Intro to Historic GT

wow...first time online with gtl...picked a car i hated when i played b4 but had to try to drive again. ABARTH!!! Sorry to the alfa's i tapped when racing. had a great time..pit crew was sleeping...when i pitted they didn't refuel!! ran out of gas leaving pits. TY for the push when i ran out going into pits! FIXIT AGAIN TONY!!!

Well poop. I was having fun until my connection dropped just long enough to lose connection with the server. Ah well.

I qualified second or third I believe but then I was slow on the start so I was passed by two or three right away. Had some good racing with a few guys (sorry, I don't remeber who), rubbing doors and such. I don't know what place I was in when I was dropped but I had made up a few spots. It was fun and I am looking forward to the next.

Great race by all. No incidents that involved me this time.

I qualified in 9th position and finished in 6th. I gained positions by avoiding the accidents of other cars.

Too bad about losing the connection Jared. You were ahead of me for sure and I think you were in 4th? when dropped. Your car was stopped middle of track at turn one. I managed to go around it, I dunno what would have happened had I hit it. Kaboom maybe? LOL

The first few laps viewed from my position looked really great. A line of cars snaking around the track and drivers trying to gain position. It looked like a television show!

I lost position right off the bat.......mini just doesnt launch well. Great car once it's up to speed but by then, you guys were way up the road.

My first GTL race as well. I arrived on the server just a minute before qualy, didn't check anything, just went for it. Lap 12 I was running on fumes, so I pitted, man that was the world's longest pit stop - almost 2 1/2 minutes! Get back out on lap 13 I'm running down the front straight and run out of fuel! The doggone pit crew failed to fuel up the car in a 2 1/2 minute stop! What's up with that? Anyway, I was watching the monitor the rest of the race and saw one high finisher blasting through turn 1 completely running outside the track every time. Hope the stewards saw that and will take corrective action. Not that it has any effect on my non-finish. I just don't see it a very sportsmanship-like to try to grab a extra second by blasting through a corner everyone else slows slightly for so we don't overrun the curbing.

That turn one thing is okay. It's possible to go wide there as long as the car makes it inside the orange cones. After the cones a cut track warning is issued. I think at most a half second is gained by going wide.

Good little race that was. Wasn't sure I was going to make it though. Couldn't get my car out of the garage. In gear but wasn't moving! Turns out the clutch got re-mapped! Not by me! lol. Wierd game sometimes I tell ya.

Quallied with race fuel because I forgot to switch set-ups. DOH. That put me at 7th or 8th, not sure which, but got a terrific start. Found myself in 5th after turn 1. Had some good racing with Jared and Jack for quite a few laps too. They were right behind me for quite some time. Good fun guys.

Spent the last half the race chasing Conor and Tim as they drifted around every corner! Really cool to watch that. Then I got tapped into Conor's butt and sent him around. Damn. Hate when that happens. Sry man. That put me in 3rd. Then a couple laps later Tim spun around in that nasty turn 2, and handed me 2nd. Thanks. With only 2 laps left I wasn't about to let him catch me!

Was a good race to drive the Alfa. No need to worry about the cost of rental points. Hehe.

BTW- The problem you guys had with re-fueling is because GTL doesn't look at your setup for fuel amount. It defaults to 1L (everytime!)!! So if you enter the pits for fuel....you have to actually add it on your pit-board. It will even empty any fuel you had in there down to 1L as well if you don't manually adjust it!! Go figure??

HEY! That was fun! :). Tim and I beating and banging around was just a pure blast...haven't had that much fun in a long while.

I didn't even expect to race in this one. The piss poor performance I had earlier in the day turned me off on this race. But, I wanted to find out what my problem was, so I went out in the practice session, made a few tweaks to the car, and I was back in business! Those tweaks helped me gain 2 seconds overall and also put me in 3rd place on the grid after qualifying.

My start of the race was pretty good. Got a good jump on David and passed him on the outside going through turn 1. I gave it up though, going through that poor excuse of a chicane half a lap later so I settled in for second. This allowed Tim to attach to my rear bumper and then we began battling. However, this didn't really slow us down for the first half of the race. We were regularly running consistent 1:18s and while David just checked out on us, we managed to pull quite a distance on the rest of the field.

About halfway though, was when things started to change. We intensified our battle and started slowing ourselves down. The Alfas finally caught up to us and then we found ourselves in a group battle. They couldn't really get around us though because us two Falcons hogged up the road :). But Dean did manage to pierce through the wall as he slammed into me rear going into turn 2, hehe :P. No problem, Dean, just an accident. So now I was in 4th, chasing down Tim and Dean. A couple laps later, Tim spun out in that same corner which paired us two together again while giving Dean 2nd. Tim was in front of me, giving me a hard time to get around him. Going into the final corner with just a few laps left, I gave him a little tap with my bumper which made him loose and stole 3rd away from him. He couldn't really crawl back though as one of the other Alfas passed him. So I kept 3rd place till the end :).

This was a fun one, now I guess I'll have to try to make more of these more often :).

That Falcon battle looked like tons-O-fun (and that tan vinyl top is quite stylish Connor)...next time!
