PCC: Nordschliefe

Well i hadn't done a lot of practice, but i already knew the track so i qualified 6th i think it was. In first 2 laps Ari, Zak, Enis and me were all within a second or 2 of each other. Making it a real battle. Then in 2nd lap round the back of the track Enis had a moment, then i had a sympathy moment and the corner after Enis had a moment again. We both got going and it was hammer down to catch Zak.

Half way round Lap 3 Enis dropped off, and i got past Zak as he went into a gravel trap. Then it was foot down again to catch Ari, but this also proved to be the turning point in race. I'd previously calaculated i could make it on a full tank, but then Mr Bayless entered and set a time a good 10secs quicker in qualy so it'd tip the race to 8 laps, so i knew i had to pit so halved my fuel loads like Jan and pitted on lap 4.

This dropped us both back, but with fresh tyres hoped to make up the time and i was hoping to jump Ari in the pits, and possibly Toni. However, Mr Bayless made a error in sector 3 on lap 4, dropping him 20 seconds meaning he never tipped it into an 8 lap race (missed the line by 9secs), meaning on the last lap i found out it'd be a 7 lap race and i pitted all for nothing.

6th is a good result here, especially with the guys racing here today and it being a tough track, although my strategy let me down..

Plagued with problems tonight.

Didn't qualify where I could have done, on my second flying lap I was well up on my previous time and then a freeze at...one of the corners made me go across the grass and hit something. I stopped on track, there was nobody behind me and I was just sat there like "WHY!?".

The race wasn't much better, started 9th and was quite happy until a load of random lags kept dropping me behind other cars, until inevitably Eduardo got caught up. Although the crash was pretty funny to watch :P

When I was catching Rob Clenshaw, I would get close to him and then I would freeze up again and be 2 seconds back, meaning I had to carry on pushing even harder.

Then at some point I was planning on pitting so my tyres didn't get too worn, until BANG, my rear right and front left tyres burst under braking and I swerved across track, hitting something else, so I attempted to limp back 90% of the circuit to the pits, didn't repair damage and just got the tyres changed.

I'd lost some grip, but I got used to it eventually and just pushed on to finish a dismal 13th.

One more lap and I probably would've caught 10th.

well, saved fuel whole race and my wheel was on-off half

Firstly, if anyone was affected by my temporary freeze on lap 1 then I am very sorry. It was completely unexpected as everything had been running perfectly in practice.

Mainly, that was fantastic! A week ago, I didn't even know the track. I've put in lots of practice over the past week. I printed myself out a track map which I have scribbled notes on and marked certain landmarks. I've really enjoyed the experience and it is such a fantastic track. Certain sections, for example the beginning of the lap up to Metzgesfeld, are sublime.

To get a top 10 out of this. Unbelievable. I'm really chuffed with that :)

Got a real poor getaway and dropped a few places, then made some up in the early lap, and lost them again!

Settled into it and could not find a way past Ken for most of a lap, once I did set off into the distance but punctured the front right (twice eventually) and sufficiently bust the car up for the engine to let go with a minute left.

Considering I did a 3 laps of practice earlier today (to check tire wear and fuel consumption), after few weeks without racing and almost no driving at all, it didn't end bad at all.

Qualifying:
Only did one fast lap, but had to tackle the traffic and went off once, considering that 8:38 wasn't bad, but that was far from fastest possible time, unfortunately.

Race:
Started of ok, was a bit cautious, too cautious, and let Zak regain his position. Ari did a slow first lap, which held us (Ari, Zak, me and Sam) all together on track, it was fun. Unfortunately for me, lack of racing and practice showed, as I made some stupid mistakes, which in total costed me about 30 or so seconds. Too bad as I would've bee right up there in the fight for the podium. Last 3 and a half laps I was too far back to do anything about catching a podium spot and decided to just cruise around, I could've gone faster but it wouldn't amount to anything and risk was too high.

Not the best qual for me, lack of confidence everywhere and then I lost two places by 0.5 seconds.

Start was decent, I almost got past Jan. On the first lap I smacked my car to a barrier but it was still ok, just a little slow on straights. I was still trying to find a good rhythm and for a few laps I was focusing on not allowing Zak to use my slipstream too much.

Jan's pitstop turned things around at the top. Towards the end I started to catch Toni but not enough to try anything.

By my calculations Toni takes the title by better finishing position average and the standings agree. Also congrats to Tristan for a great drive.

Man was I dripping after this one. I suppose my California summer has finally started. Ack!

Had a good getaway, but didn't pull as much of a lead as I was hoping for into T1, so I had to go inside to defend. Almost missed my braking point! On the downshift to 1st gear, the rear kicked out and I had a nice slide through the corner on the power.

On lap 3, as I'm heading into the Wippermans, my screen minimises and Raxco software starts an auto-update. I put on the stop pedal and fortunately hit nothing. 15 seconds later I am back on my way again.

By some way the funnest race I have ever done despite the problems. Got a good start and got back past Enis going into turn 2. From then on Enis and Sam were stuck to my bumper and it was tight then them two had some kind of moment and I pulled out about 3 seconds but then Sam caught back up. Went off on to the gravel trap while deciding how much fuel to put in at the stop which didnt do too much damage but Sam got past. Came in on the same lap as Sam but this was where it started to go wrong.

My pit stall was the end one of the pit lane and I slithered through it meaning I couldnt reverse back in as I'd left the pit lane so had to do another lap and pit again.

Last few laps were epic. Was flying round and making up time on 7th I think it was although not enough to catch up by the end when on the back straight I went off onto the grass on the left, bounced off the barrier, across the road into the right barrier, back across the road and up and embankment which spun me round and chucked me hard against the barrier just after the kink which broke something. Hobbled round trying to stay in position but I think it was Rob who passed me coming out of the Mini Karoussel but still managed to hold on for a top 10.
