Magny-Cours (GTC-65)

Im pleased with the results that I got. I was only hoping for a top-8, so 6th is a bonus. I could have challenged Jay for 5th if I hadnt run out of fuel!!! The guage still read a quarter tank, but started sputtering down the long straight (causing me to spin too). I made it to pit lane and ran out just as the AI took over my car. Luckily my stall was the first one so I made it in and suffered through a 18 second stop to add the 4 gallons (gas man must have fallen or something). Still... not bad

Well, that was fun. I qualified on pole, time was 1:06.4, not very quick, but enough.

Race started pretty good actually, I was getting away from CJ 0.8-1.5 s per lap, it was all nice till lap11. On the front straight something happened between Pete's Elan and one Vette, I was behind, and all of the sudden I hit something invisible, and few secs later I saw Elan in the fence. Nothing I could've done about that.

Nevertheless I lost all advantage to CJ, and droppen to 2nd. Took me 2-3 laps to overtake him and it was all peachy after that. Pitted really fast, got out with significant advantage and cruised for the last 6 laps.

I got pole, fastest lap and win, it's much fun!

Im pretty surprised i finished 3rd, even with such a pig of a car. I had very few laps to begin with but caught on quickly and managed a modest 6th starting spot after qualifying.

The start of the race was again, pretty modest. Jumped up one position and started battling with Tommy and Dan a bit. At one point, i caught Tommy at the end of the long straight going into Adelaide and thought i was going to make it through with the position but his light-ass car beat me through the quick right-left handers :). That point on i started becoming slower and Dean crept in closer. It seemed like he was having trouble passing me for a while but i knew he was a lot faster so i tried to let him by at Adelaide. Well, neither of us really wanted to make an aggressive move so it took us a while to figure out who would take the position through Adelaide. He finally took it and I fell behind him. Getting closer to pit time, my car started handling like shit and because of it, i made a big mistake through the Adelaide corners. While the car went over the bumps i lost total control and it veeered off to the left and into the wall. That allowed Jay to pass me and take the position. The car was worse now but it wasn't so bad for me to take Jay's position back about a couple laps later. Finally, pit stops came but i refused to repair the car. Luckily, i didn't need the car to be too fast and heavily relied on attrition which allowed to finish in 3rd.

Pretty good race even without much practice. Grats to Enis and cya'll next time :).

That was a pretty lonely race in the Ferrari. The only car that was on a similar pace was a yellow Elan that I spun out trying to stay ahead of. I went off again right before my pit stop and had some damage. Other than that it was pretty much a test session. :)

I had planned on running the TVR here today. However, I couldn't drag my ass out of bed this morning, so I missed the first race, leaving me plenty of points for the GT-40.

Great car. Plus, I do believe I have/had the record here with this car. With no practice and still partly asleep, best I could muster in Qually was 106 something. Not very fast, but good enough for second anyway. Had a terrible start and dropped to 7th right away. Way to go idiot! Managed to work back up to 3rd with Enis and CJ in sight as I pitted so felt I was in good shape. Then I made a bad decision....Saw the pitboard wanted to give me tyres but no fuel???? WTF?? Why does it do that? ( I set it for 25L in garage) So I go to change menu to add fuel...but hit OK instead!! *&%$#$@$#$%&* Here I am watching them change my tires knowing I'm not getting any fuel!!! It's not a good feeling! hehe. So next lap, I have to pit for fuel, and by the time that's done.....I'm back in 7th again. Stupid game. LOL. Had two good battles with Jay in the Vette each time for sixth though. It was really hard to get by you! And following Tommy in the Elan was highly entertaining. I think you had that car in the air more than on the track! Totally awesome! With Enis behind me (almost got lapped!) I managed to claw back up to 4th. Was ready to let you by....but you didn't get close enough bud. Great win though.
Not bad for double -pitting I guess. Perhaps next race I will take all fuel at start and only pit for tires. Hmmm, sounds like a good idea now! Nah, I'll probably forget again.

