Intro to V8 Supercars

Another top 5, possible podium finish and another disco. Starting running some decent laps and qualified p7. I told myself if I would actually put in some practice I could probably contend for the win. I was quickly reminded why I don't practice on lap 8 when my connection dropped for a 3rd straight race... looks like its time to drop 125$ on a gaming router...

Great fun but got hit by a frame rate bug, when she went to 1 fps. This was quite a suprise on a corner, and simply found myself resting against a wall with a wrecked car :-( So after only 7 laps or so, it was all over. A real shame.

all i can say is that i need some work to do to tame these monsters. had a good backpack battle with sandy and rick. i jumped out early to go to another funrun with gtl, and it got cancelled. sorry to whom i t-boned in the 2nd chicane, these cars don't stop too good.

I was doing fairly good until someone went in the gravel after a turn and re entered the track in front of me. It wasn't so bad except he pretty much stopped in the middle of the track. I had no where to go and smacked into him. Took too much damage to continue so retired.

My trip to NYC got cancelled due to car trouble so I figured I'd see what was going on at R2P at 3:35 or so. Saw this race so I registered, not knowing for sure I even had the mod. Don't remember ever having done a race in these things. Logged on to the game and saw it let me connect without errors so I was obviously able to start. Qualifying ends with me not having time to put down a time. I quickly asked someone for a setup which he graciously provided. Set the fuel(hoping the game was calculating properly) and went out for a whole lap of practice before the start of the race. These things need brakes but apart from that, didn't have too much trouble figuring them out.
Started 29th and was going to take it real easy and just ride along minding my own business. But a couple had trouble off the line, couple more in the T1, the T3 I think, and so. Settled into 12th I think and worked on getting braking points right and then maybe I would battle a couple people for spots.
Well 12th became 11th, 10th, etc until I was 6th I think before my pitstop. Stopped, came out 9th. Once the pitting was done I was in 6th I think. Passed a couple for 4th. Saw that I was too far behind the podium so I concentrated on keeping it clean and it worked out well.

Maybe with some practice before I could have done more(Q for one thing) but for jumping in and going with a new setup, I'll have to be happy with a 4th from 29th. Very courteous people when being passed. Couple people fought for their spots but always clean. I hope I did the same in everyone's view.

One huge problem with this race was that it's said it was 26 laps all along. I checked it again right before the race and used that to figure my fuel. It was only a good luck that somebody said it was 30 laps right before the race started and after the cars started going to the grid, I fixed my fuel. We really need to get that right because once people see a lap count and do their fuel, they probably won't check it again in the game.

Other than that......I FINALLY FINISHED A RACE!! First time in 8 starts I've even reached halfway. Needless to say, I don't do real well with new mods and so it takes me a while to drive to survive.

It seemed to be pretty good racing with the exception of a few lapped cars who didn't seem to know what to do when a lead lap car came up behind them. Usually the rule is choose a line and stay there. Let the passing car change lines.

But that was minor stuff. Overall it was a great race with Sandeep, me and Axix running like we were roped together the whole time, and that's the way it ended. Congrats to Bas on a great win and see you next time

That would have been me Randy. Sorry. I bounced off the armco and right back into the track.

I think 2 or 3 folks may have hit me.

Red Weasel Racing Reports....

WOW! Well the Team Owner and Head Weasel had that funny look on his face as he watched the entire field drive away from him at the start of the race. Sitting in his stalled car bewildered (Doh!) So from last to cross the Start/Finish line to battle all the up to 20th. That is a days work.

Miss Susan, in the Red Weasel Racing WPS Ford soldiered on after a much better start then her counterpart. Working her way through the field, or in some cases the field work around her. She scored the two points on the conversion after Kevin's Punt (just kidding Kevin).

All in all Red Weasel Racing was happy to have both cars finish todays event and vows that if the effort contuines the team may afford more then one celibatory beer and two straws.
