Malaysian Grand Prix

Sincere apologies to Mike Erickson and Kent Welker, going into T1 all I could see was a cloud of smoke, I locked up my fronts and caught Mike in the side pod, this bounced him straight into Kent. Stupid mistake on my part, sorry.

NP Allen, I will take half the blame on that one, actually we can all blame Tim for all the smoke :P

Saw you go wide and the gap behind on the scoring get big and hoped I could hang on for a podium at least, but not to be.

Enjoyable even if already we appear to be battling the timing system as much as any on track action.

Amazed with 40 signed up for Melbourne at this turn out, it honestly isn't that hard is it?

All of you guys are some damn good drivers. Running with you feels like I'm short a gear or have the parking brake on, lol.

Sorry for being an early braker in the turns. I'm still trying to learn how you guys get on the binders so late and carry so much speed without losing it.

I did manage to keep both wings intact the entire race!

I really enjoyed racing here.

I got a good start and avoided the braking mayhem behind me.

A couple of times, I distracted myself thinking about other things and spun slowly.

Tim had the pace, but his poor luck on the first lap kept us far away.

With the help of Kent's view on how these cars should be set up, I found another healthy chunk of pace in these cars, and i am starting to feel pretty confident about this season.

I hope David and others can make more events! These are such fun to drive.

No biggie Allen, just a racing incident. Strange thing is I passed right through Kents car and kept both wings on! Not sure what it shows in the replay, havent watched it yet. Plus I was able to contiune driving with the damage I did have, not needing to repair it at all. The car may have even actually handled better for me LOL

Thanks Mike, the replay shows you going straight through Kents car, a sort of wierd half sink into it then you sort of jump out of it.

You hang in there Tom, you will improve with practice mate, we all do, cept Tristan whos running away with it already. I guess your gonna have a pretty lonely season Tristan unless you'd like to share your set up thoughts....

I cant say as I'm not surprised by yesterdays turn out, when I saw the top 2 guys running 5 secs faster than me in quali I almost said stuff this, 2 team mates were of the same mind surprisingly, but we all stayed. I wonder how many guys looked at last weeks times and just thought this is way beyond my league...

You guys have to keep in mind there are TWO setups now, and two very different lap times you may see in practice.

One is a race set, which as it turns out I was running 1:35s & 1:36's which were the times I was seeing out of most of you in practice. Even though it was capable of running low 34's, I did not do so in the race. I'd be an idiot to try to hot-lap during a race so my race lap times are always slower then what is seen in practice.

Then there is the "knock qual setup" which is significantly faster; 1:33's because it has no ducting, no radiator, and no fuel.

If you are benchmarking your RACE performance on my knockout qual lap times, prepare to be upset all the time. You have to compare the proper times.

Take a look at the top-4's race lap times. Most are in the 36's. Only fresh tires give us the single lap 1:34 before we fall right back into the 36's.

Work and personal life prevented me from practicing or racing this week. Did watch a bit of Q and race.

After the disaster of race 1, and missing this one, I'm already out of the drivers' championship. Like always I still plan on being at every future race possible. I do need to buckle down and work on a base setup and see what works and doesn't work with these new cars. Haven't had really had time yet. Like them a lot so far though.
