rFBMW: Kyalami '79

Congrats winners.

Sad evening for me as I felt I could've done much more than final P14.

At qualy I forgot to unload fuel and went out with a full tank, only making possible a not so bad P16 for me.

I did a good start and by mid lap I was in P8 between Brian and Jack after avoiding the first turn spins. Decided not to get too pressed by faster drivers and kept to my raceline, but Jack passed and I dropped to P9 behind Brian and Jack, then some guys must've spun in front as we three climbed a couple places each. Good, P7.

We approached Aleksandr and I gained back one position to Brian, did some meters side by side until I managed to get past him. P6, not bad.

Then Jack went wide and gave me P5, pressure was growing bigger but I wouldn't let it affect me. Alenksandr also went wide in front of me, P4. Wow, this is getting exciting.

Next half lap and I see Robert must've had a small spin and is recovering from the left hand side at low speed and to the right into the raceline to turn 5. This is gonna be tight... passed without touching him, P3. Yes!

But in that move I had to slightly modify my raceline and at the exit of that turn I oversteered and crashed, having fair steering problems. Robert recovered P3 and Aleksandr was coming fast. Well, at least I still have P4.

I thought I'd do one more turn to see how the car handles before deciding to pit. At the main straight, my car was loosy at the bumps and I placed myself behind Robert. Aleksandr lined up to my right side and slightly tapped me, I lost it and hit the right wall, rebound crossing the track and back to the left side wall.

I had to let all the other cars go by and drop to P10. Then I crawled to pits to make a long repair: 138 secs. and back to track at P17. There's nothing else to do but try to finish in a decent position.

Finally, P14 that feels much too little after being in top 10 for quite a few laps.

Well, move on to next one, this is Sparta (I mean... racing).

Sorry to anyones race i ruined dont know what happened just noticed my ping had gone through the roof car was all over the place so decided to quit.

Forgive me while I get rid of some of my frustrations in the only way I can here:

OK, I feel better now. Well, not really .. AGAIN I was really looking forward to a race. AGAIN I put in the effort. AGAIN I had decent pace. So why do I bother?

Got punted off in lap1 t2. Lotsa damage. Went off next corner while trying to sort out the pit stuff and having no front wing, and then when entering pits still trying to sort out pit stuff forgot about speed limit. Grrrrrrr
Came out after that dtp, and promptly thumped Colin properly who had spun. Sorry Colin, tried avoiding you but it was too late. I wasn't gonna pit again, the first pitstop took 97 secs to repair damage. Esc. Game over. I give up. OK?

Then there are cars that pop in and outta the game. Warping? Very disconcerting, expecially when they are right in your space.

Nick, I need a replay. Can someone post one somewhere? Please? Pretty pleeez?

My wierdest race at R2P. Got a decent start and had a good run but got alot of lagg and cars in front were moving around alot so dropped back to avoiding whacking anyone then got tangled up in the mess at turn 1 which broke something in the back of the car.

Once I'd pitted I came back out in 20th place but managed to quite quickly get past the group battling for 3rd and as other people dropped out I managed to get closer towards the single digit places. My timing screen was all over the place and didnt have a clue the real distance between me and the next guy but eventually managed to get 9th at the end.

Ok I have had a look at T1 from a whole load of cars and angles, and will ask the other admins to review, but personally feel that this was a racing incident which unfortunately happened to be between the front three drivers, hence causing mayhem behind.

Very sorry for all those involved but was one of those racing things in this case. (To be confirmed once other admins have reviewed) However anything you specifically wish me to review please PM asap.

My race, well, happy with second, although cost myself the potential of the win by spinning out of T2 with Sam hot on my tail. Decided to finish off with no front wing as I have done that before and this track really did not need it. Might have had the pace to hold on but we will now never know.

Good job Sam saw you coming back to me at the end but could see you were counting down the clock to not have to do a further lap.

Sure we shall see some more piccies of T1 soon.

Crappy race, had a good fight with Franciso and Bryan, but half-spun. Then I had a big spin, giving me a flat tyre and no front wing, then to top it off, when I put the brakes on to slow down for the pits, it veered me onto the grass and wedged me into the pit entry. Not good!

Well done to the winners.

Oh and sorry to the guy in the black car (dunno name) who I hit at T1, everyone slammed their brakes on and I couldn't avoid.

Again sorry if i affected anyone with the warping seems my connection has gone real slow for some reason :( Felt i had good pace here but disaster struck in quali when my screen froze for about 6 seconds then my gfx were all a mess and track was multi coloured and couldnt really see where i was going. then the race just messed up with my high ping did 3 laps i think then calleed it a day as the car was undriveable anyway.

Oh well onto F1 on Sunday for me cya next week guys hopefully my connection will be better.

Very interesting race is all i can say. I had a horrible Q and started 14th. At the first turn i got caught up in the big crash and was hit several times causing lots of damage to my car. Because of this i was about a second slower then i was in practice. From that point work on running a clean race and got myself up to 4th. I was then gaining on the third place car and i know I could have passed him but i ended up spinning the car and loosing 2 places. Just kept it clean from that point on and ended in 4th. The only thing that its hard to take is that one of the cars that passed me when i spun was 5 seconds behind me at the time and that car finished 3rd. So looking back if i wouldn't have spun i would have finished 3rd :( oh well though still very happy to come away with a 4th place finish.

I got some awful freezes during Quali so was only able to grab 15th.

At the start I was involved in that chaos, not sure what happened because I got more freezes! Me, Nuno and Zak had a close battle, but it ended on about lap 5 or 6, when something happened at T5. Colin spun off and went into the wall, I came around and there were about 3 cars on the track, and a lot of smoke. I tried avoiding, but hit colin and lost my front wing.

I could've carried on, but I locked my brakes a few corners later, and damaged my suspension so I had to pit. Then I had to serve a Drive-Through for speeding. Oops!

Not sure if I overtook Antonio, but I ended up ahead of him and opened the gap. Ahead was Justus, and we were trading lap times, so I never really caught up.

A strong result, and a great race. Good job on the win Sam, and the rest of the finishers.

I also want to thank Phil Perkins, who gave me his great setup and guidance during practice.
