Intro to GTR2-Enduro (GT/nGT)

My apologies to all. This was my first r2p race but there was no excuse for my rear ending the guy in the bimmer during qualifying or for chatting during qualifying (yes I did read and understood the regs). I guess the best thing that could have happened was my internet connection was lost and I was unable to reconnect. Currently checking internet connection and promise to play nice :-) Again so sorry.

Engine blew up on my lap 24.

Outstanding pace by Sir Pete of Bunce for such a ... erm ... mature gentleman. Grats!

Had to keep stay awake and aware whole race as Mr. Schulze was pushing hard. Also getting lapped by GT cars gave their spice to the soup as well. Generally OK race. I'm starting to like this Porker.

That was retarded. I qualified 2nd and on the pace lap accidentally hit my ignition. I couldn't restart the car until I came to a complete stop. I tried everything. By the time I got going again, a bunch of cars had passed me and we raced to catch up to the field. I battled with Enzo and Jerry for the first stint. Nothing dramatic, but not my finest hour. The second stint went much better and I picked off a few guys to get on the podium. However, I did run out of fuel coming out of Rivazza on the last lap and sputtered across the line. Oh well, chalk that one up to stupidity. Nice race all.

Oh, and happy holidays! I'll be gone til next Saturday. Don't burn the place down while I'm gone.

Struck down by the racing gods as I picked up a puncture when I smacked someone in Tossa with only three or so laps to go. Didn't mean to DNF, but accidentally hit escape while in the pits. User error! I'll tape a 'do-not-touch' sign there before my next race.

Upon further review of the replay, the 911 I ran into was turning around - in traffic - to recover from getting spun by the guy I was chasing for fifth.

Just a matter of everyone really wanting to win - which I have to say I have been guilty of from time to time as well.

We'll see you all on the track in a few weeks.

Congrats to Sam, Pete, and Fernando. I am still getting use the how the vette reacts to setup changes and how to setup for the long run; learned a lot today.

Started nice and smooth, I wasn't that comfortable so I let a few guys get by me and as we began to spread out I started running more consistant lap times. This old MSFF i use only allows me to use about half the gas pedal and some times double shifts which bit me going into the last two corners midway through the first run. I was able to over come that and was 6th or 7th going into the first pit stops and by the time they were over with I was in 5th.

David Fish was about 6 secs or so in front of my and 6th place was some 10 seconds behind me so I just tried to concentrate on running consistant laps. I began to slowly catch David as we caught lapped traffic with about 20min to go. After the lapped traffic I was 2.8 sec behind and 6th place must of had some trouble because he was about 24 seconds behind at this point.

With about 15min to go the track ahead was clear and I heard David say, "Ok Smith lets see what you got." I tried to not make any mistakes and was slowly catching him, really waiting for David to make a mistake, but my motor wouldn't last that long. With 2 1/2 min remaining in the race it poped and my chances of getting a 4th place were over... Hopefully Ill do better next race.
Good job to all, as far as I saw there weren't many wrecks due to different class cars trying to pass each other.

That was ... interesting.

Picked a Michellin RS for GT-I, so took this opportunity to see how the Michellins fare under heavy use.

Start went well, just following the train of cars until about 5 or so laps in, the game froze on me. Hard lock, screen, sound, wheel all just locked up. Sat there for about 30 seconds, with the frozen image of track in front of me. When it came back, I was in the grass, and had lost 3 or so places. Weird. Wasn't connection related, and this has happened once before, but offline.

Anyway, had good dicing with Adriano again, Prancing Horse vs Stuttgart. ;) Got very hairy when the train of GT cars started lapping me and Adriano, while the two of us were fighting each other. We were door to door going down to Rivazza when a train of GT guys got a little impatient and split the two of us left AND right. Scared the crapola out of me! :D

We both pitted on same lap, decided to do a little experimenting, and left the rears on. They showed 11% wear, so figured they could make it the distance. Bonus in that I would beat Adriano out of the pits. Doh! Big mistake. 11% wear on rears with full fuel quickly turned the 996 into a fully Swedish rally prepped Suby WRX car. Serious tail sliding through every corner, on or off the gas. heh. Lesson learned. Great fun guys.

think i left most of pace in practice,q was hard could'nt get a clean run,but it does add a bit of spice,race was pretty uneventful,a few of the gt cars were a bit harsh in there passes,steady battle with adriano and after pits he came out in front,running same pace,then got tagged by a gt in the hairpin,engine blew lap after this :-( grats to winners and finishers.