Had a good time racing this rnd. The lotus elan 26 worked out well for 8th place. Just really under powered compared to the vette's, GT 40's and Cobras out there on the back straight. They would just blow past me like I was in reverse, lol.

I can't believe how much fun it is out here racing with everyone. I don't get to race as much and I would like (away most weekends), but it is a blast when I do get a chance to come out. Great group of drivers.

Ouch, that was interesting in a not so good way, got a good start shoot to P2 and was able to fend of a GT40 on the first lap by going outside into the braking zone at the strait ouch
We were pretty similar on pace for the many next laps. Got P1 as a gift when ED had probs, ok knew it would be impossible to keep him behind since he was pulling away too quickly for my horsepower challenged Lotus, but nonetheless after he got by again I actually felt he slowed me a bit specially in the slow stuff I caught up alot there on him, so I pitted around L15.
Big brainfart then; I was in such a hurry I just hit the enter button strait away, then sitting what felt like forever to listen to the crew do a useless tirechange, should've just have been a quick hello at the box and then off again. Surprised to see I was still P2 tho when I got out and past Tim (what happend there btw, looked like you went off Tim?)
Drove in too much fury then a lap later I clipped the wall onto the S/f strait, cost a puncture on right rear, wasnt too bad car could still keep a good pace back to the pits LOL but layed out a lot of smoke, hope I didnt disturb too many, tried to stay off the line not to cloud the whole scene lol
But then 1 turn from the pit my little white Elan just transformed itself into a huge lightning ball of fire :-o so engine prolly had suffered from that wall impact too. Just couldn't stop laughing at that image, then decided it was best to get dinner going b4 the Oschers enduro run.
Too bad, if not for the pit blunder, think I couldve atleast put some pressure on Enis for the remaining laps.

First, congrats to Enis, Tommy and Conor. Glad my teammate took the 3rd spot I lost due to extreme old age brain fade.
I was really suprised to find myself going from 7th to 3rd at the start - used clutch on wheel button for 1st time. :)
I was even more suprised to find myself holding the position till my pitstop. 8() That's when reality came in. B(
Somehow this old bod was able to drive the car, but the barely functioning brain was unable to remember to adjust the fuel amount before hitting "enter". #$@*@%#*
Sorry to read I wasn't the only one to mess up on the pit stop. After making a second stop for fuel, I only had one "off" after losing concentration due to my going over my stupid mistake in my head. This was a lot of fun anyway, this is why we race, to have fun. :)

Yea Claus, I spun off in front of you because i hadnt pit yet and wasnt going too until I needed fuel. My guage said i still had a quarter tank when you came out of the pits behind me. I realize I was in 2nd, but still had a pit to do so the spot wasnt really for me to hold on to.
But, right at the end of the long straight, the engine burped a few times as it was running on fumes. When I downshifted for the braking zone, there was no "blip" because the car was too low on fuel. So the downshift locked the rear tires and I tried to correct, but still spun. Barely made it back to the pits to keep going... at least I was able to do that.

Not the most productive races points wise, but some great racing none the less....and a pretty spectacular ending!
For the TC65 race, I dusted off the Jag from Sir Pete of Speed Mansions, just hoping to plod round & top up my rental points. Spent most of the race fighting to keep Jay behind me (yet again!). Thanks again, Jay, for another superb clean race.
Elan for the GTC race, along with a host of others! Stuffed up qually & started 8th, then got mugged by a bunch of US muscle and was darn near last at the end of lap one. Swift change of tactics - early stop to grab some clear track. Might have worked but for Donny, who had the same idea! The next 8 laps were a blast - we were trading spots (and paint!) 3 or 4 times a lap. Jerry must've liked that, cos he joined in too.....and Enis! Then on lap 10, Donny's connection dropped and his car froze on the spot. I had nowhere to go but straight over the top - those old vette's make perfect launch ramps! Might've got away with it - the landing was good - except for Enis, who had no chance to avoid me. First I saw sky, then grass....then FLAMES. Crap, I thought, this is gonna be another DNF!
