. Flugplatz didn't give me a problem, but oddly places like Metzgesfeld and Kesslchen gave me serious commitment issues.

I was chasing Rob, basically the whole race and he was definitely faster, but it was normally a tenth here and there that started to add up... until these corners where I would lose as much as 2 seconds for lifting early, or at all depending on the corner. I went and did another lap right after the race to see what was going on and sure enough, my first and only lap was at least 3 seconds faster than my qualy, but in race trim. Need more balls in actual races I guess.

Anyway, I kept myself alive until the last lap, but running down Dottinger-Hohe I noticed I was about to run out of fuel. I did what I could to conserve, but that was it, ran out maybe 5 corners from the end.

Admittedly, I haven't done racing in a few months since my DFP decided to die, so I didn't really have anything I was used to, but it felt fine to me. Definitely a little easier than some of the games and mods I had run before, but a lot of that was simple transmission. I knew when to react based on feedback, it wasn't instantaneous spinnage. It felt like the transition from GTR to GTR2, 2 was easier but honestly felt more like driving a real car. That said, I've never driven a formula car in real life so I don't really have much to compare it to.

Hmmm. You guys are kinda quick to criticize I think. But, it's your opinion, and I respect that.

For starters, this car/track combo is not what you should base your criticism on. The cars were not meant to run on tracks like this. If you try them on, say, Brands Hatch or Valencia, I feel you may change your mind. Honest. :D Try a GT-P or GT-S car. Pretty sweet imo.

Secondly, I think everyone agrees that the UI completely sucks ass. I too was in hopes they would make some attempt to make changes, but all they did was make it prettier. :( Playstation anyone?

@Omar. To Esc out, you'll need to hold the Esc key for 1 second. Tapping it will delete an in-car message if you decide to not display it. Hold it to go back to garage.

The FPS issue was also in Race 07. Heavy on systems and I didn't expect anything different with Evo. Just gotta massage it until you get a happy medium. As you know, shadows are the main culprit. I'm sure you have a decent PC. You just seem that kind of guy. :)

@Rob. Not sure what that's about. I put in 2 clicks down from 6 laps worth (a long 5 laps) and finished with 7 liters, so I have no clue what happened there. Heavier wing maybe? I used a quite low wing settings (6-10), and didn't push my pace at all, so that's the only thing I can think of.
