Intro to V8 Supercars

Another gem of a race tonight. Qualified well, got a good start. Was running in second for most of the first stint, then got a drive-through penalty on my first stop. I was definitely below the limit where the red line started, so apparently it's further up than that. After the drive-through, I make some mistakes out of frustration, had a hell of a time getting past Jerry, and also had a terrible time with lapped traffic. Oh well. First time in these cars. Definitely like them.

Well, that was fun! Couldn't qualify that well due to traffic, but made up three spots in the first couple of corners(!) and got into the lead on the next lap. From there I was just concentrating on keeping it pointed straight, still managed to spin once though :P.

Extended my lead through a nice quick pitstop, 2 tyres and no fuel, and when I decided the gap was big enough, put the foot down a bit to nail some quick laps. Managed to break into the 1:40s, which I was pleased with.

Great stuff. Not much happened early on, but as the pit stops cycled through, noticed Adriano getting a stop and go, which shuffled him back to where I was.

I did everything humanly possible to keep him behind me, running the inside line on all the slow corners, goosing it hard coming out of corners. Adriano finally got by with a sweet move going into turn 1, on the outside.

This track also makes for some great screenshots. The skyline looks very cool.

Sorry, wrong race

Ironically one of the worst tracks to photograph. In reality there's almost no shot with the city skyline in the background, you can't get to most of the first half, and about all you're left with is the turn 1-2-3 compex, the hairpin, and the pits. I loved going to the city, but I'm not going to miss the track next year. Mont Tremblant, for what it lacks in facilities, certainly makes up for it in photographability.
