PCC: Daytona

A long slog of a race for me, most of it was taken all alone, just a very short dice with a few drivers. Qualified very low and was a good 3s off the pace with a car that felt like the front and rear were attached to different cars. Was happy to make the 60mins without any major incident or spin and tried my best to give the lappers as much room as I could, had to slow my pace a lot in the last 4-5 laps to conserve fuel and was lucky I did as I crossed the line with 1 litre remaining. Happy enough to collect a couple of points.

Apologies to James and Dave for the respective incidents, did my race no favours by doing the subsequent d/t's but my bad for the incidents. Unlucky James on the disco.

Had several battles with Dave R, I was quicker in a straight line, but with slowly accumulating damage car was becoming more of a beast through the corners.

Well done to Jan and the podium.

started with full tank to leave pit stop options open.
had no clue how tyres/fuel last so felt right to do.
afterwards easy to say, should have done different.
took late stop then, kept old tyres, but atleast stop was
fast.
anyhow, 1st 15-20 minutes or so, epic racing with de Klein and
Linton. i doubt even sunday newspaper would have fitted
between our cars.
this ofc had a negative impact on our pace overall and
dream of podium finish was lost.
nevertheless, great racing guys. respects.

Got a puncture early on and had to try and make the tyres and fuel last 48 mins. Just about made it but tyres were red and I was 1 lap short on fuel. Lucky Jan wasn't too far behind and let him past to save a lap.

Mayhem in the first lap combined with a bad set up put me 20th in the first quarter of the race.

Then after a couple of spins in the chicane and a few cars crashing out moved me up to 16th on the road... then.. I lost my connection with the server with 15min to go... too bad I was just settling in....

Eventful.

Got a good start initially from my dreadful 14th Qualifying position, made up some places but was on the outside in turn 1. I was out of position and got forced onto the grass by another driver, so that caused me to spin and dropped me dead last. I made up 4 places on the rest of that first lap, and set about getting as many points as I could.

Made the usual schoolboy errors paired with overtaking moves out of the book. A couple of hairy moments with other cars but no punts and no major crashes. I was behind Ben and another driver at one point and they came together I believe, and as I came around turn 2 I slotted myself inbetween them to take both their places off them. I stormed ahead and set about a top ten.

Had a nice battle with Dave Robinson towards the end, I knew he would catch me and had he not run out of fuel he would've had 8th place, as I couldn't make up 8 seconds in a lap.

Real shame about my team mates, especially James as I believe he was around 5th when he was disconnected.

Thanks to everyone who gave me room when I was fighting my way up, I reckon this was my best race on R2P to date.

Great racing Talvitie and de Klein!

Quali - Sucky quali for me, no practice doesn't help of course.... ;-[

Race - Got a fantastic start and jumped to 6th, then begun to break away with de Klein and Talvitie. We we're side by side until the set of pitstops. Great racing guys, respect.
Pit stop went super smooth, was always worried about speeding in the pits so just took my time and dropped to 8th ready to make my assault back up the field. 15 Mins to go I got disco'd, after being bum raped by Nick, then a booming voice over TS [Nick] broke my angered silence which resorted to laughter. You've got to love the man.

Gutted as disco's seem to be happening alot recently...

Nother the less, great fun as always, see you next round.

Bugger, slowed up to give Dave M the place, he was ahead anyway, and let Jan go past so Dave could get over the line.

If I had taken him and done another lap, would have got Dave R as well!!
