Open Wheel Championship

Really happy with this result. Not completely satisfied how the end of the race went though.

Heinz got on my tail about 25 laps before the end. He had a run on me on the straights, but I could hold him off in most of the corners. Eventually he bumped me in the left rear in the braking zone in T1, making my car unstable which allowed him to get by. Not happy about that to say the least.....Took it easy for about 10 laps because my left rear suspension was damaged and the car was pushing slightly. I did some practice with a damaged car in case I would need it in race, so I didn't lose too much time. About 6 laps before the end he made a mistake and spun giving me back first again. Luckily.....

Horrible...by a long way the worst race I've had in my simracing "career" and one I'll be forgetting all about as soon as possible.

Was enjoying the first 10 laps, in P10 which I'd hoped for, then with no warning, the screen locks up and the same 1second of engine note keeps playing, keyboard doesn't do anything, couldn't even esc out. It came back 30s later as though nothing had happened, hope that didn't cause anyone else a problem.

Concentration was shot then and leaders were already coming round to lap me. Span and got some damage and then some more, did about 150mph in the pitlane and got a stop/go at one point...mainly I just tried to stay out of people's way (sorry if I caused anyone any bother, don't think so though).

Eventually I had to give up for safety reasons and instead watched the leaders on their last 5 laps while parked up behind Francesco, which was much more entertaining than any more driving (unlucky Heinz).

Francesco, I think I pinched you into the wall when I was racing with you. There was a car with identical colours to yours right behind me and I wrongly thought you had backed off. Sorry about that, probably didn't make your day any easier.

That was just ugly, after a bad qual effort things just fot worse and worse. After 2 spins losing a total of four positions and struggling just to do clean laps I nosed it into the wall and said thats enough for me.

I am with Richard on this one: by FAR the worst race of my sim racing career. I don't think the Keystone cops could have managed a more pathetic display. Note to self: when you don't have a good feeling about a race, and you don't enjoy the combo of track and car, do not show up just because you are in a championship. Second note to self: LB and champcars do weird tricks with my PC, freezing frames, lockups, horrible stuff. I did not learn from the last time I was here with these cars.
I blew up during qualy, lining up second to last, only because the last driver did not put a qualy lap!
Somewhere on the second or third lap (I think) there was mayhem after the backstretch and I got a lot of damage there-- however, for good measure, I also managed to hit the walls more often than a drunk in a telephone booth. Sad display. Repaired twice in the pits over 55 seconds. Car was never drivable, and in the middle I had lockups and once managed to mess up Allen. After a while, I decided to park it and just come up for the last lap. Which I did. Managing to speed in the pit lane!! Gotta drive through but accidentally pitted again and repaired damages on the last lap!!!
Congrats to all who survived this place.

All in all an enjoyable race, though in hindsight my backseat driver is nagging me ... Don't make me stop this postrace and come back there, mister!

Friday testing on fuel loads left me believing I could run mid- to upper-1:02s for maybe three-quarters of the race laps, but I just wasn't consistently focused enough to pull it off today and ran mostly low-1:03s. And in the effort to force those 1:02s I pushed myself into a couple spins (though thankfully kept off the wall both times).

Then on my second pit stop I got caught speeding in pit lane and was given a drive-through. Bother.

I don't know if it would've netted me any more positions, but felt the opportunity to do better was mine today and I didn't meet it, so that's on me.

There wasn't anything wrong with the race, though. Went side-by-side into Turn 1 a few times with everyone minding their manners. No issues with lap cars, though one time I, uh, "nudged" Steve Brunell (sorry!) ... Fortunately it wasn't hard enough to cause me damage or Steve to lose it.

Nice race all. I enjoyed it. On to the next round!

Well, I arrived home at 11:29 and was able to make it into the warmups with 20 seconds remaining. First time I ever started from last place. :) I was turning mid 1:33's in practice this morning, but I could not get close to that during the race. I had a battle with Omar that ended badly and I took damage, slowing me down further. But it was fun. I prefer more wide open tracks with these cars though. See everyone at Spa.

Qualified a good 4th, car felt great.

Starting to settle down in race, felt comfortable even with Heinz behind and then on about lap 4 or 5 "connection lost"

Well, I did use the scrubs and was funny that these tires had less grip at the beginning than the "Stickers"... I was in front of Ryan R. most of the time, pitted and came back in front of him again, but with cold tires I was loosing the time I had gained...R. Robbins and I were battling for like 7 or 8 laps, both were making almost the same lap times and I was sliding because I was trying to stay in front, on lap 34 or so, he hit the wall in T-1, 2 laps later he was tooo close and I almost spun in T-5, he barely touched my gearbox and he spun, but in the process with the contact he straighten me out again...Little damage, but the car was fine...

AS for the damage i gave you, please accept this was 100% non-intentional, I did not even realise i tapped you, as i recieved no damage to my car, making me unaware of any contact.
You must understand the fragile nature of these cars at 182 mph with no air pushing down on my wings, I almost lost the car under your slipstream to begin with, when i pulled out of it to make the pass, the car was nervous and i was fighting to keep it under control, after lookin at the replay, this is the point where i make contact with you, and before i veiwed the replay, i thought your juke to the left to be hostile and moved left very quickly as i was afraid we were too close to each other and anything could have gone wrong... after seeing the replay, your juke left was not hostile and due to me tapping you, for that i apologise, but i was completely unaware that i did .. 182mph... it was all too quick!

Otherwise, without the tap, i would have called that the pass of my career, but its not to be... Screwed up later trying to get passed Dennis, i was on a different line into T1 and the car spun out because i was unfimiliar with where i was putting my car on the track.. paid the price, lost the race.

But .. on a good note .. i had an absolute blast!! MAgnificent race
